  1. Thanks. I sent it in with the PGX case still encased since it provided the best protection.
  2. Got a rude awakening this morning. Last month, I purchased a PGX graded copy of X-men #1 (the eBayer even said in his description to get it CGC'd). Well...I then submitted it to CGC at SDCC since I prefer their cases. I didn't expect the grading (originally a 4.5) to come back the same, given the subjectiveness of grading. HOWEVER, the absolutely worst thing happened. CGC found that two pages were missing from the book and gave it the green "qualified" label (see photo). The book is still on its way back to me and will arrive Monday of next week. I don't know what to do. This is so disappointing. I'm planning to try and get a refund from eBay since I paid a premium ($4,300) for a complete book, not something that was missing pages. I remember reading threads not long ago about how some stores intentionally work with PGX to hide some of these flaws. I really hope this isn't the case. I thought this was just a helpful story for collectors.
  3. Completely lost control this month. Everything was recently purchased minus AF15. Was planning to buy a new watch. Budget went to comics instead. No regrets.
  4. I started seriously collecting comics in 2009. When I bought the overstreet guide that year, I wanted to set a goal to buy the top 10 books from both the silver and bronze age. What's funny is that as soon as I crack a certain price point, it gets easier to make the decision on buying the next expensive book (although my credit card was hurting). Some of my biggest purchases include (ranked by favorites): IH 181 8.5 $1,200 AF15 3.0 $12,000 DD 1 4.0 $625 Hulk 1 3.0 $10,500 Flash 105 4.0 $1,000 (wish I saved for showcase instead) TOS 39 4.0 $5,900 (recent CLink and overpaid) JIM 83 4.0 $6,300 (bought with TOS and overpaid) Justice League 1 4.0 $1,000 Brave and bold 5.0 $4,500 Avengers 1 4.0 $2,500 GL 1 4.0 $650 Sold my ASM 1 3.0 4 years ago and I'm still upset at myself for that decision. What I try to do is set clear goals every year on books I want. and i then try to be disciplined on not buying things I don't need (as simple as coffee) My objective for 2019 is a turtles 1 in mid/high grade.
  5. Completely lost control the last two days during the auction...still trying to figure out a way to explain it to the wifey.
  6. Hey everyone -- I recently purchase Hulk 1 during a comic connect auction this week. During check out, I realized that they do NOT accept credit cards for purchases over $2,500. I'm a long time customer, but have never previously gone over this mark. My question: Has anyone had success calling them over the phone to see if they can make an exception and accept CC.
  7. Just purchased my grail copy on Comic Connect auction today...the only issue is that I didn't realize that CC doesn't accept credit cards for purchases over $2,500. Planning to give them a call tomorrow to see if they can make an exception for me since I've bought so many comics from them in the past. Anyone ever have success with them?
  8. Wow. Those are tough prices for his work. Capullo is better off keeping them in the safe for another 10 years than charging 12-13K for panel pages in this current market. Look, he is a great artist and all, and I absolutely love his work with Snyder on Batman, but he is no Jim Lee.
  9. Hey -- All you have to do is create an imgur account. After you upload the image there, you need to copy the "direct link" html address. From there, go back to your sales post and select the "enter an image" icon. Out of curiosity, what grade is your copy and how much are you asking? I am in the market for a hulk #1
  10. Well, I am happy to share that I officially joined the club. Won today's auction for a 3.0 copy on Comiclink. It is not a perfect copy since it has a missing piece at the bottom left corner, but thankfully, it did not impact the major graphic. Overall it does present very nicely with no major creases or chipping and nice vibrant colors. I remember debating on buying a 4.0 copy for $8K three years ago...hilarious times. I will say it is such a satisfying feeling knowing that you own a piece of history. Definitely the action comics #1 of the silver age.
  11. Hey Everyone -- Where do you think AF#15 prices are heading. Admittedly, I didn't pull the trigger on a 4.0 copy 3 years ago for $7,000. Now it is more than double the price. Do you think it is now a bad time to buy a copy? This is not for investment purposes or speculation. I just really want a copy in my collection. I am justing wondering that, if i don't pull the trigger today, 3 years from now, will be like why the hell didn't I buy it then. Any thoughts? It's obviously a blue ship book, so it probably will never collapse...
  12. Mind if i ask how much you got that for? I am looking for a similar graded copy and want to make sure i am getting a reasonable price... thanks!
  13. so she says... Maybe, I will just give her a copy of AF15, instead of a ring. It would make a better conversation piece with her friends. Plus she will truly have a piece of my heart.
