  1. That is terrible. I can't imagine. I wonder how much work is left - if Whedon will have any real impact on the film at all
  2. Pretty much that ^ I didn't say it was underhanded or anything - just what I was told by the theater. If they can cut into the WB take on their second weekend, why wouldn't they? When you spend what it takes to make a Pirates movie, you don't want to lose the top spot on the second weekend - you do what you can to keep the word of mouth going, not get replaced. Especially when such a deal could so easily be tied into some future incentives for MCU / Star Wars premieres
  3. So, interesting note on this - I think WW is going to have a tough time because of Disney. I called my local large format (one of the old school IMAX screens where it's still legit 6 stories high). They won't be showing WW because Disney cooked up a deal with a bunch of IMAX screens to keep extra showings of Pirates on the calendar. Turns out, a bunch of the IMAX screens around me at AMC locations aren't showing WW opening weekend because of the commitment to Disney & Pirates. I can only find 1 out of 4 in my area showing it IMAX. That will definitely cut into revenue since so much is being made off both IMAX and 3D these days. Could undermine the opening.
  4. Sometimes I wish I could get paid for my preview predictions. I feel like I am constantly seeing movie previews and saying to a friend, "that is going to BOMB." I'd say I'm running about 75% accuracy rating. How is it the people who actually DO do this for a job can't see the piles of poo before it hits the fan?
  5. From my CAF Occasionally I'll see here a story about how some wife or girlfriend was amazing and bought an incredible piece of art for their significant other. Every time I saw something like that, I wished that my wife had enough comic knowledge to do the same. Let me be clear, my wife rocks and after 9 years of marriage I'm still super stoked I get to be with her. But, for as supportive as she is about my enjoyment of comics, she doesn't share that passion. Well, this Christmas, she blew me away with this surprise:I can't be 100% sure because as a kid my love of super heroes didn't actually start with comic books - I didn't start collecting until much later so I didn't really keep track. But one of the very first (if not the first) comics I owned was Superman 121. The story wasn't really action packed (although it's amazing how relevant it still is today), but the cover really grabbed me - very powerful. Well, many years later I learned that cover was hanging in a local comic shop. I'm sure I showed my wife on one of the 2 occasions she's ever been there with me, but I was also sure she was only half paying attention. Boy was I wrong.Without so much as hinting, she went to the shop and opened a negotiation with the owner to buy it for me. Took her a couple days of calling an going back in, but he finally let it go. An incredible gift and my first OA cover, from possibly the first book I ever owned (did I mention my wife rocks?)
  6. Thanks - sorry I should have been more specific. Was hoping for some of the poster art for the new WW movie. Those Empire covers are beautiful and was hoping for a comic with the same Thanks for the response though.
  7. Does anyone know if there are comic variants that use Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman on the cover?
  8. Wanna see pics! Would you share ballparks on them too? I'd love to have a HUSH page someday and would love to know what the current market is (approx) if you're willing to share. Congrats man!
  9. Thought that was probably the case. Thanks for the confirmation
  10. Animation Cel - Superman/Batman Apocalypse Does anyone know whether the latest WB Animation films are still being done using animation cels or whether it's all digital? I would love to add a good cel from the Superman/Batman Apocalypse (2010) movie to my collection (if they exist) but I've not seen cels from anything except the TV shows.
  11. Not much happening here. Anyone thinking of going?
  12. I like black matte myself and will often use a blue core black matte because just that little bit of blue often makes the edges of the piece pop since OA boards usually have the blue line dimensions/edges on them.
  13. The whole thing makes me sad. I really enjoyed his work on Batgirl - really loved it.
  14. The first time that happened to me at a price I could actually afford was actually about a month ago. It was a Michael Turner page from his run on Superman/Batman (Supergirl) and I've been looking for a great affordable page from that series for years. It was a tremendously exciting feeling even after having to sell a few things retroactively to be able to pay for it
  15. I'm pretty excited to hear this - I really hope it doesn't fall through.
  16. Not really looking for that but might be open depending on what it was. shoot me a message
