  1. Hi everyone, Due to crazy happening I've finally decided that I shall have to liquidate my complete original owner (90% bought off the newstand) collection and I am debating what books are worth sending to CGC, please let me know your thoughts guys, Ive been out of the game for a decade or so, so all feedback is greatly appreciated. I'll be putting up a selection of books that I feel may justify being sent, if I've got it wrong please let me know, I can't afford to mess this decision up!!! All grade advice and guidance is invaluable to me. Also In doing my research today I have discovered something called pressing (wasn't around in my collecting heyday) so if any books look like they may benefit from this please let me know. thanks in advance guys Rye. Here is the Fantastic Four #5, 1st appearance of Dr Doom, Uk price variant

  3. I'm firmly in the "extremely disappointed "side of the opinion (to say the least) as far as the TV show is concerned. With source material as strong as it is I cannot see the point of watering it down and going at it in a half arsed way. Then again I'm Irish so what the f&*^ do I know except that Cassidy is the best thing in it and they have well and truly ruined the character of Jesse, nothing like the guy in the comic book. And don't get me started on Tulip. You know, the blond girl, who's father taught her to shoot in the woods when she was what, 6 years old! (and who never shagged Cassidy (at least until she thought Jesse was dead and she was drugged out of her mind), and was never married, yeah, that girl who was totally committed to Jesse, WTF!) FFS. If your gonna do it, do it right (and I'm not intentionally quoting the George Michael song!)...... Rant officially over. And breathe.... Actually no, while i'm at it, why don't we turn the Black Panther into a skinny freckly faced, ginger, paddy boy , who wields a rather ferocious looking shillelagh when's had a dram too many... Gonna grab a nice Guiness now boys and enjoy some catholic guilt while i can, I'll be seeing ye's, unless the Pale Paddy Panther gets to me first...
  4. Well I just remembered that HA had their Summer auction underway and had a quick browse, the current SoK price made my jaw drop. Guess I've been out of the loop for a while... Great page though, if it was 5k lower I may have bid ?
  5. Woah !!! This guy has just begun sharing his INCREDIBLE collection of Preacher covers (and a hell of a lot more quality works besides) Always good to see a stellar collection suddenly appear from nowhere! Take a peek, it doesn't get any better for a Preacher fan : http://www.comicartfans.com/galleryroom.asp?gsub=106976 handful of early preacher covers http://www.comicartfans.com/galleryroom.asp?gsub=162841 TPB covers - All of them ! http://www.comicartfans.com/galleryroom.asp?gsub=162802 saint of killlers covers from the mini series My CAF page: http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryDetail.asp?GCat=13835
  6. Hi all, Just posted 3 consecutive Preacher pages, featuring the usual crazy dialogue from Garth Ennis, between Herr Starr and a mafioso hitman: http://www.comicartfans.com/galleryroom.asp?gsub=74469 And my first Louis Dominguez cover: http://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1130752 I hope you like what you see
  7. 1000 bucks + for what I'd consider a very average page (no offence intended ! ) seems a very solid price. What would a SoK page or John Wayne page achieve ?
  8. Gary Martin recently completed this great piece for us, the detail is amazing http://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1090907
  9. You're preaching to the converted The dialogue is the main thing for me and these always crack me up and don't feature any of the central characters! http://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=731445 http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=622403 http://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=622408
  10. Thanks Pete, The image blew me away when I received it in an email, when the real thing arrives I think I'm going to be totally floored
  11. I should be receiving this piece from Gary Martin soon : http://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1090907 my jaw dropped when I saw the finished image
  12. Great thread for a nostalgia-fest ! This was my first OA, purchased back in 1996. I used to buy Silver Age keys from a guy in London and popped in to see him and found this standing on his living room table, it didn't stay on his table for long ! As it transpired, this is the first ever comic book painting John Watson did. I was fortunate to pick up a few more pieces which can be found on my CAF: http://www.comicartfans.com/gallerydetail.asp?gcat=13835
  13. I just received the finished images of these two Bolland recreations from the Jedi Master of inking - Gary Martin. 11x17 16x26 - Huge!! My Caf: http://www.comicartfans.com/gallerydetail.asp?gcat=13835
  14. No that's fine - I appreciate the assistance. I have a trying relationship with technology (to say the least!!!!) Hooray, I managed to post the image (after a LOT of f****** about) !!!
  15. Hello All, I'm a long time lurker on these forums but a newbie when it comes to making posts. Recently picked up this Amazing Spiderman 258 cover recreation by the original penciller (Ron Frenz) and inker (Joe Rubinstein). Not sure how to post a pic, been trying but have gone round in circles, so if your interested have a look here: http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=929288&GSub=134683
  16. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder - I think that sums up why one collector prefers one artist over another. If you want to invest then you have the usual suspects to choose from, if you want to buy because you like a particular piece of art (for a multitude of reasons) then you've qualified as an appreciator of the artistic form (and you'll probably be creaking open pandora's box and spending most of you're waking hours searching for a new fix!) As Clint Eastwood once said, " opinions are like arseholes, everyone's got one ..." whatever you do, just make sure you enjoy it
