  1. What's the contest? 100 meter sprint? 100 meter butterfly? Marathon? Discus? Arm wrestling? Free throw shooting?
  2. Based on your scans, I don't think it needs to be conserved at all. In fact, unless there are more significant issues that are not revealed in your scan, disclosed conservation could actually harm the potential resale price. Residue and white out don't bother most OA collectors unless it's really distracting, which it's definitely not in your piece. They're part of the charm of vintage OA since they were produced for commercial purposes. If you're planning on selling it anyways, I definitely wouldn't bother.
  3. Very cool piece! Burma is a particular favorite of mine. I can't answer your first question, but as to your second question, I can't imagine selling Caniff OA anywhere other than Heritage. Every Caniff piece of note that has come to market, including the very first Terry & the Pirates strip and various WW 2 miscellanea created by him, has been sold on Heritage.
  4. As mentioned a few posts above yours, it was finally purchased by a real buyer (a Boardie actually).
  5. Don't tell the comic book submittors, as they're liable to go ballistic if they hear this! Seriously though, that's great and congratulations. CGC are clearly prioritizing this new line of business and putting resources behind it to make it successful. As they say, you only get one chance to make a good first impression.
  6. Not really strange, but adam strange.
  7. So even though people were a bit surprised by this recent price, you're saying that the consignor may have actually taken a hair cut, particularly after Heritage's fees? Wow.
  8. Which was surprising because they've been kind of dead for a while.
  9. If I could have swung it back then I would have but sadly economics were quite a bit different. There were so many books I was after back then, and every time the Church National 7 came up, it became cheaper(!), so there was no urgency and I prioritized other books because I figured "I'll always get another chance if I don't win it this time". Stupid!
  10. It's all relative. Obviously it's not common compared to Hulk 181. But for a GA mega-key, that's pretty "common"!
  11. What blows me away on many of Peter's books, including the non-Churches, is how vivid the colors still are.
  12. Love this cover, and you got it at a nice discount from Mr. Keller, if I recall correctly!
  13. Yeah, but it's Frontier Fighters!
  14. It's been one of my big regrets that I didn't buy this on one of the many times it came up at Heritage after its initial sale, as its price was spiraling downwards.
  15. Yikes, this story just keeps getting more and more painful. So is the page.
  16. Yes but what piece Does it rhyme with Eanuts? Es.
  17. Here's a mindboggling factoid: the loss that the seller of the 9.8 TOS 39 took in this auction would by itself almost cover the new sale price of the 9.8 TOS 39 and the TOS 39 OA page.
  18. Note to self: enter punishment bid when bidding begins.
  19. The Rudolph and Sgt Rock weren't big surprises. The Sgt Rock is impossible to find in grade. The Superboy Annual was a surprise, because although I suspected it would go for a big price because it's impossible to find in grade, I didn't think it would go for that much. The Frontier Fighters, on the other hand... !!! I know nothing about the book, is there anything that makes it desirable?
  20. The value of a book that Peter could display on these Boards while Levine was trying to find any copy? Priceless.
  21. The whole point of being that rich is you don't have to hang out with the little people anymore.
