  1. Is that a soft side case? If so, no.
  2. "Random"? That's exactly what I collect!
  3. Only problem is that sellers aren't required to disclose that they don't have the books in hand. So maybe a "meet in the middle" version of the rule is that sellers must disclose any books that aren't "in hand" with estimated receipt dates?
  4. Gutted. Have had a relative deal with a similar diagnosis. It's all about palliative care at this point, I hope he has all the care and comfort he needs. My George story, which is a similar story to many of your stories, came back at Dragon Con about 6 years ago. George (in his trademark Hawaiian shirt) was late getting back to his table after a lunch break and I was there in Artist Alley (Room) waiting for him. About 10 minutes late he came scampering in the door getting corralled by his handler, plops down in his seat and starts apologizing for being late (no one was mad) and starts just extoling how much fun he has at this con and talking about all the amazing cosplayers he's run into and how it's impossible for them to expect him to stay at his seat when there's "SO MUCH AMAZING GOING ON JUST OUTSIDE THAT DOOR!" It was a joy to see someone loving the community he'd help create and foster through his work. It was totally worth lugging my COIE and JLA/Avengers Absolutes through the convention to get them signed by George.
  5. FOMO plus some "bitcoin" (it's only going to go up!) mindset... seems to be alive and well. It only takes two insufficiently_thoughtful_persons to set a market (though the more data points the more likely it's a real market value)
  6. Looks like the old tried and true "Put a 1092 box inside a 1095 box" method doesn't work any more? I used the last of my stack of 1095s recently and got some new ones in and they're now different dimension! The old ones were 15.375 x 12.5 x 3.125 The new ones are 15 x 12 x 3.125 Going from 12.5" wide to 12" wide means a 1092 doesnt fit anymore! Not sure how long ago this changed, but figured it was worth sharing a heads up.
  7. I see some doubles, and assume some missing from the full run? Any idea how many issues arent in the run?
  8. even as a collector there are right and wrong times to put more money into a book.
  9. I can't go this weekend. To Baltimore Comicon. I've got a 3 day and an additional Saturday pass. Winner will get the email with the receipt and the QR code that functions as the ticket for the show. Cost: send me some pictures of you at the con having fun. This is not the code. I'll send u the code.
  10. Rules: 1. No probation or HOS buyers 2. No returns 3. No Shipping costs 4. Acceptable payment form detailed in listing.
  11. Ecstatic to pick this up. My lone celebrity signature.
  12. Is there a date stamp or a hand written date on the back? (Would love a pic!) This book was not on Alan's list of Okajimas, and is the only issue of the title known in her collection. Very cool. This would DEFINITELY be a top 5 key for the pedigree. The "T" distribution code in the "S" in spirit is consistant with the markings from that Era of the pedigree (late '46 to late '53)
  13. some sellers try too hard to be salesmen... and it doesnt land. I'll look past it if the price is right. I'll also express dissatisfaction to the potential seller if I drove 4 hours to see "thousands of Siver Age comics that havent been touched in 50 years" and show up to 2 long boxes of picked thru bronze age trash that smell like smoke and mildew. That why picture evidence before making a long drive is key.
  14. Star Trek is leaving lots of licensing money on the table not getting a deal in place with Lego. Imagine... there'd be more versions of the Enterprise than the Falcon.... Reactor room playsets.... Enterprise bridge playsets.... Klingon Bird of Prey! How has this not happened @Buzzetta?!?!?!?
  15. Thanks for the writeup Buzz. It is a weird fence straddling set. Size-wise, it's a "kid" set, but as you mentioned the construction methods are more mature than you usually find in kid sets. The price point says "kid", but are they intending this as their mainstream Slave 1? Cause it's a definate step down from the 751243 20th Anniversary Slave-1 which was twice the price, but worth it for better scale and features. Wonder if they're seeing adult purchases lean toward the highest end sets (the $200-400 sets), and "mid-tier" sets that are around $100 are getting less interest, so they're "downgrading" those type sets to the more reasonable "pick up a set at Target" crowd who will impulse buy a $50 set...
