  1. Venom #6 1:1000 McFarlane Variant I can see why they are throwing McFarlane's name on these books but pulling random interior art and giving them a computerized makeover makes for an awful cover. The Tyler Kirkham cover looks much cooler.
  2. I love that the pilot is just creeping on their conversation
  3. Thanks everyone...all of this is greatly appreciated. I hope to get a good collection going in the new year once I go through all this info. The Gold forum is awesome.
  4. Thanks for the suggestion...I've added it to my Amazon order!
  5. That book looks like an excellent place to start! Thanks so much
  6. There's a couple of active threads about rare romance comics and Baker books but I couldn't find a general Romance topic. I tried the search but it only came up with those topics. If I missed one please point me in that direction and I will delete this. Can anyone give me some recommendations on some romance runs that won't break the bank. I'm not looking for slabbed books but books I can actually read. I've ran across some banged up readers at the local flea market and really enjoyed them and I would like to read more. There's so many titles and I really don't know the best place to begin. Thanks for any and all help
  7. That Soul Saga cover always cracked me up because of the lower half of the female's body...not sure what's going on there
  8. Alpha Books in Fort Smith, Arkansas They sold new and back issue comics as well as general books/magazines from the early 1900s on up. They rarely had "wall books" but he had an X-Men 94 in the glass counter by the cash register for months. I would drool at it every week when I got my box of comics. Looking back his prices were outrageously high for back issues but me and my friends happily bought them up because it was the only place in town. The owner died back in the mid-90s and the place closed up.
  9. I love that the comic shop owner got his face on the cover He called that his "O" face
  10. Here's an excellent website detailing the various ways to read the run http://crushingkrisis.com/definitive-guide-to-collecting-x-men-as-graphic-novels/collecting-x-men-1-93-comic-books-as-graphic-novels/ http://crushingkrisis.com/definitive-guide-to-collecting-x-men-as-graphic-novels/collecting-uncanny-x-men-94-280-comic-books-as-graphic-novels/ http://crushingkrisis.com/definitive-guide-to-collecting-x-men-as-graphic-novels/collecting-uncanny-x-men-281-350-comic-books-as-graphic-novels/ http://crushingkrisis.com/definitive-guide-to-collecting-x-men-as-graphic-novels/collecting-uncanny-x-men-351-443-comic-books-as-graphic-novels/ http://crushingkrisis.com/definitive-guide-to-collecting-x-men-as-graphic-novels/collecting-uncanny-x-men-444-present-comic-books-as-graphic-novels/
  11. If you want easy and cheap (and don't mind black and white art) go with the Essential books. The early issues are covered in 2 volumes and GSX forward made it to 11 volumes I believe.
  12. It depends on the show for me. Typically lighter shows like Orange Is The New Black or Frankie And Johnny I can tear through in about a day or 2 because they don't require much thought. Shows that take more concentration like Daredevil and Jessica Jones I try to pace myself a bit so I don't miss smaller details. I always prefer the choice though to binge or not. I can't stay interested in a show on a typical TV format anymore.

  14. That McFarlane cover is a 1:1000 so I imagine there won't be a ton floating around http://www.bleedingcool.com/2016/09/27/toldja-ish-todd-mcfarlane-contributes-11000-varint-cover-venom-1/
  15. The costume is a bit iffy to me. I can see what they are going for but it doesn't seem "scary" in the least.
  16. http://www.ew.com/article/2016/06/22/gotham-maggie-geha-poison-ivy Gotham Posted June 22 2016 — 9:00 AM EDT Heading into season 3, Gotham isn’t the only thing that’s getting older. Maggie Geha (Ted 2) joins the cast as a series regular in the role of Poison Ivy. Although the character has previously existed in the world of Gotham, Geha will play an older Ivy. According to her character description, “Following an encounter with a monster from Indian Hill, Ivy Pepper finds herself reborn, and one step closer to the DC villain she is destined to become: Poison Ivy. Now a 19-year-old woman who’s harnessed the full power of her charms, she sets her sights on Bruce Wayne.” Get ready to meet the new Ivy — as well as Jamie Chung as Valerie Vale — when Gotham returns on Monday, Sept. 19 at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
  17. I still have no interest in owning this issue, but I've sure as hell been looking for it. Not because I want to make a huge premium on it, but only because this thread has gotten me interested in the fact that it's so hard to find. In my opinion, I've yet to come across anything better than a 9.2-9.4. I even checked the last LCS in my area. They didn't even have a copy of Wolverine #35... Same here...it is like a fun scavenger hunt
  18. He's got some nasty tartar going on there too. Ick. Cream to off white.... Slight miswrap... Not worth slabbing
  19. If you don't mind me asking, what did those two chairs set you back? Do they come in black as well? I'm thinking about buying a pair for my comic book/man cave. Thanks. Those are pretty awesome chairs... I might like to look into getting one myself
  20. Does your wife have a long lost sister because I think I'm married to her. my wife refuses to acknowledge that they even exist! my better half is the same way
