  1. So, it may not be $150 minimum? If I was going to submit a $1,000 book through Standard for $65, but instead submitted the same book at a show, how much would it be?
  2. I've never submitted to CGC either. How much is onsite grading? Is it the "walkthrough" service you are buying? So, 3% of value with $150 min?
  3. If I recall, Shadroch, you lied about your dog being a comfort dog to get a break on rent. Damn capitalist want to stick their grubby fingers everywhere.
  4. Our town hosts Second Saturday events every month. This month's theme is Super Hero Saturday. One of the events will be a super hero themed escape room in a 1920s bank building. There will be a live super hero behind bars. Game players will have 15 minutes to unlock three puzzles and save the super hero. I saw the room last night and it looks pretty cool. Salem is ~35 minutes from Youngstown and Canton and ~90 minutes from Cleveland and Pittsburgh. Watch Tower Comics from Columbiana, OH will be doing some promotion at the local coffee house. Come by and check it out. Any shop owners or potential shop owners, let me know that you might be coming to town. Cosplay is welcome and encouraged. The event is: Saturday Sept 14th 542 E State St Salem, OH 44460 Games start every 20 minutes - sign up at the building 10:00 am - 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm - 9:00 pm Sign up begin at 9:30 am
  5. Always meant to pick up a Pop Hollinger you know how to decipher the ink code?
  6. Stalin, hammer & sickle, The Beaver Strikes all in one cover...
  7. Sold some more books and added more. I'll continue to add throughout the day. I just added some reading sets from the 1980s - Twisted Tales, Rip in Time, Mr Monster, Boris the Bear - plus a few other items.
  8. I made a couple sales. I just added more to my booth. I'll add more later as well.
  9. It has been a while since I have participated in a VCC, but I would like to set up a booth this weekend. Is there any significance to the North, South, East, West halls? Are they organized by what sellers are selling? Or, do I just randomly choose a hall?
  10. I thought the first crossover was Pep #4/Top Notch #5 with The Shield and The Wizard. Both of those were May 1940 while MM #8 was June 1940. The Pep/Top Notch story ran through multiple issues and features of both titles.
  11. Thank you. I am only partially ashamed to say that I was not aware that was a comic character...
  12. I would be willing to bet that photo on the left was taken prior to 1923. If so, it is a public domain photo and has no bearing on what has been talked about in this thread.
  13. I was bidding on a Heritage lot. I think it was for a group of silver age books. There were 2-3 lots from the same title in the auction. I got caught up bidding for what I thought was the lot I wanted. I ran that auction up, but finished the #2 bidder. I was then surprised to see the lot I wanted pop up next. I auctually won that lot for less than the one I almost one went for. I made the consigner a couple extra dollars that day. I have accidentally bid either too much or on the wrong auction on eBay as an item was ending. I just paid those and move on. I did have an experience in reverse at comiclink. A few years ago, I was bidding on one of two Iron Fist 14 CGC 9.8s that were in the same auction. One was clearly better centered and just looked better than the other. I won the better of the two along with several other books in that auction. When I received my package, I remember being disappointed in my Iron Fist 14. I set it aside. It dawned on me a couple weeks later that I may have bid on the wrong one. Looking back to the comiclink auction, I check what I won and the book did not match the scan. I check the CGC serial number and find I won the 9.8 I wanted to win, but I was sent the other 9.8 in the auction. I contacted Comiclink and was told they would look into it. Time passed and they never got back to me. I had an opportunity to sell the book for basically my cost (maybe I made a couple bucks) and I took it. I check my books more closely now as I receive them.
