  1. it was graded before the standard change. i've just never had it re-slabbed. when i sent everything to Heritage they suggested the changes in order to maximize its potential. it cost about 100-150 to send in and about 2 months to have it ready for sale. we are happy with the results of course...but, can see how it can discourage someone with all the hoop hopping. i can honestly say it was all out of my hands after i sent my books up to heritage. they know their stuff and their market. they wouldn't have suggested changes if they didn't think it would add value to the product.
  2. Hi Guys: the 9.6 was my book and to give it some perspective: it is a top 1% book and it is the only one that has been graded and slabbed with a signature and sketch on the inside cover. so, a bit of a Unicorn book at the 9.6 level. However, not everyone digs into the finer details and i think it will push the 9.6's up which is great news for everyone. My wife and i were hoping to sell high and we were rewarded with great success. Thanks to any board members that put in bids! It is greatly appreciated! here's some history on the book. it started as a 9.4. cgc qualified it was sent off 2 months ago to cbcs for signature verification and pressing and slabbing. it came back as a 9.6 and resubmitted to cgc for a new grade and came back as a 9.6 blue label.
  3. that was my baby! the last 5.5 sold in may of 2015 for 23900 at heritage. my wife and i were praying it would sell strong. we promoted it here on the boards and through our facebook page. we are putting money back for our kid's college and both this book and our TMNT 1 book sold at record highs. So, thanks to anyone who put in bids here on the boards! it is greatly appreciated.
  4. Anytime I've gotten anything from heritage I got all paperwork that went with it. I was emailed a copy of cbcs's receipt. But I never got a picture of it in a cbcs slab. It was just sent up to cgc for regrading and receiving a blue label. But, I know it was pressed and the reason it was green label was because no cgc authority had witnessed the signature. Cbcs analyzes that and confirms it to be a true signature. Basically cbcs verified it was a true set of signatures and the we sent it to cgc for a blue label because that is the industry standard and will bring a better and higher price for resale. Only cost me $70.00 so far. Plus my 2% at end of auction.
  5. just got one back from cgc. it was a cgc 9.4 qualified. i sent it to cbcs and got the inside signature verified, then, when i got that back--sent it to cgc for recert! see for your self. It is going for sale on heritage auction's new your auction May 13th. I think they did a great job! before: after: cheers!
  6. i think rarity speaks volumes. with the walking dead a cgc high graded copy will always command a premium. there are a very few copies out there and a huge fanbase. in 30 years it will be commanding huge money just like AF 15. Dead pool's 1st appearance will be less expensive because there are 100's of thousands of copies in great shape out there. Walking Dead's print run. mere thousands. You will always be good to invest in high grade keys. there's nothing more key for this generation than. spider-man. TMNT. (also with a tiny print run of mere thousands) and the walking dead. when the big money boys go after high grade keys of this generation--watch out!
  7. great post: a little difficult to answer, but, here i go. if you are going to buy and hold the AF 15, then i would say it is a good idea to sell your whole personal collection for the one book in your target grade. it will be alot easier to buy a 200-300 dollar book one at a time until you can rebuild your collection. but, these prices on the AF 15 are only going to go higher and higher. actually, it is how i have managed to purchase my books. i build up a collection. sell it, and buy a high grade key. as i have gotten older, my collection has shrunk, but the quality of my collection has gone up. Now that i am 50--i am liquidating my collection to pay for my kid's college in 10yrs. otherwise, i would do exactly what you are suggesting. sell the whole collection and take that money to buy a super nice higher grade AF15. Remember, your childhood is yours--no one can take that from you as long as you have the memories. Books are replaceable--but, sometimes finding one in the grade and for the price you want to pay is hard to find. I know i kick myself for not buying some things i passed on in the past. But, the search is fun and finding a book to help finish your collection is a real rush. When you start, just think as though you are starting new and fresh--but, you already own the big score! cheers and good luck!
