  1. Another one from the collection and in better shape than issue 13. Some spine issues still but not as bad as before along with the rest of the edges being pretty good. Also, you can see a none color-breaking line on the front which would be pressable. I would put this one at around a 6.5 and maybe higher at a 7.0.
  2. Original owner collection staying in the family and would like to get some second opinions on the grade. I put it at around a 4.5 myself with how beatup the spine is along with the small and long tear in the middle back, and tape pull/residue on the top. This one is particularly in poor shape compared to the others so I think he must have really just liked this issue and read it often.
  3. Is this info online, or published somewhere? It sounds interesting.
  4. First comic purchase in a long time and a LB Cole cover to boot. Presents well in the front for a 4.5 since I believe it was hammered for corner and a central crease running the down the middle in the back.
  5. So do people believe that the oa part of the hobby is also now facing some price softening with these prices even if not as severe as the lockdown highs for comics?
  6. Saw the trailer and it's a no for me. Just looked off and wish that they tried to incorporate the original design more besides just the collar mane. Give a little leopard print accessories, or symbols on the vest to represent the lion eyes.
  7. Amazing how you can just tell when he's tracing over a porn photo.
  8. I've sold a lot of my art pieces and really all of my higher-end comics. The only graded book I have left is my 1.0 Tomb of Terror #15 since I knew it would be pretty hard to replace since it would be hard to find one so affordable.
  9. Was the Marvel Comics: An Untold Story the one that had some controversy when it came out because it made Stan Lee come off negatively or was that another one that came out around the same time? An interesting one I would suggest is Eric Stanton & the History of the Bizarre Underground It's more about the history of the underground fetish comics and the life of the artist Eric Stanton so not about the more mainstream topics of the comic world. Stranton was also at one point roommates with Steve Ditko with the book talking about the work they two might have done together such as Stranton apparently sometimes being the one who would draw women characters for some of Ditko's work and a possible influence in the creation of Spider-man since he had a relative that he would call, Aunt May.
  10. RIP. Not unexpected for someone his age but still sad and a feeling of loss all the same. His Spider-Man like for many I suspect is what first got me interested in comics where I would look at the covers of my dad's old Spidey comics. Praying for him and his family in this hard time.
  11. Prices are falling but somehow ROM Spaceknight #1 has become almost a $300 book in 9.8.
  12. I sold almost all but one of my graded comics and a lot of OA pieces that I didn't think I would have let go. It's bittersweet since they were pieces I really liked and have gone up a lot more in value since I've sold them meaning getting similar example to replace them would be very costly or even impossible now. Plus original art being a 1:1 means if you really liked a certain piece you can only get it if you can locate the new owner and able to get them to sell it back. The reason I did this though was similar to you; to put towards a much larger purchase. In my case it was original art. I think you should ask yourself how hard would these books be to replace if you ever regretted selling at least some of them and if you would be willing to pay the current or possible future higher prices to replace them if you bought your original copies when they were much cheaper. The majority would probably be easy, even more so if you were willing to settle for a lower grade but paying more might be a mental block if you remember grabbing it much cheaper and not willing to justify it to yourself.
  13. Won a 4.5 graded pre-code horror book in tonight's comic connect auction by pure luck where it caught my eye when it was about too end and happen to win with my throw away bid. Looking at what I got it for and comparing it to sold listings I saw that I was able to get it for cheaper than it sold for the past few years in the same or similar grade. One that sold on cc in 2020 in the same grade and two on Heritage, an ungraded copy that sold in 2019 and one that sold for almost double mine graded at 4.0 which sold in 2022. What I noticed though was how cheap this book was in high grade in only 2016-17 when looking at CC sold listings. A 8.5 copy in 2017 sold for less than the 2022 sale of a 4.0 and a 9.6 high grade pedigree copy sold for only a little more than that in the same year. I can only image what those same copies would sell for now. So while it seems that prices did soften in comparison to the 20-22' sales it seems that prices overall are still healthy from before lockdown collecting hikes. At least for some collecting categories like pre-code horror.
  14. I Didn't order from CGN. I ordered directly from the book publisher. See the first part of my post.
  15. Yeah, that's a weird choice for sure. Finding out though that a commission of yours ends up being published is the dream though for many. Honestly surprised they didn't go with the Marvel Masterwork pin-up which was actually repurposed from one of the rejected unused covers for the first issue.
  16. I'm focusing less on comics now and more on the OA side and sadly those prices never seem to go down. I'll probably keep my eyes open for a few books still. One of the things I had regrets about during the price hikes was not trying to get some of the more affordable Marvel keys like DD1, Avengers1 etc. Will also be keeping a look out for pre-code horrors but the key covers for those also never seem to decline.
  17. Yep, all 3 pieces of it. Probably the one I'll end up getting.
  18. Ordered from them directly for the Spider-man one.I thought they would take better care of the product in shipping since I was concerned by how easy the cardboard holder could be damaged but it ended up being the opposite. Horrible experience, shipping took forever with no reason stated. When it finally did come they had not even packed it but wrapped up the cardboard part in plastic wrapping and stock the shipping labeled on.
  19. ROM has 4 too. Cover to issue 1 as the standard, along with title splash to issue 1 variant, cover to issue 17 with the X-Men, and a Perez cover variant of a illustration he did which I think is the weakest of the group.
  20. As much as I like a nice pin-up, splash, and cover like everyone else, there are also a lot of panel pages I like. From Swampthing Annual 2 with the Demon's dialogue just being really well done by, Moore in this scene who simply wants something beautiful on display just so he can have people see how horrible everything else is in comparison. Always liked this page from ROM which gave us a different view of Galactus and the comparison he gave to the Silver Surfer who he seemed to have regrets with. I was really lucky to get the OA for this page too which was a nice find.
  21. Always loved this piece done by Steacy, though I never could figure out what he was hanging from.
  22. There's also a large article about ROM in Back Issue! #32 as part of a greater piece about Bill Manto. It's around 15 pages so it'll take me a little time to post the pages.
