  1. It's been a bit since I've posted on the boards, but I got this snazzy little funny book in the mail today. Was immediately looking for an another copy once I had some sellers remorse after I sold my 5.0 last year.....
  2. Whoa! Some of those precode JIM's just went for some crazy, silly prices, and my head's just spinning from watching them go, and go, and, go, and...... Is the high grade/nice presenting Atlas market trending towards those prices, or did it help that there were so many different precode issues of JIM in one auction that it caused a bit of a feeding frenzy? I also noticed that the Atlas JIM's were a main feature in the recent Comic Connect catalogue. Do ya'll think that advertising had something to do with the price push? I still can't get over that the JIM 14 6.0 OW, w a front cover crease went for $2300?!? I'm glad I have a clean CGC 6.5 OW/W of that book tucked away in my "keepsies" pile (think I paid about $90 for it raw once upon a time), because I would never be able to own a copy at this rate.
  3. I thought it went for a very fair price, and that copy has real rich cover inks for its grade. Congratulations!!!!
  4. I usually don't have much interest or luck meandering through the Ebay listings, but this one popped up a couple months ago, so I was happy to scoop it up....
  5. Found this one in the Silver Age section on Ebay a couple months back. Been looking for a nice copy for some time, and I couldn't resist
  6. Ok, let me get my groove back on by posting s'more books
  7. I would certainly put Astonishing #30 in the top 10. It's not only a standout, iconic Atlas book, it's also a very iconic book in the PCH genre, and if any high grade copies popped up at auction, I'm sure it would command a premium. I might also put Men's Adventures #25 in the top 10 of iconic Atlas horror covers, and I'd possibly throw AIWW #3 on the honorable mention list. My "sleeper" iconic Atlas cover would be AIWW #24. It's got a bad- Anderson "hypodermic needle, dude being split in half" cover. Whoever ended up with the CGC 6.5 copy in the Comic Link Auction last Fall, got it for an absolute steal IMHO. Let's be frank though, we could probably easily come up with a top 50 iconic Atlas cover list, along with 50 honorable mentions in the blink of an eye. I might receive a little flack for this one, but I don't see Strange Tales #1 as an iconic cover (or at least on par with a couple of the other books in your top ten, such as Venus #19, & Menace #5). Yes, ST #1 is a very tough and important key issue to a long running title that spanned from the days of PCH through the Bronze Age of super heroes, and it does command a very solid price in all grades, but the cover art doesn't stand out to me any differently than the first few issues of Mystic, Adventures Into Terror #4, or Journey Into Unknown Worlds #5. Are those all very cool Atlas books and covers, absolutely (!!!), but they all seem to have a similar "Atlas house style" vibe, that a big chunk of their horror covers had in '50, '51, & early '52, and that makes it tough for me to distinguish one from the other, except for the hefty price tag that goes with Strange Tales #1. Sorry for the long rant/essay. That's just my , but you have some incredible books on your list, and it's a fun topic to bring up, especially with how the demand has recently fluctuated due to the increased interest in certain Atlas covers. Cheers Great response and good points, just to be clear, my list was only for the "most valuable" 10 Atlas PCH books and those on the outer edges. Ooops, I see If we're talking just monetary value, pretty much every high grade, pre-code issue of Mystery Tales would take over big chunks of both lists, based on what they've sold for over the last couple of years with sale prices ranging from $2300 to over $6K .....and a high grade Astonishing #3 would probably knock it out of the park in auction as well

  9. Awesome books, Jimbo and Jayman!!! That Suspense #14 has always been a personal fave Here's a solid Everett cover that's been tucked away in the collection (honestly, forgot I had it until recently. Shame on me ).
  10. A big thanks to Mr Bedrock for this beauty It's a little out of my collecting focus, and my photo really washes out the richness of the colors, but how could I resist this Feldstein classic
  11. Killer book. I keep waiting for a nice one to become available. Very tough above 5.0 or so. Solid book Vaultkeeper! The blue and red inks look really rich on that copy
  12. Such a great cover, and I'm a big fan of Heck's Comic Media work! Your group shots are no bore at all. Please show them all
  13. Wow! An impossible issue to find, and your copy looks far superior to the designated grade. Congratulations!
  14. I have some real nice Atlas and PCH scattered across the interweb via auction and BIN..... 15. Wow! The mail box was indeed very kind to you. Congratulations with picking up so many classics! I'm gonna have to give my mail box a stern lecture to "step it up"
  16. .....and I'll close out my small barrage of black cover Atlas PCH with another one of my all-time faves, created by Mr. Maneely.... Alright, I'm out, everyone have a great Friday the 13th, and show that special someone a little more affection this weekend ....... or else you won't hear the end of it
  17. A subtle composition, but one of my favorite Heath covers
  18. Even though you can't really tell because of the photo, I thought this one would grade a little better, but I'm still very happy to call it a "keeper"
  19. I love it every time the Atlas thread gets rolling Here's a subpar pic of a nice Heath cover. Seems to be the same couple that gets into trouble on the cover of JIM #8
  20. Awesome books Jimbo! A high grade Mystic 24 has been on my "want list" for quite some time.
  21. I've always felt that JIUW was their flagship title, really even above Marvel Tales, AFA cover art and stories went. I've posted my stash of them before, but being the show-off that I am, eh eh; Beautiful run of JIUW, fifties
  22. Wow! That JIM 62 is unbelievably gorgeous
