  1. That's great. I was reading that series a month back and it had me laughing.
  2. First off is the cover to Deadpool #15 vol.2 done by the talented, Jason Pearson. I really loved the covers he did for this series and had been wanting to add one to collection for a while. So when I saw it in the auction preview on Comiclink some months back I told myself I would get it! Next up is another Deadpool cover also from volume 2. This is to issue 35 which was I was really excited to see when it came up for sale since it was one of my favorite covers for the series and I had always wanted to own. Just like the with the other cover I got into the mindset where I told myself I needed to win it or I would be regretting it for a long time. Getting these two covers was great, not only because they were pieces I really wanted but because I hadn't gotten any deadpool related stuff for a while at that point and had even sold my 9.8 copy of NM98 a year before. If you don't know I really like that character, lol. Another interesting thing happened, I got my first commission! My idea for a commsion had been a moon Knight piece with the artist giving there own take on Sienks well-known Fist of Konshu painted cover. I had been trying to decide which artist to get for a while, and had finally decided on, Jeff Slemons who advetizes on Comicartfans. After looking at his work examples I and the price for them I couldn't help but reach out and work out a deal. My first commission expereince turned out great with, Jeff staying in contact and showing my different sketches he did for the idea, with my piece being finished and delivered in one month. For the last highlight I was fortunante enough to get a piece with pencils done by the recently passed, Steve Ditko (RIP). I feel really lucky that I was able to get a piece by such an artist and important figure in the comic industry/history. The artwork also being a from his time onn, ROM Spaceknight which is a title I love with the artwork showing an important scene from the final issue #75 making it all the more special to me.
  3. A lot has happened in these few months since my last post in terms of collecting and a believe an update is in order. Since my last post, my comic art collection has been reduced in size with me selling some pieces I thought I never would that were hallmarks of my collecting interest. This ranges from my Bill Sienkiewicz Moon Knight page, my John Buscema Avengers page of Kang's origin retold, and my Kirby page to name a few. I could go on but I think these get the point across. This was a hard decision to make for sure but a few months ago I had the chance to make a grail level piece for me a reality and needed to raise the funds. I'm sure most people ask themselves or at least heard the scenrio of if they would trade or sell their collection if it meant they would be able to own a certain piece or comic. For me, while it might not be my whole collection I it was stil some of my best pieces. If everything goes as planned I should have the item in hand by around September and will be sure to post it here for you guys. In other news I was also able to add a few pieces to my collection. Some have already been sold since I needed to funds as explained above which was a downer for sure (especially since I lost dollar wise ) But was also able to hold on to some which I'll be posting.
  4. I remember another artist doing this. Jason Pearson who did some nice covers for Deadpool. He destroyed the cover to #24 because it showed a battle happening in Las Vegas and did it as some sort of solidarity after the shooting that happened. I think that was naive myself and think that he should have done a charity auction with the piece instead.
  5. The new owner probably sees it as a big flip after the other cover went for over $40K.
  6. I'm in the works of getting what I consider to be a grail piece for me. I don't want to say what it is though and risk jinxing it. Why are collectors so superstitious when it comes to this type of stuff anyway?
  7. Yes and no. I sold off some comics including ones I didn't think I would with a large amount went to comic art. I still plan on buying comics but changing my focus to key issues and cool covers now. I also did it because I want to save space And comic art is much easier to store than comics are.
  8. My bet would be Ethan Van Sciver. He's the only artist I know of that has status and a political following.
  9. Hi, I have a few pieces in the current focused auction ranging from Dave Stevens to Somin Bisley. If interested have a look. Doc Savage and the Shadow prelim by Dave Stevens (is framed) Moon Knight #1 Vol.7 pg.12 half splash by Declan Shalvey DarkHawk #21 pg.28-29 Double page splash by Mike Manley Super-Villian Team-Up #3 pg.26 by George Evans (Fun Doom dialogue) 2000 AD #585 Judge Dredd: Bat Mugger Title Splash by Alan Davis (In color and big) Detective Comics #598 pg.21 by Denys Cowan (Part of the "Blind Justice" story arc) ROM Spaceknight #11 pg.15 by Sal Buscema (A --script is apparently in the works for a movie) ROM Spaceknight #14 pg.6 by Sal Buscema Halo Graphic Novel pg.48 by Simon Bisley
  10. $12 dollars short of 9K. I think the main issue people might have had was that the head was a stat even though it was still actual art and not a reproduction one. http://www.comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2FAUCTIONS%2FDEFAULT.ASP%3FFocused%3D1%26x%3D0%26y%3D0%26pg%3D23%23Item_1252215&id=1252215&itemType=1
  11. Me too would be a pure nostalgia buy if I went after it. Remember watching it when I was younger along with a few other cartoons. I actually regret not going after a lot of Samurai Jack pages from issue one that adapted the first episode that sold a while back.
  12. Thought the stuff I liked had some decent results, namely the cover to Scalped #1 and the Spider-Man Blue page which I would have like to make a run at if I wasn't on a selling spree at the moment.
  13. Drawing I did of Venom from a youtube tutorial a few weeks back. Was my first time trying inks.
  14. That page wasn't offered as part of the ones put on sale. Out of the 19 pages only 11 or so were put up.
  15. Not sure if you saw it or not, NoMan but it turns out the original art interiors to issue 1 was owned by Sal Buscema all this time and he just never sold them. Two groups were put up on his agent's site after page 2 from the first issue sold on eBay. I think they all sold already though.
  16. This year has been very good for my core collecting focus. Deadpool Vol.2 #15 Cover Deadpool Vol.2 #35 Cover ROM Spaceknight #75 pg.19

  18. Finally got around to posting some pieces I've gotten through the months on CAF. Figure I'll post them here too. Beast of Burden #2 cover. The saddest but also my favorite story from the series. I also think it's the one people recall the most from it. Taskmaster splash. Sadly its only inks on bluelines. I bought this not realizing that. It's also pretty small at only around 12'x8' since the artists were on a deadline. I still love it though, inking is still an art and I mean just look at that Taskmaster. Page from Halo: The Graphic Novel. More of a nostalgic buy since I don't usually buy something like this. The colors really pop in person. Double Splash page from DarkHawk #8
  19. Yes, Cool Lines for a while now has been known to be adding stats to pieces and not just overlays to art pieces. Even doing it to unpublished pieces and other things they can pass off as covers. When this has come up on the boards it has been widely agreed upon to be damaging to the art.
