  1. I think with three available they'll probably go for less than that comiclink sale. I like the book and the character but that's just crazy money
  2. I wonder if the Voldemort label had anything to do with the final price. Last one to sell on Ebay went for $460 and since then there has been one hanging out at $440 without bites. Looks like a solid book!
  3. Wow........ https://www.comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2Fauctions%2Fpreview%2Easp%3F%5FSORT%3DYES%26code%3D2015nov%26f1%3Di%2ECondition%26ODire1%3DDESC%26f2%3Di%2EType%252C%2Bi%2ETitle%252C%2Bi%2EIssueNumber%26ODire2%3DASC%26f3%3Di%2ECondition%26ODire3%3DDESC%23Item%5F1085733&id=1085733 Holy mackerel! For $3500 I'm wishing I had two copies so I could unload one. Also, I feel like this might qualify in some sense for reprint value. Certainly a less expensive way to read the story - http://dc.wikia.com/wiki/DC_Special_Blue_Ribbon_Digest_Vol_1_3

  5. I was 27 when I signed up. I'd like to think I've been a reasonably respectable member of the community
  6. Looks like SAGAH is back Nov 25th. I thought their breaks were usually much longer?
  7. The seller didn't actually clarify, and doesn't seem to have adjusted his listing at all. Another member jumped in and explicitly called out the second prints.
  8. I don't find those Showcase Powergirl's that hard to find myself. The Justice League on the other hand I think I have only found 1 in the past year and didn't want to pay what they were asking. Raw's of course. I agree that the Showcase books aren't hard to find raw. In grade though, they're scarce, and 98 especially.
  9. "1st Solo Power Girl Comic." is probably where the hype is coming from. I wonder if the other one that's been on Ebay for a month or so will get snapped up now. I actually bid on this copy because it's a better presenting example than the other one, but it just seems that early Power Girl is hot. All-Star 58 is not showing up very often in high grade and when it does people are setting new records it seems.
  10. Still need to find a nice copy of Showcase 97 but thankfully I got my All-Star Comics 58 before that book went batty. I think All-Star 59 is worth having, but unfortunately the next "key" is probably Huntress related instead of Power Girl.
  11. All Star Comics 58 is probably the single most important key followed by Showcase 97-99. I think her name was actually given in Showcase 98. I had never considered Infinity Inc 7, but it looks like it may have key related value. As for origin it depends on which origin you want to work off. Is she Atlantean? Power Girl has some weird history depending on what you read.
  12. There is no way to force partial refunds, and many people see them as a money grab. He was willing to do a full refund if all books were returned but that isn't an option because you sent one of the books in to be graded. I think it's a wash at this point
  13. Keep the top open when scanning slabbed books. Do a test scan to find out where the glare is heaviest (if any), then rescan pressing lightly on the back corresponding with those areas where glare is present on the front. Again, press lightly, ...slabs can take a moderate amount of pressure, but they will crack if you press too hard. Awesome thanks! I'll keep this in mind next time I fire the scanner up and see how it goes.
  14. I finally got my 8300 up and running but I have a single sketch in one of the thicker slabs (Idk why) and it seems to be considerably more glary than the regular sized slabs. Does anyone have any tweaking advice regarding this?
  15. So, I preordered this last May, have three payments due Feb, March and April... and it ships out in July or August?! If the statue isn't set to ship until July or August, why wouldn't the payments be due June, July and August? Sorry. Just needed to I've only been through the process once but they delayed my final payment until the statue was in hand and ready to ship. It was supposed to be last November and they didn't actually charge it until last month when the statue was ready to be shipped. The final payment includes the shipping charges so I imagine they'll delay it for you as well.
  16. My Poison Ivy has shipped First real statue!
  17. This is another reminder that I need to get all my slabs scanned!
  18. They keep pushing my delivery date back but it's nice to see these showing up!
  19. you had a bad cannoli This x10,000. Where on earth did you have a greasy cannoli??? It's ricotta cheese, chocolate chips, and sugar Greasy like still from the frying oil? Without question one of the best things about the holiday season is my grandmother making cannoli! Find a real place and try again!
