    What was the book?

Transformers: ReGeneration One #100 signed by Most G1 Voice actors and most G1 comic book artists and writers. It may not be worth more than both of our lives put together, but I did say that to the agent and to me, the time, money, and effort I have spent taking that comic across the country to get signatures is worth that much to me.

:roflmao:I demand to speak to a supervisor... or a nerd!

I didn't know what else to say. Funny thing is, I told this story to an Ex- TSA employee. Someone who was higher up the food chain then the agents who rifle through your possessions. He advised me that I next time I should ask for a privet screening room and the Port Authority to be present. He also told me I could also file a claim if anything bad happens to my property. I asked him how many of those claim ever payout and how do you put a price on a signed comic book like mine. He just shrugged.

There has to be some method to escalate this situation without getting in trouble (akin to yelling fire in a movie theater) -- something like "SUPERVISOR PLEASE!" said loudly enough that the supervisor actually hears you.

If I had something that valuable in my possession while traveling, I would check into this for sure.

The one thing non-collector people don't seem to get is that once you have ruined something like this, there is very little chance of fixing it.

See my above answer. I hadn't had anything like this happen to me before so I wasn't a bit caught off guard and angry by what was happening and already had happened. Experience and talking it out I am more prepared should this kind of thing happen again. I am more than happy to miss a flight just to keep my collectibles from damaged by these clowns.

  2. I'm currently getting ready for Emerald City Comic Con 2019 and wanted to share my TSA horror story.

Last year on my way to a Transformers convention in Chicago, my computer bag was pulled aside for additional screening. I had removed my laptop from the bag before it was X-Rayed so I wondered what was in my bag would require additional screening. My bag still held a comic book folio with 5 comics and plastic box off cards for the newly released Transformers: Trading Card Game. 75 cards maybe?

TSA Agent: Sir, is this your bag?

    Me: Yes

TSA Agent: I have to do additional screening with it.

Me: I want to be present before you start.

    TSA Agent: Absolutely

To her credit, the TSA agent waited until I had the remainder of my items and was present before going through my computer bag. She pulled out the plastic transparent box containing the Transformers card game and imminently struggled with opening it.

Me: Excuse me! Could you please be more gentle with that. Some of those cards actually are valuable.

TSA Agent: Don't worry. They'll be okay.

She no sooner finished that sentence when her struggling with the card case resulted in her removing the top with such force that the entire 75 cards flung out of the holder and fluttered all around her. Several on the ground.

Me: Are you ting me right now?

All I got in response was an ugly look from the agent.

After witnessing her struggles to put my cards away, and action that resulted in my repeating several times to please treat these valuable cards gently, she moved on to my comic book folio.

    Me: Stop what you're doing!

TSA Agent: Sir you need to step back and let me conduct my search.

Me: And that box contains a comic that is worth more than our lives put together. I want you to get a supervisor or a nerd if for some insane reason they need to be removed.

TSA Agent: Sir I need to finish my search.

Me: I don't want you to finish your search. You do not know how to handle collectibles!

TSA AGent: Sir, I think I have done a good job handling your valuables.

Me: Are you kidding me right now? You just spent ten minutes picking my playing cards off the floor!

The TSA agent then opened my comic book folio and looked inside. Saw that they were comics and closed it up and put it back in the computer bag.

My take away from this is... I have a couple of comics in my collection that if I ever do want them at a convention with me I will still take them on my carry on. I'll look to see if there are better protection options in that case. But most of the books I take or buy from a convention I can spend a little to have them mailed with insurance to and from the venue.

Amazing Spider-man #648 CGC 9.8 SS with sketch by UK artist Andrew Wildman.  Andrew worked on Marvel's Transformers comics, the 1st Black Cat solo series and Spider-man Arachnis Project. Decided on a sketch that spanned his career.  Front is Black Cat getting undressed wearing Spidey undies.  Back has a cover recreation of Transformers #3 which actually had a cameo by Spider-Man. Signed by Stan Lee at his final convention appearance Silicon Valley Comic Con 2018.  Also signed by long time Amazing Spider-Man writer Dan Slott and artist Humberto Ramos.

This is Amazing! I absolutely love how Wildman rendered Megatron here. This is elite!

Someone sent me a package with postage all over it like this.  I want to personally say I am sorry to anyone from Punta Gorda Florida that had to wait on the line behind the seller as the cashier made sure the right amount of postage was affixed. Comic was very well packed though.

That's a flat rate box, isn't it? Envelope maybe? So, what? $7.65. Bet the shipper knew that. Put the correct postage on and just dropped it off at the counter. No need for him to wait in line and check the postage and waste a clerks time.

Is CGC going to be there

Emerald City has not announced them yet. They haven't announced anyone on their main show floor yet. I can tell you that CGC has been there the last two or three years. I have used their services at the only. In the past, you could have them mail your books out to be graded and shipped back to you or you can have them graded at the show. They have been known to not complete their grading and cases at the show and not offering refunds for missing the target.

Last year I remembered got my badges real close at the end ... I had to go to the customer service in ECCC with a copy of receipt and record of my CC showing I had purchased them. O.o They had them in a folder in hold for me, never mailed out to me!

This year,  they better do the mailing before I go there.

    Oh, that's . Really?

My time at ECCC is cut really short this year due to a Transformers convention happening in LA the same weekend. I'm taking the train down from Bellingham to Seattle on Thursday morning and flying out to LA Friday night. If something happens where I have to wait in line to pick up my passes because they couldn't mail them out is going to affect things pretty negatively for me. Though, now that I think about it, tThursday's aren't really that busy. I guess it won't eat up to much time if that's the case. But It would be a first for me.

Thought I might want to mention that a friend is now considering in selling his ECCC day badges, as he told me he need to save up money for his personal financial situation. It’s not yet officially decided as ECCC hasn’t mailed out the badges to him or to me. I believe it is supposedly be this month that ECCC will begin sent out the badges.

Just based on my personal experience that would be very early of them.

  8. I could maybe tell you more if I had better quality images of the CGC labels to look at. At first glance, I'm not seeing rare books or rare covers here. Just high grades.

TFCon (Transformer convention) L.A. 2019 is coming up this March in Burbank, CA (yeah I know, but they are calling it L.A.). With IDW comic book artists and writers in attendance, it might be a great venue to offload them.

  9. On this episode, I have trouble finding enough books at my comic book store last Wednesday. Never fear! Thrift store to the rescue!

Thanks to the thrift store I have discovered a little gem from the 90s in the form of Double Dragon. A comic book very loosely based on the 80s video game.

Also from the thrift store, I found some Dawn comics and a blank Gen 13 comic book.

In the mail, I got my hands on the Uncanny X-Men number 1 blank variant and from my local comic book show Wonder Woman and Amazing Spider-Man.

    @Yoshi

Forgive me, everyone. My browser freaked out and now I have posted the same thing several times. Trying to figure out how to delete them.

UPDATE: Well searching around the boards here seems like people have been asking how to delete posts but the option isn't available to us mere mortals. My sincere apologies. I'll keep looking into this but it doesn't look good.

Thank you @ADAMANTIUM I hid one. Looks like you (or someone) got the other duplicates. Again, my sincere apologies.
