  1. I guess we have enough buyers who are just brainwashed by the word "variant" on that #9.
  2. George Lucas has been hitting the Bothan Brandy again.
  3. If they ever get around that "Wedding of Popeye and Olive Oyl" movie, I am so set.
  4. All I see on that cover is a suit of armor. But I guess that's enough these days.
  5. Good grief, I don't think any of the LCS around here order that many copies total of IIM.
  6. except for being a second appearance, sure. You can keep arguing semantics or pay attention to the market. 7 = cameo 9 = full The market that has issue 7 selling for more than issue 9? That market? The market that has eschewed full appearances in favor of actual first appearances, no matter how small, in regards to recent characters? That market? I don't know if 8 hours is enough to establish equilibrium in "the market." I've got more 7's so I hope you're right. But my bet would be on 9.
  7. I managed to sell a II7 at 110 this morning. I have one more II7 slab left that I'm putting up later today, though with that CBR article I assume #9 is going to be the big one since it's the first full. Those are going straight to CGC now Something appears to have gone horribly wrong with MJ on that II7 cover.
  8. I would add 3 to the htf mix I went to three local shops and they each had multiple copies of 3 on the shelves, hardly anything after that. Not a 4 or 5 anywhere. And each copy of 7 looked like it had been delivered by a drooling Rottweiler.
  9. I'm set if Thongor Warrior of Lost Lemuria gets his own franchise.
  10. Lois calls him her "Superboy" - the kids hovering and wearing a red cape. I'd call it his first appearance as Superboy. Regardless, the market will determine what is considered his first appearance. I snagged a couple of flawless copies of L&C8. Therefore I agree. Except that I'm pretty sure Superboy first appeared back in the 1940s.
  11. It seems the one requirement for these variants and 2nd prints to get red hot is to have a butt-ugly cover.
  12. As I said, it's not something I would do unless I knew more about the dealer. The prices in question are just way, way above what I would pay. Or what I've recently paid for similar (though not identical) issues. And way over (3x or more) guide for not-at-all hot books though, admittedly, also not easy books to find. Similar situations crop up from time to time with books listed on the boards. I figure there's no point in making an offer unless you're ultimately willing to come in at least 75% of the original listing price. But then again, someone may just be listing at a crazy price hoping someone jumps.
  13. How much of a deal does he like to make? He has some stuff I want, but mostly listed at 3-4x what I'd offer. I don't ever complain about what someone asks for their own books, but I also feel it's inappropriate to contact someone when you're looking to pay about 25% of what they're asking.
  14. Great to hear. I've never had the pleasure of meeting him, but I've got plenty of books around with his work on them.
  15. Hey, that's great. I loved all his Dragonlance art. How is Mr. Elmore doing these days?
  16. Well, I did just pick up most of Cerebus 65-90 for 50 cents apiece. That's kinda the same thing, right?
  17. I'd love to add one to my collection and this is one of the very, very few keys I would consider getting signed.
  18. I sold my pence copy when I bought this one. Oh man, do I love this book.
  19. At some point I'm going to have to look up and find out who in the heck this X character is, and why everyone wants a copy of its first appearance. Rocket Raccoon's cousin?
  20. The trailer certainly made it look like they were taking the now-cliched "dark" turn on the material. I hope they stick with the comedy that's powered Archie through 75 years. But they won't.
  21. Every store around here still has multiple copies on the shelves.
  22. Check out Chuckles' prices on early Preachers. A mere $182 for Fine copies of Preacher 2-10. But just $93 for Good. He'll give you 40% for a limited time though.
  23. Unfortunately every single copy of the new Afterlife arrived at my LCS with damage to the spine. Seeing as it had been forty-six years (or so) since the previous issue, that was all the reason I needed to drop it.
  24. That is not a discount, by any stretch.I'd say they are manipulating the buyer into paying a premium for lesser demand ( read as unslabbable) copies, in one fell swoop. That is the oldest trick in the book, when it comes to moving off lesser grade books, in one shot. They take a set of 66 issues, none of which would really justify grading fees, and jack the price as high up as can be....and then advertise a "40% off clearance discount". They know that they have a wide enough of a cutomer base , that they will be able to capitalize on a sucker who has money to burn and....whammo-they rake in a thousand dollars(or whatever the price is on the set) for straightup mid grade/reader copies of books that would be difficult , and would take a long amount of waiting time, to move individually. I thought I had made my sarcasm clear, but I always forget that it's not always clear on the internet. Chuckles could offer 90% off his ludicrous prices here and still be well over FMV.
