  1. That's what I thought too, and at the time shook my head at the grade... But just looked at an 8.5 I picked up and it has the same mark
  2. While we're on the subject, what exactly is this? Saw it on the 20K 9.8, thought it was a stain!

  5. There is a new fetishism for 9.8s. The hobby has been through this before, but I get the feeling this time it's a little different
  6. Flipping through the DD Annual, I don't actually see Namor and BP coming to blows. T'Challa punches Daredevil in the face though
  7. Frankly deadbeat consignors make these sites look very bad, and sometimes I'm not sure why they'd want to be in this business. On Pedigree, I've placed outright buy orders on books only to get no response & upon inquiring told "we haven't heard from that consignor in years" On MCS, seeing the overpricing nonsense is enough to make a first-time visitor not come back. Stuff they price themselves on the other hand is usually quite reasonable. Metro/CC pretends that stuff in their own stock is "consigned". I'd say CL is the best, but it has its shortcomings too. Some of the photos I've seen for instance are really quite poor. Much better policing of and responsibility for listings, consignors and consignors' pricing is needed across the board.
  8. Interesting twist, thanks to the buyer for posting his experience. I still think the bidders behind him may have wanted it for a centerfold marriage proposal. I'd be interested in people more familiar with the values of restored & qualified copies of this book to weigh in - what would a 3.0/4.0/5.0 (pick your grade) with a married centerfold be worth? Similar thing happened in a Facebook group I'm in, over a Marvel Spotlight 5. Owners of the book were breaking out the champagne to celebrate the high eBay auction result on an 8.0. I had watched that auction & gotten the notes, and it was obvious to me two bidders saw the copy as a slam-dunk CPR upgrade (maybe two grades), and were paying for the next grade up. Sure enough the next sale and sales since have been in line with recent data. Champagne is definitely in order for any owner of this book, and I've no doubt the value of a .5 and all grades ticks up with each passing week. I don't think this much though, but next sales will be interesting.
  9. Good analysis. Eternals -> Lemuria -> Atlantis -> Netherworld -> Subterranea -> Mole Man -> Fantastic Four -> Monsters Unleashed -> Elsa Bloodstne
  10. I wouldn't think Sony would own that character considering he didn't originate in Spider-Man comics
  11. This isn't a typical 0.5 & if you look at GPA anything with such a notation gets a separate entry. My thoughts were, two or more people have the centerfold, or see the value in potentially marrying this to one. Anyone care to value a 6.0-6.5 with a married centerfold?
  12. The #54 in 9.8 that sold for $4500 was on the Exchange for $3K just a couple of weeks ago
  13. Hope it's ok to post this here, but... did anyone catch these beauties that sold on eBay tonight?
  14. Frankly, today's silver age collector acts like Marvel didn't publish any comics before 1961
  15. I agree, it hasn't seemed chips or PQ affect auction results much & this grade "should" have sold for twice as much. This closed at 6:17 pm and I missed it thinking the auction was at 8. (I missed a couple of Bronze Spideys I was interested in which I thought went for low too). I'm putting this down to holder and choice of venue but wow what a steal. CC didn't deliver for the consignor here IMHO. This is coming from someone who misses my old AF 15 and am recently on the hunt again.
  16. Anyone take note of this result? Looks low, am I missing something? ComicConnect - AMAZING FANTASY #15 - CBCS VG/F: 5.0
  17. Up for debate, but I think it's a classic last-page cameo. Story continues in 162 eBay, 3 AM:
  18. I spoke to them just today about the same thing. They can email you the routing info for a wire transfer.
  19. 2002 Standard Catalog (Not sure how reliable any historical circulation figures are however)
  20. In general, I don't care for characters in long yellow trenchcoats
