  1. Rich!!! Thanks so much for getting this done!! It's beautiful. I had no idea about her health issues. :(

Star Trek #54 CGC 9.6 s/s Sally Kellerman & Teri Garr

God bless this poor woman---I know Garr has had significant health issues over the years, but if you had seen her that night, you'd have wished for her sake she was anywhere else but at a convention signing photos. LONG line, her first public appearance, and this book pictured is one of only two (yes, only 2 books) for CGC signature series.

  2. Oh yes, this happened. Extreme kudos to Curt! (Hank Pym!) I couldn't be happier!!!

I originally wanted to get all the surviving doctors on the book but I really like the symmetry of the signatures so I think I'm going to just let it stay the way it is. Probably.... ;)

I really wanted a book signed by Richard Kiel because he's awesome. Also, he's one of the nicest celebs I've ever met!! Anyway, I thought about a James Bond book but there really wasn't anything I wanted.

Then I came across this movie on Mystery Science Theatre 3000. It's one of the very worst movies ever made. However, it's hysterical in the MST3K context. I was stunned when his name showed up in the credits (as were the hosts of the show).

And so... I made this happen. And it's awesome. That's him in the bottom picture as "The Solarite".

    Thank you Steven! (starpc)

Trina Robbins is one of the main reasons I became a working artist. Back in the 70's she held a class at the local community college called "Comics and You" as part of the College for Kids program with my elementary school. My exposure to comics was still limited to a handful of Marvels at that time, but she opened me up to everything from the Golden Age to a glimpse of the underground.

Everyone in the class drew a comic page, she showed us how to lay it out, how to make it flow, etc. Then she xeroxed them all and made them into a book for everyone to take home. I wish I still had it. My comic was about Superpan, a flying frying pan with a cape. Hey, I was 12.

Anyway, she treated us like intelligent adults, unlike all the other courses in that program. It changed everything for me, it made me think seriously about comics and graphic storytelling for the first time. So, finally, I got a signature form her. I don't get to go to cons much but I hope to see her some time just to tell her what a powerful influence she had on a awkward 12-year-old and how it turned into an amazing career.

Thanks to the mighty RICH HENN for this one! I'm still on the lookout for more high-grade copes of her work.

This was a crazy idea, but probably a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity so I went for it.

I'm not usually a big fan of so many sigs on one book, but I'm really happy I did this and I LOVE the way it turned out!!

Within the context of trying to put together a compete CGC SS set of all 61 issues, it really works and really stands out as a gem.

I've gotta throw out a HUGE thank you to Joel Elad and Jesse for making this happen!! I know how much work it must have been.

Since there was only enough room on the label for last names, here's the list of actors:

    1. BOBBY CLARK

    2. ARLENE MARTEL

    3. ANTIONETTE BOWER

    4. DYANNE THORNE

    5. FRED WILLIAMSON

    6. JOANNE LINVILLE

    7. MICHAEL FOREST

    8. MICHAEL J. POLLARD

    9. SALLY KELLERMAN

    10. CELESTE YARNALL

    11. WILLIAM SCHALLERT

    12. BARBARA LUNA

The label has 2 mistakes but CGC said they'd be happy to fix it. Thank you CGC and everyone involved!!! :whee:

  6. I hope this is the right place to ask...

I'm thinking about Getting some 50's MAD comics (only pre-magazine size) done. Aside from Jack Davis, Russ Heath and Marie Severin, how many artists who worked on those are still with us? And do any of them still do cons or have any appearences coming up that you know of? Thanks! :)

I'm not trying to be mean here, but…good luck. Russ Heath is the only one you are likely to obtain. Jack Davis does not do shows and Marie Severin does not sign at all.

Al Jaffee is still out there and I am really looking for a chance to get a couple of books signed by him. Sergio Aragonés is still with us but I don't think he started with Mad until later.

Yeah, I totally get it! I pretty much knew that that was the case, but I didn't know Severin doesn't sign at all. :( Still, I like asking on these boards because you never know what people know... :) Thanks!
