  1. Here is a funny one... I had three packages arrive at CGC on August 23rd, 2021. When I went to verify in their tracking tracker, nothing showed up. I called CGC customer service on it, but long story short, they basically said they were "missed" in scanning or there was a malfunction but basically told me they get a lot of submissions, they won't go look for them and not to worry about it they will turn up. I said fine and decided to wait and see. I figured they were only opening packages received the week of August 16, that I still had time before something showed up in my submissions. Last night, I see I get a CGC invoice email. Curious, I go to check on my submissions...This is what I get... Economy (7 books) - Received 9/28/21 - Scheduled for Grading Modern (14 books) - Received 9/28/21 - Grading/Quality Control Meanwhile, my other package/invoice of 25 books is not yet in the system or viewable under the My Submissions tab. I am "happy" to be getting some books back way sooner than expected, but man, something is messed up. I just want those 25 books to turn up in the system now so I can "rest easy".
  2. Thanks! Yes, when they get back in about 1000 years! Good Question! I use my IG mostly for "promotion" but to be fair, I don't use it "as a business" and I am not super knowledgeable about it. I have mostly had tire kickers though. Don't get me wrong, I am sure there are those who use it very well, just not for me, not at this time. I also don't have a ton of followers there either. The one issue I can see with it is that it is "out of sight, out of mind", like if you don't get hits or bites shortly after posting, people are on to the next thing, whereas eBay you can post stuff and it can sit for MONTHS and then get a bite or a sale on something. But, it is just not a platform I have truly invested a lot of time in for selling purposes, unlike my eBay page. But of course, there are some VERY successful IG sellers for sure. Facebook is ok, but I do better posting books through my own Facebook Page (www.facecbook.com/morefuncomics.ca) where I have locals who frequently contact me through there as well as random Facebook peeps. I have dabbled in Facebook sales on some of the specific comic sites and had some success but still prefer eBay as a selling platform. I should also try more with the CGC boards here as well...I did in the past but I have kind of gotten away from having even the few modest sales threads that I rarely did. Maybe time to try again? I encourage you to read a post that @thehumantorch has up about his selling experience with My Comic Shop. After long considering it and reading that post, consigning and/or selling with My Comic Shop is definitely an option that I am going to take a deeper look into.
  3. Finally, I was invited to participate at a local show in late September that I have done in the past but with my current family situation (busy toddler) and work...I can't do it and that is not even factoring Covid into the decision. Even though in my part of Ontario Covid numbers are low and relatively stable, I wouldn't be comfortable mingling with larger crowds right now....Realistically, I can't see me doing a show until late summer/early fall 2022 at the earliest and I will be "online only" for awhile.
  4. FINALLY got around to beefing up my ebay store this past weekend and posting some of my last CGC subs up and some did not last long at all. Notable sales (so far) Spawn 1 Newsstand CGC 9.8, Daredevil Vol.2 #9 CGC 9.8, Hulk 1 CGC 9.8, Infinite Crisis #5 CGC 9.8 and raw Spawn #230 and Vengeance of Bane #1. My goal is to minimally always have 100 items in my store but ideally I'd like to get to 200-250 and maintain that with the occasional small auction. Of course, I would like more but trying to be realistic with family and regular work responsibilities. Also, I have managed to pick up some hot and/or fun speculation books that the price was too fair to ignore. Several will be added to next CGC sub. Samples:
  5. I finally received my CGC sub that I sent back in April 2021 (well, the Standard sub came back in June and the Modern just a week or so ago). Overall, I am pleased and ecstatic with a few. Everything is for sale except the ASM Annual #16 as that is going in my PC and one of the newsstand Spawn #1's. Sidebar: I miss not being in the office where I had access to a large scanner, so until then, pics will have to do or I may have to have a look at the slab scanner thread
  6. I finally received my CGC sub that I sent back in April 2021 (3 Standard, 26 Modern "Fast Track". The Standard sub came back in June and the Modern just a week or so ago). This was the largest single CGC sub I have made and it involved several of my recent purchases that I have previously posted in my journal. Needless to say, I am pleased overall and ecstatic with a handful of them. I am currently prepping another large submission (well, large for me). I won't be bothering to fast track the moderns. When I initially submitted, the stated TAT for MFT was like 28 working days, so I do feel like I got shafted a bit by CGC there, but hey, books are here and safe and l am generally pleased so I am not about to shout at the wall. Everything will be for sale except the ASM Annual #16 as that is going in my PC and one of the newsstand Spawn #1's. Maybe one or two others, but that's it. Sidebar: I miss not being in the office where I have access to a large scanner, so until then, pics will have to do or I may have to have a look at the slab scanner thread. Pics below. Enjoy and thanks for following/reading!
