A Mail Call for the Ages! Last month (in the ComicConnect auction) we saw the liquidation of one of the great EC Collections out there, as part of the "PACole" collection (as some of you surely know, his ECs represented only one of his many uber-impressive collecting strands) . @Pacole (aka Phil, who happens to be a boardie) and I go back a ways as collecting buddies - when he was building his collection back in the day, he bought a bunch of my EC undercopies behind the scenes (and he helped me out with a few books here and there, as well). He was also able to amass a bunch of pre-trend books that I have been coveting for years. He messaged me not too long ago to let me know that he was finally "ripping the band-aid off" and auctioning his entire collection (not just his ECs...everything!)...but that message came after the books were already in the hands of ComicConnect . I understand... As for the auction...Phil was auctioning so many books, I had to pick my battles going in. Gunfighter was the main battle I decided to pick, and it worked out OK. Phil, we'll miss you. Enjoy life, my friend. I feel privileged that I could drag a few more of your books into my collection on your way out...here's the haul (arrived today):

I've never seen one...but to be fair, I've never looked for one

March Comes in Like a Lion! Up above, I discussed how at the beginning of 2024 I was missing 6 EC Publications from my collection. Earlier this month, Flip came through with the K.O. Punch, bringing the "missing" list down to 5 books. Two days ago, another collector extraordinaire sent one of the other missing books my way - Reddy Kilowatt 3C...now the missing list is down to 4. Here's a quote from Bill where he talks about it: "For example, are you acquainted with the Reddy Kilowatt character? Well, we made comic books for them. 1946 was the first one, that's before I got here. And this I call "1A". It's the first comic book we produced for Reddy Made Magic. It's a sixteen-pager. And then they put a new page one on it—in fact, it's just a new three-quarters of a page—and I call that "1B". Then they put out an Edison book, changing the splash for "2B", changing the splash again for "2C". Last year we put out an eight-pager called The Space Kite, in two versions: one for Southern California and one for everybody else. We just have completed a "3C" version with a whole new front and back page." — Bill Gaines, October 10th, 1956 source: Tales of Terror! The EC Companion, First Softcover Edition, 2000, pp275-276 Here she is: In total, EC published 11 different Reddy Kilowatt giveaways. I now have 10 of them...missing only 3B (1956 Space Kite So. Cal. Edition):
