Can you get your hands on some of these cases of books? Sure want me to make a u-tube video ? come on there are TONS of Novas , shazams, spider-woman, ms marvels all the 1977 books where hoarded like the nineties. The guys that have them are for sure breaking them open and slowly processing them into the system. I bet a couple of them are throwing out shill bids with BS eBay accounts to get the price up.

I am staying out of this mess show. (kinda).. BUT there is that $1500.00 9.8 board sale mentioned earlier that is definitely legit ! Yes the raised price point could be a FAKE price point but in this market that is all it takes. As for Jdog love him or hate him, most of the books he has pointed out have taken a NOSE DIVE, once real sales started coming in ! Star wars #1 was maybe a little undervalued, there are still unopened cases of this book out there so we will see if it holds these prices for the long term. If these prices are sustainable I am a seller into this price point.

I think you are on track ! Well then, all of these points are being made for people that don't read the books ! Even on-line sites list the annual as the first appearance.Gambit Info Also if the x-men #266 is in continuity ahead of the X-men annual #14 It would be a situation Like Batman Adventures #12 and Batmen:Harley Quinn NN The labels should be similar to them ! X-men Annual #14 : 1st appearance of Gambit in comics (future continuity) X-men #266 : 1st appearance of Gambit in Marvel continuity
-
Not W pages . #1 9.8 listed for $1600.00
-
This Info is not NEW ! most have known gambit was on multiple pages in the annual ! Buy both if your a fan. This info was not just broke in this thread there have been countless conversations for years. I guess the info will be better for CGC label chasers .. RMA or someone will chime in but I think the annual has a moderate 200,000 plus print run. Like x-men #94 that has held up BECAUSE it was the first appearances in the X-men run, the same will be true for X-men #266 . Too most Gambit fans it will always be a key Gambit book !

I agree with the cap on grading for trimmed books ! they should never be NM+ purple Label or not. That's just off by both companies. As for this clown crook, the books he sells as unrestored, he is probably just popping out of lower grade slabs and upping the grade. I really can't believe all the sales and bids he has? Who is purchasing these books ?
-
There is absolutely no way that x-men #1 should be a 9.4 what a joke ... Good info from this thread and so upsetting... How can this guy get away with this BS

One shot will climb. It's a top Harley book to have. Great cover.

Don't worry, you have the one that actually matters. -J. No J they both matter.

Copper's Heating/Selling Well on Ebay

Correct ! this is from mile high web site: So early direct market books should be valued way higher than newsstand ! if your into that ! Year % Newsstand %Direct Market 1979 94% 6% 1982 80% 20% 1986 50% 50% 1990 15% 85% 1995 10% 90% 2000 5% 95% 2005 2% 98% 2013 1% 99% Take these numbers with CONSIDERABLE grains of salt! Why would those numbers be skewed? Do you have evidence that they are? Yes. I took these numbers with honey mustard. I used to take them with kosher salt, because it was easier to skewer them on cast iron grill. Lets have the facts RMA , I really would like to know, As stated those where from Mile high. Whats the actual percentages? Let's consider Chuck's 1990 figures: 85% Direct Market, 15% newsstand. But when we look at the print run figures from a typical book...let's say, Iron Man....we find a different picture...from Iron Man #266, the SOO for 1990: Avg. copies printed: 327,728 Avg. copies sold: 198,100 Avg. copies returned: 128,878 Now, sold copies includes all venues, Direct and newsstand. And they don't distinguish which is which. The only absolute numbers we know are 327k for total run, and 128k, which we know are ALL newsstands. So, if 85% of the entire market in 1990 was Direct, that means, of the 198k sold, 168k...85%...were direct, and 29k...15%...were newsstand, according to Chuck's numbers. But wait...the total number of newsstand returns was 128k. That means, they printed 157,000 newsstand copies, and of those, 128,000 were unsold?? That's a sell-through rate on the newsstand of only 18%! Things were getting rough for the newsstand, but they weren't THAT rough. An 18% sell-through for a mainstream Marvel title in 1990 would have been absolutely unheard of. They were much closer to 30-50% sell-throughs (remember, of the NEWSSTAND copies printed) at that time. There are similar numbers across the board. It's not workable for 1990, and not really even for 1995. 1986, I can buy a 50/50 split, but even 1982 is questionable. (thumbs u Thanks. I assume that alot of those "destroyed" copies did not really get destroyed. -

paul747 replied to thirdgreenham's topic in Modern Age Comic Books
Their are stores that had cases of this book. It has to be higher than 3000 copies. Maybe I am wrong but 3000 seems low. In my area they did not destroy them . -

Because of the return of the grey Hulk? I don't get it... +1 Unless there is something in the book I am missing like a 1st Appearance or something this is really Not anything to chase... Jeez just grab a modern reprint of hulk #1 Synopsis for "The More Things Change"Edit SHIELD has made a new genetic bath to cure Bruce Banner by making him control the Hulk. But something goes wrong, when Rick Jones notices that General Ross is fooling with the tank. At the same time Hulk is thrown in the bath. Rick and Ross fight, but the battle ends with Rick thrown into the bath too. Suddenly the tank breaks, and the new Hulk is born. He is Gray again after all these years. REALLY ! That's it and this is a chase book? someone tell me its more than Hulk being grey again ! Isn't the Grey Hulk from #1 actually a retcon which took place after #324 though? . I dont know how Hulk #1 can possibly be a retcon? He was grey in the '62 #1 issue because of a printing ink problem. In #2 he is green, he was never intended to be grey. #324 is the first true grey hulk. :roflmao:Ok ! i better get one ! Printing or not first grey hulk IS #1 true dat ! We wont even get into the true cover knock off. He is Gray again after all these years. -

WTF? Wow, that book exploded. What's the deal? Just because of the stupid Hot Topic figure recall? Peace, Chip I honestly would feel that Hulk 377 would be the one to explode, have a feeling we may see this version sooner than we think. Why is #324 heating up? because of the grey hulk (savage) appearance? Whats Hulk #1 then if people are saying #324 is first "grey hulk" 1ST MODERN GREY HULK .....