  7. As a Canadian, I opted to receive funds in USD to my USD checking account as I do most of my buying in USD and I am too lazy to want to bother with conversion. I had to resend my banking information several times to them and even provide my drivers license. Crazy. I am on vacation right now so I have not sold a lot since I was under the new system, but two of my transactions came in no problem whereas the first one under the new system took awhile to show up and I had to log a ticket. Shortly after the ticket, payment was received. I still prefer the "old system" but the one good thing is those USD funds are going straight to my USD account with no 'conversion' fees. I will maintain my presence on eBay, but I may start exploring other selling options more seriously as well due to various concerns and issues with eBay in general that we all know about.
  8. I really like the "foreshadowing" or "teaser" descriptor, while I do not consider these an appearance per se, the are significant and do merit consideration, hence the teaser descriptor someone suggested. So, using Venom as example, how about this as some sort of "classification" system? Venom Example: Venom 1st foreshadowing/teaser appearance - Web of Spider-Man #18 (small visual, may be body part or mostly obscured, no or little dialogue by character and no significant reveal) Venom 2nd foreshadowing/teaser appearance - Web of Spider-Man #24 (small visual, may be body part or mostly obscured, no or little dialogue by character and no significant reveal ) Venom Cameo - Amazing Spider-Man #298 (character partially obscured/not fully seen, brief appearance, some dialogue and may or may not interact with primary character) First Venom Appearance - Amazing Spider-Man #299 (full unobstructed view of character and some interaction and/or dialogue, may interact with primary character or supporting character) First Full Venom Appearance - Amazing Spider-Man #300 (character plays pivotal role throughout majority of book/story, some backstory/motivation or origin may be revealed) Anyway, this is all just "fun" and will be one of those endless things us comic folk debate. I have liked seeing and hearing other peoples takes on all of this stuff. And with regards to Venom, its all good to me, I have all of these
  9. Wasn't the Web panel just a single hand and he's unnamed????? #298 is actually just shows Brock completely obscured...And again, his hands, but the symbiote forming around them... But ok, sure, if you want to consider hands and fully obscured figure a first appearance, that's cool.
  10. This is a "classic" debate and I'll use ASM 25 as example of cameo vs first appearance. ASM 25 - Mary Jane's first appearance IS a cameo as her face is obstructed by a flower and only has a few lines. ASM 42 - Last panel but big entrance with her classic line. That's a first appearance (to me). But CGC says her face revealed in cameo for first time and not until ASM 43 we get the first full MJ designation. But does anyone care about 43 all the much? Avengers 195 - I consider the first Taskmaster. He has a nearly full page spread and interacting with other characters. Nothing is obscured. First appearance. Incredible Hulk 180 - You see Wolverine in full costume, interacting with the other characters. nothing is obscured. First appearance. I actually think ASM 299 is worse though than the IH 180/181 debate as you have the second last page of Venom "in shadow", which if it ended there I would consider a cameo but he is still interacting with characters and the last page is a full page reveal of Venom. Two pages. The last if full page spread. That's first Venom. ...Now if someone can tell me why people pay more for SMPJO 134 as Darkseid first cameo where he is essentially a talking turd on a screen in a tiny panel as opposed to later more fullsome cameo/appearance or why CGC labels this one 1st appearance of Darkseid in cameo on last page I'd love to know the logic on that one 😂 To me, if you have an unobstucted/nearly full view of the character, there is nothing "hidden" (like say in shadows) and they are having dialogue/interactions with other characters that should be the benchmark or something similar as to the difference between cameo and a first appearance.
  11. When I subbed it was like under a 30 Day turnaround for Modern Fast Track. These books were not marked as Received until May 1, 2021, even though they sat in the warehouse for just under a month. With current FT turnaround at 85 Days and Regular at 101 Days, had I known, I would have not paid for Fast Track. Certainly with the current difference in turnaround time, FT is NOT worth the extra cost IMHO. What are chances CGC offers discount or a break to those who subbed when their stated turn around times for FT were FAR, FAR less? I kid. I know CGC is not offering anyone who paid for FT 4 months ago a break because of "they got busy". But keep those exclusive signings coming!
  12. Hello again, Interested in opinions on this copy for Batman #423. A few light spine ticks but not much else wrong with the book that I can see. Thanks!
  13. Apologies for the multiple posts...No idea what glitch went on there...
  14. All opinions appreciated. Mostly interested to see how people feel the 'white spots'/colour loss(?) by the spine would impact grade. Could these be a printing defect? Thanks in advance for feedback!

  18. Hello, Looking for opinions on my raw under copy of Marvel Spotlight #32 - First Spider-Woman. Thanks!
  19. Successful auctions had me itching to buy something and get on with the ASM collecting goal. I picked up this sweet book for the run and didn't kill my budget for the "big two". Now need 20 books to complete the run. Thanks to @AlphaOmega for the great book, stellar packaging and fast shipping.
