  1. That actually crossed my mind, but I figured I would probably end up with a colored label that I don't want. Just for the record, I have made a final decision about what to do with them. I really don't want any PGX in my collection, and I really don't care about raw books once I have read them, and since CGC can't do anything with them, I will list them on eBay and pass them on to someone who doesn't mind PGX or raw. It's just really sad that CGC isn't able to figure out a way to case these, because many of them have really beautiful cover art.
  2. Wow. This is fun. People collect comics for many reasons, and one reason is not better nor worse than another. I did collect comics as a youth, primarily to read and then set aside. I now collect comics because of the art and investment value - and I really don't see what other value a slabbed book could possibly have, other than for the cover art and investment, considering that they can never be opened. A slabbed book is worth significantly more than a raw book - simply because people are willing to pay more for a proven high grade. Therefore, a raw book has no value to me because I collect for investment - though I do see the covers alone as being a piece of fine art - and a raw book unprotected by the case will always receive some damage over time, reducing its value instead of raising in value. As far as PGX versus CGC, I greatly prefer CGC, and currently have no PGXs in my collection - which is about to change. As far as monetary worth of PGX verses CGC - based on what people are willing to pay on eBay - the same PGX book does tend to sell for slightly less than the same CGC book, but only slightly. I hate that I will have to resort to PGX, but when a simple number on top of a locked case raises the value of a book (whether that number is provided by CGC or PGX) I will continue to collect only slabbed books.
  3. Yeah. I won't buy a PGX either - but I also won't add a book to my collection unless it's graded. Any book that isn't graded might as well be thrown in the trash as far as I'm concerned. I guess I'm a comic snob. But the Jay Company books have beautiful covers, so I want them in my collection. Thank you all for your input, but I will unfortunately have to resort to PGX in order to complete my collection of graded books. The PGX graded Jay Company copies on eBay appear to fit very nicely into their encapsulated cases, so I will choose to take the chance of any damage. Once again, thank you all for your feedback.
  4. Thanks. This response was helpful. I had noticed what you are talking about on these books. I knew there must be an explanation - and I was hoping it was a good one. I guess PGX it will be. Very disappointing.
  5. Why does CGC refuse to grade Grimm Fairy Tales Jay Company exclusives? I really don't want to resort to PGX. Is there any chance that this will change any time soon? Is there any place that I can find a listing of books that CGC will not grade before I again take the time and money to submit them?
  6. Perhaps I did not make myself clear - or maybe you just don't believe me. It is a fact that they will not grade Grimm Fairy Tales Jay Company exclusives. PGX will, but CGC will not! Just recently I sent 15 books to CGC. 14 were graded 9.8. They did, however, refuse to grade my Grimm Fairy Tales 49 Jay Company Arizona Con. And when I mention the registry, it has nothing to do with books that have been graded. When it comes to registering a collection, Jay company books are not even recognized as existing by CGC. For anyone who doesn't believe me, check it out for yourself. Grimm Fairy Tales 2 has two Jay Company exclusives, one Gothic limited to 100 and one gold limited to 200. CGC will not even give us the option of registering these books - because they refuse to grade them. I would like to know why.
  7. Can anyone tell me why CGC does not grade Grimm Fairy Tales Jay Company exclusive books? I also have a Grimm Wonderland #2 Blue Gryphon exclusive limited to 75 copies that I want CGC to grade, but it does not appear anywhere in their registries. Why do they ignore certain books and refuse to grade them?
