  1. Here’s the rest of my ill-gotten gains from Greggy’s Mystery Box. Some from the board legend himself, some from Texas, and some from an unspecified secret locale deep in the forests of Canadia.
  2. You know, Canadia. Our neighbor to the North. Home of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Dudley Do-Right, thirdgreenham, and Greggy.
  3. After eagerly awaiting my Greggy mystery box, I was finally able to hold it in my hot little hands on Saturday February 23. It came all the way from Canadia. Lo and behold, I think he loves me. This was front and center among the other chit he sent. Nice package - (the Mystery Box, not Greggy’s).
  4. I actually like this error. Although it's a true manufacturing problem, to me it is not an unattractive defect. Frankly, to me the book is more cool - certainly more rare - without both staples. Having said that, I am less enamored of those books usually are dual-stapled that were manufactured with only one staple. CGC does not grade those with a qualified label, IIRC, but they do note the single staple on the label.
  5. Take.You know where I live.😄
  6. Namor’s pose in the second panel looks un-manly. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, just an observation.
  7. Arex is a true OG Boardie, no worries about purchasing from him. Hey Arex, if you still have that 9.4 white-paged old label Cap 109 I’ll buy it back from you...
  8. CGC does note Captain America Comics #3 as Stan Lee’s first published comic book work. Parenthetically, he had apparently used the Stanley Lieber byline prior to CA3, when he won a NYC newspaper contest
  9. Wallace Wood died in the mid-1980s. He had several chronic diseases including alcohol use disorder, and was a smoker. I believe he was 54 when he died, of self-inflicted gunshot. An amazingly talented artist with distinctive style.
  10. Somebody Robbed The Glendale Train New Riders of the Purple Sage
  11. For the non-cognoscenti like I am, my prize (listed as #64 MJI) means Mark Jewelers Insert. A total of TEN Marvel Avengers, Defenders, and Team-Up books. In respect to Mr. Ditko’s passing, I am also adding the Steve Ditko Marvel Visionaries hardback mint unread and still in shrinkwrap.
  12. 2nd prize - a week in Philadephia. (Apologies to WC Fields) How could I not choose a Boards Legend? Greggy Mystery Box! As always, thanks to Holiday Ham, Holly Jolly One, and everyone else who takes the time to set up this great gift exchange.
  13. Sqeggs, that Comics #8 has amazing colors. Can’t believe it graded a 1.5...Even if a rat chewed away the rest of the book, it’s a winnah!
  14. I have been procrastinating. I will donate the following ten Mark Jewelers insert books: Four each of the Avengers and the Defenders and two Marvel Team Ups (Teams Up)? I also will throw in a few other unusual books as I find in various boxes - updates as I go... USA shipping only.
  15. Using this reply as a placeholder, I am listing/donating about a dozen Mark Jeweler's Insert Marvel books, several EC horror and sci-fi reprints, a bunch of Zenescope cheesecake covers, posters (Marvel and DC), and..., as well as..., and of course... No photos yet, and I will add items as I think of them/find them.
  16. Wall Street Journal review said it's the best Spiderman movie of all (so far).
  17. These are a subset of the Harvey file copies. They were discovered in a chicken coop in Harlan County.
  18. Current owner could simply remove the CGC outer slab and replace the inner well with a fresh 4mm Mylar archival sleeve. Voilà - no more PLOD!
  19. Mel Gibson has demonstrated overt racism, misogyny, and anti-Semitism in his personal life. In the era of #metoo, I am surprised he can get work in Hollywood. Then again, when has the movie business really paid attention to anything other than “the business”...
  20. Looking for coverless Marvel Mystery Comics 51...?
