When You See a Piece For Sale From Someone You Won't Buy From...
MIL0S replied to Dr. Balls's topic in Original Comic Art
I know why people avoid the brothers but what's the beef with the guy from Boston? -
I picked this piece up and was wondering if anyone has any idea of what Phoenix's hand gestures represent?

Last pieces of the year, just received these pinups from Dan Brereton, a 'Thrillkiller' Batgirl and Frank Thorne's Lann:

Oddball Bob Kane Batman piece...thoughts?
MIL0S replied to Chip Cataldo's topic in Original Comic Art
thoughts? wouldn't touch a 'Bob Kane' sketch with a ten foot pole, one of the most faked artists out there. check out this thread for discussion on similar pieces: -
I am selling some art on behalf of artist Tim Vigil at 25% off normal price this week. Art includes a couple of published pages, some original sketch cover comics and a few color illustrations and can be found here: https://www.comicartfans.com/galleryroom.asp?gsub=235258

Friends don't let friends drink and con
MIL0S replied to MOStateSuperman's topic in Original Comic Art
good chance the actors had no idea they were signing original artwork. -
unfortunately there is no place for one stop shopping for art/guides. in over 20 years of collecting I think I may have seen a page with color guide pop up for sale once or twice. I happened to acquire color guides to several pages that I own but it really comes down to dumb luck and it took me many years to do it. I bought some John Romita Jr. pages from Spencer Beck years ago and then some of the corresponding color guides appeared on Heritage 20 years later... so don't hold your breath, lol... One dealer that reps a few color artists and sells color guides (and where I was able to buy a couple of other guides to reunite with the published pages I already owned) is Scott Kress at catskillcomics.com.

another undated 'Kane' on Heritage this week... https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/sketches/bob-kane-batman-sketch-original-art-undated-/a/322334-49125.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 -
https://www.cnn.com/style/article/bored-apes-sothebys-lawsuit/index.html thoughts? I find the whole concept of NFT's ridiculous and have less than zero sympathy for anyone involved.

will this 'glitch' affect anyone's decisions to sell or buy on ComicLink going forward?
-
thanks for the info Twanj, and no not looking for offers but thanks for the snark KirbyCollector.

yup, I was also there Friday and it was a typical con, anything reasonable goes (and even unreasonable - I saw a couple of comic-book-store type guys carting around stacks of comic boxes to better assault creators with hundreds of books to sign...). They just need to proofread/edit what ends up on the tickets.
-
I'm going to Terrificon at Mohegan Sun for the first time and just noticed that on the bottom of the ticket it says "Bags NOT Permitted" which seems ridiculous for a comic show. can anyone that has attended this show in the past tell me if this is an actual policy that is enforced? I was planning on bringing a standard size shoulder/messenger bag that I always use at cons.

current Heritage weekly has a Bob Kane Batman sketch: https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/sketches/bob-kane-batman-and-robin-sketch-original-art-undated-/a/322331-46110.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 -
I love prelims and have a bunch in my collection from a variety of artists, they're typically dynamic and capture the creative spark and all for a fraction of the cost of the final piece so you get a lot of bang for your buck. Here's a Tim Sale sketchbook cover: An Aaron Lopresti Wonder Woman cover (vol 3 #23): A Jim Davis Garfield prelim: And a John Buscema Conan illustration that was an alternative layout for a European convention program cover:
-
I love John Buscema's work but his prelims tend to be on the looser end of the spectrum compared to some other artists. I was surprised this cover prelim just sold on Comiclink for nearly $2k, thoughts?
-
I’m a big fan of John Buscema’s work and he typically did full size prelims for pages that he pencilled and I’ve been able to reunite several pages with the corresponding prelim. So satisfying when you’re able to do that… this was the first page of art I ever purchased (for five bucks!), and came across the prelim ten years later: Another page where the prelim cost me more than the inked page: and probably my favorite Buscema piece:
-
I’ve got one more Jim Lawson turtle page that I’m trying to identify. Anyone know where this one was published?
-
Does anyone know if this Ron Adrian pinup of what I believe is Luxura from Vamperotika was ever published?
-
Thanks for the info, I sent a message and received a reply but unfortunately he doesn’t recall if/where it was published.
