  2. Hi all Dunno if this is the right forum to post this in, but I know that he often frequents this one. Basically, does anyone know if Joeypost (the CFP comics cleaning/pressing guy) mentioned that he was going out of town, on holiday, or w/e? I urgently need him to send me an invoice, as I can't sort my finances out until I know how much his invoice is for, but he hasn't read my DM and in fact it seems that he hasn't even logged onto the forum since Wednesday. Any info appreciated.
  3. looks more than waviness imo, look at the back cover in the middle of the outer edge, there's at least a 2-3cm section that seems incredibly rough as if something artificial has been done there
  4. Not even gonna get a 9.0 This book definitely looks trimmed. It's very rough and uneven along a large part of the outer edge.
  5. I've seen a dust shadowed comic still get a 9.6 As for this, a press would do wonders for that wrinkle, but, both top corners look iffy and there's a lot of colour flaking along the bottom edge so you're probably looking at an 8.0
  6. Would be as funny as hell to see the results and read the grader's notes.
  7. How can you not notice immediately that the cover was a photocopy ? Even a laser printed cover would be as obvious as hell.
  8. Speaking from experience, even bearing in mind it was a SA comic (GA/SA bump)You'll probably get no more than 8.0
  9. Adventure Comics 305 is the key issue where Mon El finally leaves the Phantom Zone and joins the LSH. Graded 9.2 with OW pages by CGC only 4 9.4s have ever graded higher which means that unless a 9.6 or above is ever graded it's unlikely that you will see any of those 4 offered for sale. In fact, since only 2 other CGC 9.2s have ever been sold, as this issue is incredibly scarce in that grade as well, you might never see another CGC 9.2 of this key DC on sale again. Payment via paypal only $1750 (free USPS tracked postage). Action Comics 285, Supergirl revealed to the world. This is one of the very rare, very high grade copies of this key iconic issue that still has newsstand fresh white pages. Payment via paypal only. $750 plus $15 postage and handling via USPS tracked mail. Adventure Comics 324 featured the 1st appearance of the Heroes of Lallor. This is one of the very rare, very high grade copies that still has newsstand fresh white pages. Payment via paypal only $450 plus $15 postage and handling via USPS tracked mail. All comics will be posted the following day working day after payment is received. No returns as these are CGC graded.
  10. Are archival methods a matter of scientific fact - or just 'scientific fiction' to get people to part with money for something that they don't actually need ? I ask this purely because although I've been out of the comic collecting loop for 20 years, I know that even back when I was collecting that various bags, boards and methods etc were touted as the way to go to preserve comics. However, once bought, my Silver Age DC's were placed in standard bags (and I'm talking the standard bags that were around 20 years ago) with a standard board and then merely boxed in a standard box. For the last 20 years, I've lived in a subtropical climate, at sea level (so no rarified air) that regularly sees humid temperatures in the 40s C for weeks on end and my comics have been stored in the same standard bags and boards that I put them in 20 years ago, in boxes in a non temperature controlled environment that were merely covered with a curtain. And yet, the same comics that were bought with white pages back then still came back from CGC with white pages even now. In fact, I'd be willing to bet that none of the comics that came back from CGC (many of them white to off white) suffered from page degradation in any way as a result of being in my 20 year old standard bags with standard boards in standard boxes in my subtropical climate. Archival methods a scientific fallacy ? In my experience yes, when a standard bag, board and box in a non temperature controlled hot and humid environment still apparently kept comics in the same page quality as the day that I bought them.
  11. Incomplete, 2 missing pages which affect story, and getting a blue 5 is beyond words. Should be a 1.0 at best. I always thought that a 2nd grader always gets to look at a book, for QC purposes and for reasons of integrity. In general, 'qualified', for defective reasons as opposed to unwitnessed signatures, is hogwash imo, a defect is a defect, if a book has a popped staple, it's a popped staple regardless of what the rest of the book is like. I've never seen a 'qualified' label given to any water damage, no matter how small the damage is. It ALWAYS gets hammered down to a 6 at best. I had a Superboy 89 that was 8.5/9.0 (around a $1000 book) other than literally 2 water drops on the FC, came back as a blue 6.0 (around $200).
  12. Turnaround times Post 75 - 64 days Pre 75 - 134 days What justification takes an extra 70 days to grade? Pre 75 is more than double the time of post 75. A comic is a comic regardless of age, they are all graded according to the same standards (supposedly), GA/SA bump cough cough)). So what's with the increased time?
  13. Some of these are below the 2020 GPA where 2020 sales data is available. Action Comics 267 5.5 $110 Adventure Comics 267 5.0 $200 (2020 GPA $240) Adventure Comics 282 7.0 $275 (2020 GPA $300) Adventure Comics 304 8.5 $175 (2020 GPA N/A) Adventure Comics 362 9.2 $100 (2020 GPA $24 obviously an anomaly) Superboy 89 6.0 $150 (2020 GPA N/A) Superboy 93 8.0 $120 (2020 GPA unknown) 1st timed reply here or DM will win the item(s). Paypal only. Postage will be $15 tracked USPS mail per single item, $2.5 per additional item for 2 or more books. Items shipped within 3 days if winning bid is made @ weekend, o/w items will usually be shipped the next day.
  14. 2.0. Tops. That's as deliberate a slice as you will ever see. Unless that's a major key issue or w/e I can't imagine any collector wanting a book as unattractive looking as that. I'd take creases/stains and anything else over that any day as at least with creases/stains etc the book is still complete.
  15. Slowly starting to liquidate my entire collection. All comics via paypal only. 1st time stamped DM/or reply here wins. Comics will be dispatched within 24 hrs via tracked USPS. Since postage can easily be forgotten to be added I've included postage with all the prices First up, a CGC slabbed 4.0 Adventure Comics 247 with off white to white pages. $2465 with postage included Action Comics 285 CGC 8.5 with hard to find newsstand fresh white pages. $665 with postage included Adventure Comics 304 CGC 8.5. $190 with postage included Adventure Comics 282 CGC 7.0 $205 with postage included Superboy 93 CGC 8.0 $140 with postage included Superboy 89 CGC 6.0 $315 with postage included
  16. Grade is in. Congrats to all those who said a 4.0 This and others I recently had slabbed have been listed for sale in the sales thread.
  17. Only 3 higher copies are known to exist none of which have ever come up for sale. When a 9.2 becomes available it seems bids go crazy