  20. How would the nominated party be able to get off the PL if you had already sold the book to someone else willing to meet your outlandish payment terms? Insane payment requirements aside it sort of seems like you'd be forfeiting your ability to nominate someone to the PL by selling it after the fact.
  21. I purchased a book from Dan recently and found him very easy to deal with. It was packaged securely and shipped quickly. Thanks for the key
  22. Out of curiosity what are the rules regarding multiple people using a single account? Or business partners sharing an account?
  23. I've tried to follow along with the mess as best as possible and have reached the following resolution. I'm not sure how everyone would feel about it, but as Calvin once said "A good compromise leaves everyone mad." This doesn't seem like a PL worthy offense to me and I think having ocean on the list (for this) simply weakens the list. We've established that communication could have been MUCH better on both ends, the thread should have been closed if he really wasn't interested in selling, it was a low move by jawn to try and force a sale, etc, etc, etc. I do like the idea of using this as a chance to define some auto-thread timeout rules since many sellers just abandon their threads instead of posting them as closed. I think enough about the buyer and seller has been displayed here that many of us can reach our own conclusions about dealing with both/either of them going forward regardless of list status. I know that won't protect people who join the boards after the fact if ocean is removed from the PL. As the offended half jawn would need to approve this, but I don't see anything further to be gained by ocean remaining on the PL. What would need to be done for jawn to feel this was resolved? The book is already sold. An apology for the confusion might be nice but I don't see that happening given the attitudes displayed so far... A third list would be incredibly helpful in cases like this, but I don't think that is realistic. Every transaction here should be approached with at least a hint of caution even though as we all know Cool Books can make people do some funky things. However, I think the system works reasonably well in it's current form, and part of that is the incredibly simplicity of it. The more public time out lists we try to maintain the more issues like this we'll run into. The PL and HOS have reasonably clearly defined rules and regulations and for the most part the community does a reasonably good job maintaining them. There will always be the occasional cod-piece like solarcadet who just doesn't give a flying $#%@ but I've tried to be responsible with my transactions here and haven't run into any real issues as a result.
  24. I agree about the first half. It did seem a bit unlikely that just lacing a Sentinel with metal would have granted the level of control he displayed over them. It seemed like once that little computer started beeping indicating a mutant was around they basically went to it so perhaps the programing was very basic and he somehow overrode it. I didn't give that part too much thought and just sort of accepted it honestly. Regarding the second part though I don't think the bullet tracked her. I think he continued to steer it and just took his best guess as to her placement. He was going for a kill shot originally and only managed to hit her in the leg because he couldn't actually see her and was just shooting somewhat blindly at that point. That's how I saw it at least. I'm not sure if this was brought up previously in the thread but my main issue with the movie (before the ending and wiping out the previous movies) is how Mystique was in the original movies if she was captured and experimented on and killed to created the Sentinels that existed in the continuation of the original movie time line? I know they wiped all that out but it left a large hole I don't really understand.
  25. I never played ME1, however I played through ME2 before 3 came out. I enjoyed it but I honestly didn't come away with anything that really stuck with me. The games are made by Bioware so the dialogue is well done and there is a lot of it. There were some parts of 2 where I wish I had played 1 first but I wasn't really hampered or anything. The ship you get is cool, there are a ton of choices that affect things and relationships with NPCs, and a decent weapon selection. You also have the ability to load a saved character from a previous playthrough or from a previously completed game (ME2 save to start ME3) which was pretty neat too. It helped from an expirience standpoint and can make the first play through of the next game easier. However anyone that may have died in the earlier games won't be around etc. I probably liked ME3 more than 2 but you have to install Origin which I really didn't care for. If you find them for sale or ME2 cheap on Steam I'd get them for a play through, but I'm still waiting for Half-Life 3
