My biggest concern back then, as it remains, is transparency. For the benefit of both the experienced and the new collector. I, along with others, made the case for upfront clarification from all parties involved, over and over, and in the end, with more knowledge than they began with, collectors generally decided to adopt a "don't ask, don't tell" attitude towards the shifting policy moves. Was the shift towards changing the definition of restoration over time part of some master plan on CGC's behalf from the beginning? I don't think it was. I spent way too much time in the debates and in the end (2008 - when I got tossed from the boards for various reasons) was very happy to not deal with it anymore. I have purchased one slabbed book in the last nine years. I think the toothpaste has been long out of the tube. The hobby turned into a business, and I simply don't want to play the role of someone else's mark. I'm more interested in discussing the aesthetics of the art and writing at this point. I feel less interested in acting as some kind of consumer protection presence at this point. All the energy expended wasn't quite worth it in the end. :-)

Anyone know if this is a Green River copy?

Thanks, Jim. All is extremely well! I put the fifteen years I was off the boards to very good use! :-) -

What are the top 5 Pedigree’s in your opinion?
Red Hook replied to action1kid's topic in Golden Age Comic Books
He was not. For a time he was a suspect. He did run up some other legal fees unrelated to the Green River case. -

Sorry for the late reply. None of the Green River date stamps after December of 1966 contained the year. So for instance, "Dec 13 1966" was followed by simply "Jan 3" a month later. So the easy answer is no, this isn't a Green River. Nice book, though. -

Green River Visual Database - Tales of Suspense Update
Red Hook posted a journal entry in Red Hook's Journal
Now in its eight year of operation ... Now in it's eighth year, the most comprehensive site on an individual pedigree collection begins its new update with the addition of new books to the Tales of Suspense Gallery. All the other galleries will receive updates this summer. A shout out to all the good folks on the boards ... and remember, all the info at www.greenriverpedigree.com is free. -
Clarification. The addition of the picture of Nik to the Cap n' Mandi package was my tribute to him. The drawing of Cap (which I originally did btw) was removed and filled with black as a symbol of the loss of a good friend. I knew Nik. Visited with him at his garage. I miss him too. End of story. Thanks to all the folks who wish me back. All is well on my end and I post semi-regularly on www.comiccollecting.org. Best to you all, Brad To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. "I think more emphasis should be paid to "interesting" collections and not just those accumulated by mere financial brute force. With all the attention paid towards "Going Green" this year, whether it be hybrid cars, solar houses or small carbon footprint living, I think it's time for CGC to recognize oddball registry sets and collectors that have taken the hard road and tried to pull together collections that can't be built just by pulling out a credit card. The registry has plenty of BSD collections, without scans, that just aren't that interesting to look through. What's the big deal about a list of numbers? I say, get imaginative and stop using registry point totals as a measure of a collections uniqueness and intrinsic value. #1 registry sets, especially those owned by dealers, are a yawn. Come on, amigos. Come on Scott and Harshen and Mark. Get with the program and give some recognition to those low point total collections that aren't just accumulations of big number pressed books! Make the Registry Awards Interesting Again! Go Green! :-) BTW... I had no idea this would end up on the CGC Chatboards. I was as surprised as you guys! If they want to cut me off from posting on the CGC Boards that's fine. But that has nothing to do with having registry sets. To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here.
