I listed a copy of the rare SALLY FORTH #8 (1995, Eros Comix) on eBay. It's really nice-looking overall, but unfortunately has rust on its staples. Still, this is a very hard to find comic, and otherwise is really snazzy. The only other issues with it are light indentations and light creases, which could be pressed out by a professional with no problem, I'm sure.

Be sure to check out other cool stuff at my eBay store! :-)

    No photo description available.

The sad thing about this photo, if I am correct, is that I believe this is taken at a test site for the atom bomb in the 1950s, and this soldier and many others were there as basically "guinea pigs" to see how radiation effects humans. There's a video on Archive.org (and I'm guessing YouTube) where you see the soldiers crawling out from trenches after a bomb was detonated, and then walking towards the mushroom cloud.

    The story:

It's pretty sad that you can't trust people to do the right thing. For instance, a couple of months ago, I had a fellow on eBay purchase three separately listed items from me. He had actually asked me before bidding if I could knock off from the price if he bought all three items. It was a reasonable amount, so I agreed.

I sent them off quickly, and then as soon as he got them he opened three return cases through eBay, claiming they did not match the description. He used a "cut-and-paste" excuse for requesting the returns, and did not make any mention of how the actual items differed from the pictures I had provided. That's because I took great pictures, if I might humbly say, and they were representative of the books he received. It was obvious to me that he had "buyer's regret" because these were fairly pricey items.
Anyway, I decided to accept the returns so as to not have any more hassle over the items. Unfortunately, I mistakenly had hit the "refund" button instead of the "return" button, which eBay makes less conspicuous. I realized this error after having refunded the first two of three items. Resigned to it, and because I was having difficulty in sending a return for the final item, I sent out that as a refund, too. Still, I wanted to get my items returned to me and sent the buyer a message telling him I would appreciate if he did that. He ignored my request.

It's now past the point of him being able to leave me feedback, which he never did one way or the other. Also, I am sure this buyer, who I learned also sells on eBay himself, would eventually list or otherwise try to unethically sell the items he received from me. I waited to see if that was the case up to the point where the opportunity for him to leave feedback expired. I did so, in case he tried to leave me a negative, and if I needed to prove to eBay the kind of fellow we were dealing with. It's now past that time, so it's moot and a done deal in any event.

It's very sad that people can't be honorable, ethical, or just decent about things. This guy basically stole those items from me. I am sure he would try to justify it, as people who do wrong often bend over backwards to justify their wrongs. Sure, nobody is perfect, but some don't even try, or use imperfection as an excuse to wrong others of not honor their commitments to people.
  5. I listed a three day auction for a raw copy of BATMAN: THE KILLING JOKE, 9th Print, on eBay tonight:

    Link to the eBay listing!

No reserve, and I am starting it out at the VERY low bid of 99 cents.

Also, I put up a slew of cool comic books as "Buy It Now" listings, which you can view at my eBay store:

Link to large version over at FLICKR!

I have decided to post another update, though I was hoping I could find a few more covers before doing so. It appears we may have ran into a standstill for the time being. Still, I am amazed you guys found so many as it was. Thanks again, all of you who helped. :golfclap:

If you still look from time to time, and find anymore to add to the display, please share the covers here. I will be searching again from time to time, as I get the opportunity. I will share any new covers I locate here, too. (thumbsu

This is, of course, open to EVERYONE who wants to help find the other covers.

Have a look at Jungle Comics # 67 - July 1945 - for the one on the right. I can convince myself I see the main figure of the man at shoulder level and the circle from the gong right above center and the shadow to the right of the gong has the same shape as the black spot we see to the right … You be the judge -

I'll try and see what it looks like, but the right side of the cover doesn't seem to match, and the logo would be more visible, I would think.

  8. So far you guys have helped to find more than 30 title! Very nice!

It's both fun and frustrating trying to fit the color versions into the original photo. It really is like a puzzle, but each cover is going to have varying degrees of twists and bends and such that make it impossible to perfectly place the color pic atop the black and white counterpart. I am also limited at how many times (two, btw) I can warp an image after shrinking it down already, before the pixels turn to mush. LOL!

I really appreciate all the assistance. We've honestly gotten further than I thought. I know it's not possible to get all those publications ID'ed, as some on the very far right are so washed out there are no details to go on, and those back row comics and magazines are really difficult to make out. Still, it's great seeing what we can fill in.

Any idea what those giant magazines are on the upper shelf past the pulp section?

By the Atlas? One has an American flag on it, and I think the word "united states" is on the cover, but I may be wrong about that.

Sad thing for a Google search is writing "United States" or "America" 1945 and not getting a deluge of WWII stuff to sort through. Eep! Still, that is one I have especially been trying to figure out for some time now.
