  1. Throughout much of the course of the MCU, I've been saying I would go and see one of these movies every month. I enjoyed them that much (in the early- to mid-years. Post-Endgame, we shall see). If Disney's proposal was to co-finance one Spider-Man film every 3 years (or maybe one Spidey and one spin-off every three years), it's a pretty stingy offer as they'd basically be throttling Sony's ability to get their IP to market. I'm sure Sony would like 3 billion-dollar films a year, as would Warner, as would Disney. I'm sure studios are thinking even beyond that. Superhero IP right now, the Marvel brand in particular, is like a right to mint money. I wonder what CBMs are projected to do in business over the next 10 years. The potential upside is huge, and every studio wants a slice. I feel bad for the Godzillas, the Sherlock Holmeses, any other franchise trying to get a foothold in today's environment. Marvel is king of the monsters.
  2. I wish they could work out a deal, but in business you need to be aggressive, believe in yourself and always be ready to walk away or you will get pushed around. Whether right or wrong, Sony is probably thinking they can parlay this into 3 billion-dollar, self-financed Spider-Man Cinematic Universe (SMCU) movies a year. What incentive do they have to allow Disney to take profit that is potentially Sony’s which, with the current unprecedented CBM popularity, they have to believe is money already in the bank. Are they underestimating the importance of a shared MCU continuity and being associated with the Feige brand? That is their gamble.
  3. Can somebody make a meme of Tobey Maguire crying over this
  4. I am a big Virgil Finlay fan. Google image search brings up a lot of his artwork. HA.com has also sold a lot of his pieces over the years
  5. Comics starring characters with comic strip origins seem typically worth little compared to those with characters created specifically for comic books. The Phantom being another example, there are probably dozens more.
  6. @BuzzettaYou should just say No, I don’t think it has been pressed. That is what buyers want to hear (so they can press it themselves and get an upgrade). Will lead to a faster sale for you.
  7. So we can back out of deals here by claiming to have lost the book? Duly noted.
  8. No issues with the content of the threads at all. I enjoy reading them too.
  9. Good suggestion, thanks. I was also curious if any members could explain why they were any different. Why we allow “advertising” in non- advertising areas for some selling venues & not others.
  10. Appreciate the viewpoints. But if in said thread I post “here’s a link to an interesting book”, and I do that on behalf of a friend who consigned said book, how is that different from someone posting their eBay listings in Comics General?
  11. Fact he claimed free books is irrelevant.
  12. Don’t all threads about ComicLink, ComicConnect auctions etc such as this, really belong in the “Comics Market - Sales Advertising (eBay, Dealers, etc)” category? Their proliferation in other areas has always struck me as a double standard.
  13. Just one dude’s opinion who is not familiar with fine print of buying & selling here.
  14. A few thoughts: The book will turn up, and if it does, seller owes buyer the completion of this transaction. If this is not a PL-worthy situation, what is? Because anyone could simply claim loss of book. When seller lists book, he advertises that it is for sale and it can be produced upon sale. “Losing it” is not an excuse, even if it really happened. How does he get off PL? He does not. Seller should not be allowed to sell on the boards again.
  15. One of the most common mistakes old school raw graders make I think is not to mark down enough for things like non-color breaking stresses / dings and surface dirt. If you have the books dry cleaned and pressed they may well come back with your pre-assessed grade or better. IMHO you should accept the advice of the stalwarts here and adapt to the times and learn how to mix CGC into your business.
