  1. Enough to know a grade such as VF- exists, yet...
  2. Who is more surprised on this copy of Young Love #49 ? The seller for the auction ending that high, or the buyer when receiving the comic and it's not 7.5 - 8.5 as advertised?
  3. All three! (CCS fees, CGC fees, plus FMV). But it took 8 months of back and forth and non-stop "we'll have our verification team look into it and get back to you"... heard that line about 5-6x in the same thread. They tried to give me the FMV of the books they swapped in for mine that I sent back to them (and not my original FMV I put on the form). Even that was an annoyance.. it really does take persistence and good records to ensure if things go sideways, you have the ammo to get what is promised. Now, I take photos of EVERY BOOK (many boardie's have suggested it, and it's true... do it...), even my run-of-the-mill moderns with lower FMVs. Sure it adds a few minutes of my time, but it saves hours later on if issues crop-up. On one of my other book swaps from an unrelated submission to this one I had no photo proof (one of my earlier subs just before the big pile up of 2021-22 when things switched overnight to 10+month TATs), so they said "sorry, can't do anything about it..." so I was out my $25 raw FMV plus CCS/CGC fees... so if anything, with my moderns I submit it's not even so much about "protecting" the $10-20 raw book now, but about trying to recoup the CCS/CGC costs if/when there are mistakes. .. live and learn... So you were given credit, not actual money, for the FMV of books they lost? I'm hoping these were new, off-the-shelf moderns, or you were given a choice, as being out $1000 of books and receiving $1000 of credit is not the same.
  4. To clarify, did CGC give you credits for the grading of the lost books, or credits for the cost (FMV) of the lost books?
  5. It's not "wastage" if the customer doesn't notice credits are not applied and CGC gets real money instead.
  6. I would say perhaps a little more overall at Fan Expo (based on last year)? Some only do C2E2, others only do Fan Expo, then some overlap.
  7. A lesson that beats me over the head every time I look back on my boxes of unsold books is to sell immediately when any type of news hits.
  8. Thank you. I am by no means a high volume or high dollar seller -- probably a few items a month -- so unsure what their "factors" are (and I'm sure they'll never tell). For the OP @D2, for high-dollar items if experiencing eBay 30-days holds regularly, use MyComicShop. On raws they may grade differently (i.e. lower) than you, but it is usually worth it for the hassle-free experience.
  9. The buyer can change their mind within 30 days. Never know. Correct, they can, it's called a return and there is a pretty standard flow and operation for returns. eBay, as far as my account is concerned, does not hold my payments for 30 days in case there is a return.
  10. Yes. That’s exactly correct. I sold an item for $1,500 USD, at which point eBay paid themselves 13% of the sale. So the buyer paid, eBay took their fee, and the remainder of the total, now sits in hold for 30 days after payment of the buyer. In the past, to avoid the hold, I’d have to send with tracking (which I always did) but now with signature confirmation (which I would do for anything over 1,000), and eBay added a stipulation that, if positive feedback was also received, then they could approve a ‘next day’ fund transfer. But due to the ‘high priced’ value of this item (I have sold items for higher values before, even in the same annual quarter), they have decided to hold the payment, regardless, for 30 full days. I suspect eBay is holding funds under the shadow of their 30 day eBay guarantee for buyers to open a dispute, even after giving positive feedback, they can’t justify sending me the buyer’s funds. Even though, I’ve had my eBay account for 8 years, my score is 434, with zero negative feedback, ever. I’m also not a high volume seller. I sell maybe $10k-$20k a year. I probably buy maybe $10k a year Yeah, I'm not sure what's going on here as this is not how my eBay funds are handled. Example: I sold an item on eBay for $2200; buyer paid July 27th, eBay sent my Net funds to my bank account July 29th, and the item was delivered on July 31st. This has been my experience since eBay changed to handling the payments themselves; I routinely receive my funds before the item has been delivered (let alone received any feedback). I know there are various settings to determine how often you are paid (I believe mine is daily), but holding for 30 days does not make sense. From the above it appears you have had this situation happen before, so it seems something is up with your account. Did they send you a message in this particular case identifying the reason for the hold?
  11. I'm not following; you sold an item for $1500, shipped, delivered, received positive feedback from the buyer, but eBay is keeping your $1500 (minus fees) for 30 days?
  12. Did he/she ask for a partial refund due to the case?
  13. I'm not disputing the destroying of extras -- as I think that was done by CGC at the time of grading -- I'm questioning the "final" number of Virgin variants in the mystery boxes. i.e. He sends 2k to CGC to grade 20 and destroy the rest. He keeps 1; now there are 19 up for grabs in the mystery boxes, not 20 as promised. (Or did he tell CGC to grade 21?)
  14. I'm a little skeptical of those numbers. I believe there may have been some "upgraded" books that were not removed from the census. Expand Of course, but that's possible on every title/book in the census. Similar to the unknown number of books which were never graded. Census is not the whole picture, just one point that can be compared. I know of at least 2 CL #25's which are not graded (yet). And that's just in my very small circle.

  16. If I remember correctly there were actually two copies and he kept one for himself and lied about their only being one copy. I don’t mess with store variants because they lie so much about how many copies are available and some even claim to destroy the bulk of the copies to make it limited. I haven't followed this story that closely -- and probably don't want to -- but if Bry was pimping these mystery boxes as having 20 virgin copies (the rest being destroyed) and then kept 1 for himself.... isn't that misleading right off the bat? Either the mystery boxes then only have 19 virgin copies for buyers to get, or there are 21 total copies out there.
