  1. I came for the auction results but stayed for the monetary policy discussion.
  2. It is and isn't. Since he's so old he was apparently AI assisted with it.
  3. There was another nice page from that issue that introduced MK in the last big Heritage auction. Went for a similar amount with it being one of the best pages in the book. It would be interesting to see how much of the price increase from this issue is from it being drawn by Zeck verse MK popularity since it's a two-part story with #23 being drawn by Jim Mooney with quality of the page being equal. I use to own a page from #22 but sold it when getting funds for a big purchase but have since replaced it with a page from #23. Hoping I can grab a decent page from #22 again though in the future if prices every get soft.
  4. Moon Knight prices were strong. Not just the Sienks stuff but other artists as well. Whether CL or other platforms it seems to be that Moon Knight material is still going strong from what I saw so if prices are going down that's one character that's been able to resist it to a certain extent at least. I did see some pieces though that I felt did go for a little low compared to what I saw as the quality of the work.
  5. I remember bidding on that Long Halloween DPS with the Scarecrow when it was on Clink years back. Think I might have even been the underbidder. Wonder what the asking price is for it now?
  6. Board lurkers are now frantically emailing them with too good an offer to refuse as we type.
  7. I seen a few sell on dealers sights that looking at the ones still available would have cost between $500 to $1000 per page. Not my thing but there seems to be a few people who are willing to buy them if no original art exist otherwise for it. Though pricing it at the same level or even more than a lot of other modern pieces done in traditional media is a little too enthusiastic in a lot of instances where you might get one or two people to buy a page the majority seem to stay away with how long they often sit. I've seen pages I've liked only to see they were mono prints and change my mind.
  8. Reading threads like these makes me feel frustrated for the people who commissioned the artists and how long they can get jerked around for. Even in the cases where the piece is finally done and delivered I can't help but feel it would be unsatisfying in a way with the piece being tainted by how negative the experience was. I've only gotten one commission (But hope to get more done in the future at some point) and honestly feel amazed by how fast they were able to deliver it (one month) after hearing about the multi-year long sagas some have. Beginners luck I guess.
  9. Not really my thing since I feel like I'm missing out on something and will pass if only inks exists. If the original pencils also exist I'd have to think about it and would expect to have them sold as a set. I only have 1 printed blue line and that was because the seller didn't say it was one in the auction description. After I got the piece I was a little suspicious and after asking the and inker through email he validated my concerns. The seller which was selling it on behalf of a consigner agreed to a partial refund or a return since they didn't know it was printed pencils. Since I didn't want to go through the hassle of having to get packing material, along with the price still on the low end I decided to keep it. It's also pretty small for comic art too at 8 by 12 inches. The reason the inker gave me was because they were on a deadline crunch for the issue and decided to draw on a smaller paper size to save on time. It was also why they did printed bluelines where they normally did inks over original pencils.
  10. Besides the amount of art Sal has done he's also known for how he signs his pages. Not always in the most desired parts in the negative space of the art itself.
  11. There's a lot of newer artists in the hobby who are really skilled and can command good prices despite how new their work is. That's not for all of them of course you still have many skilled and talented artist whose work sells very cheep. With the prices we're seeing in the market lately I think a lot of collectors will be paying attention to and building an appreciation for modern artists where they can get a nice piece for a fraction of what the stuff they use to buy is now going for-Me being one of them. Not to say I didn't buy from them before but think they'll make up a wider representation of my collection than before going forward unless prices for pieces I like start going down. Here are two I bought a while ago direct from artist or their art rep. Moon Knight #2 from the title done a few years back by Declan Shalvey and a Variant cover to the Taskmaster limited series done last year by Nick Bradshaw.
  12. Congrats on this one. I remember you asking about this piece in the "Have you seen this art" thread a few times and it's always nice to see someone get a specific piece they've been hunting for.
  13. Might finally have a shot at something with the Russian oligarchs out of the running.
  14. I'm thinking of getting some pre-code horror works and was wondering what you guys would suggest for what brand and editions I should try to get them in? The only ones I've really seen reprint these titles is PS Artbooks and not sure if any others exist.
  15. Just came in the mail. Marvel Masters of Suspense volume 1.
  16. Got this guy but haven't been able to set him up yet since I don't have the space at the moment. Will probably wait until I can redo the room a little and put up another bookshelf or two. Also really love the custom commission stuff I'm seeing. Can anyone here recommend someone for something like that? There's one or two characters I would commission since I doubt I'd ever see them get official licensed releases, either not being that popular or licensing issues.
  17. They also have that collector edition coming out for Spider-man limited at a 1000 copies. Not sure the $600 price tag is worth it though for what just seems to be a slipcase that differentiates it from the regular one.
  18. Yeah a lot of Venom, Since he's heating up again there should be some strong results. That Bagley page trips me up for some reason. I keep getting the legs confused when looking at it. Another one to keep an eye will be the cover to Spider-man and his Amazing Friends #1. It has a lot going for it. Besides being a nice nostalgia piece and issue one cover it's Romita Sr. drawing both Spidey the Green Goblin. Wouldn't surprise me if it was a grail for some people who watched the show and grabbed the comic as a result.
  19. Tales of Suspense 39 page is up! Nice that it even has Iron Man in costume.
  20. A few pieces I think will be interesting to watch this auction First the ones with no scans Frank Miller Batman: The Dark Knight #3 cover Romita Amazing Spider-man #50 page which features the first appearance of Kingpin X-Men 106 cover Bolland Judge Dredd Cover Really nice Byrne She-Hulk splash And while everyone is talking about the Dazzler cover I think this unused cover to issue 1 of Spider-Women is also pretty nice. Other stuff worth looking at with the record sale in the last auction would be the ASM #252 page with the black costume shown and a group lot that has the cover prelim for that issue along with a costume design for the black suit.
