  1. No, you are making incorrect assumptions while you are "extrapolating". You missed the part where most of the decisions are referred to a PAID Admin who works for CGC through the software company. They might be physically outside CGC, but they are certainly not volunteers. He/She works for the same company as Arch and Scott. You'd have to ask CGC how they pay them. I don't know why a statement was made on facebook saying all decisions were volunteers, but perhaps the person is trying to portray the Paid Admins as volunteers? There are so many rumors here....when the thread was initially pulled, it had nothing to do with Bedrock, other than he incidentally quoted a nude picture and his post would be pulled. I've pulled or hidden many nude pictures over the years. The pictures didn't have to be in a sales thread, that's just where they happened to be this time. What ensued after the first thread was pulled was related to other posts he made afterwards. I had nothing to do with issuing any determinations or points that were made other than a notice without any points that I sent to JimJum about the picture. When the language escalated, I referred the 2nd thread to a PAID Admin. That person made the determination. They asked me a question about a note, but didn't wait for my answer. Unfortunately a lot of people are playing "telephone" here...and the facts are getting lost in the translation. BTW, all of the volunteer mods decisions (should we make any) are REVIEWED by the PAID Admin who can change them if they think they are not correct. "Star Chamber" is a little dramatic.
  2. There have been a few reports about how people who don't agree are speaking to each other. If I start spending a few hours of my time pulling posts, there will be more complaints. Some of you disagree with each other. That's fine...if you can't disagree nicely and have some tolerance if you don't like something you read that you don't agree with, I will have to lock the thread. I really don't want to lock the thread. Post respectfully please.
  3. I removed some really inappropriate meme's, please think before you post or quote. Thanks!
  4. I don't see anything that has not been approved, are you sure you hit submit? In the past there was a limit of 5 posts a day for new members, it's possible that has been reinstated, but I should be able to see the posts, all 5 of yours show.l
  5. Someone else wrote, so you are not alone. There is a language filter. We used to call it the "Spoon" filter because it would turn curse words into the word "spoon". Personally I thought that was cute btw. Sometimes people decide they want to avoid the filter and use a particular word despite the fact that it's against the rules, so they change a letter to a number, or add a space, # sign, etc lots of things will trick the filter (which now either deletes the word or changes it to a less contentious saying)...or what the programmers thing is less contentious. The word used today was not something that could be mistaken for a non curse word. Had it been spelled correctly, it would have been deleted, so the person who used the word made changes...to "mask" or hide it from the language filter. Hope that helps.
  6. While I agree that the asking price is highly unusual, masking is still not appropriate. I removed 1 post and 3 posts that quoted the masking... I've never seen so many people who are never, ever in trouble, quote a masked word. So I'm giving you all a 1 time get out of jail free card on this one. The originator got a notice (no points) the others just had their posts pulled with no notices. I'm explaining why here instead of sending a notice. Nice MM BTW (the Timely one;) Have a great weekend.
  7. I just gave someone a no point warning for going around the "spoon" or unacceptable language filter. I saw that he quoted someone else, who was obviously fast enough to change his post because I could not find it;) Please don't test the filters. I understand people are concerned, upset, uptight, worried, jumping for joy or maybe even all of the above. It's understandable, hopefully we will hear some specific news soon. Meanwhile, please be respectful.
  8. We've banned a few "spammers" lately who are responding to WTB ads, and sometimes to people who post that they were sorry they missed out on a book in the sales forums, but apparently there are more. If you get a pm telling you that a "friend" has a certain book you are looking for, please report it. One prolific person was banned yesterday, apparently he/she sent a whole bunch of pms before they were banned. That person was not the first one or not the first name that was used.. It appears that a few scammers have started IDs, but never posted in a thread, so there is no profile when you look for one. They are sending out private messages to people who are looking for certain issues. The pms have included various emails, sometimes pictures of books (that obviously belong to someone else). The no profile is usually a sign. The person may respond to your pm if you write back. That doesn't mean they are legit of course. At the upper right of your pm, you will see 3 dots. Just click there and report the pm. Please don't delete the pm, it's hard to find the person if you delete it first. We will do that and ban the "spammer" if appropriate. The issue has been reported to administration. It would be useful if we could tell them how often this occurs. I don't know if it's one person with a lot of names, or a circle of friends;) Thank you!
  9. A few zero points notices just went out and a few posts were hidden. Jokes are fine, politics are not. Thank you.
  10. There was a question in the ask CGC thread. I'm not sure the question belonged there, but I got a notification that I answered and I'll repeat it here. OUR board rules our (this has nothing to do with any other venues) No matter how you word it, the pricing for payment with Paypal must be the same or less than the other methods. So, you can price them all $100 Check, MO, Zelle or PP Or you could price them $100 is what you pay when you pay with Paypal, and it's $103 if you use a Check, MO or Zelle. You cannot give the advantage to a method other than Paypal, if you chose to use Paypal.
