  1. wow, really good movie. I was fortunate to get invited to an early showing here at Loewes through a Local comic shop. In defense of the guy that said X-Men Apocalypse the most like the comics and then he immediately got jumped on by a member here: It's true.. The movie feels like I was reading an Claremont X-men book or watching the 90's cartoon series. It was very nastalgic to see comic book characters portrayed as they actually were in the 70's or 80's. I'm referring to their personality and powers, and team chemistry.. That's a feeling none of the Disney MCU films have done for me yet.. Disney Marvel movies are like 'Chad' phish heads.. bland and uninspiring.. compared to the 'gypsy wook' in the room who is the X-men movie.
  2. All I have to say is that Deadpool, the first TMNT,The Wolverine, X-2, X-men First Class, X-men Days of Future Past,Winter Soldier, and Spider-man 2 (Raimi) are all my favorite comic movies pretty much... When I first saw X2 in the theatre it was the perfect movie. From the opening Nightcrawler scene to the final battle.. it didn't matter that it was more of a wolverine movie by the end.. we loved it. That said, I can see how the younger generations feel the same way about Captain America and Avengers now. What I don't get is the whole bashing of a movie before its seen. Lets be honest, If Scott Mendelson is the determining factor of whether or not I see a movie, I might as well kiss buckshot..
  3. Nyx 4 is a decent cover and has a first appearance or 2 as well if memory serves me correctly. I dunno about those Tron variants, they all look pretty stupid and I'd be embarrassed to display them. Also those varants aren't that rare. they were 1:15.. not 1:50 or 1:100. any mention yet of Eastmans Batman turtles variant covers?, especially #2.. its $100 bucks and selling like hotcakes.. the "coolest Batman cover ever".. according to my teen and preteen children.. I show them covers of Batman 251, 232, 227, and they remain unconvinced.
  4. Sorry for the necro bump but I've been getting this question a lot lately and I feel it's relevant . I had to read and flip through the issues to find out because there is a lot of misinformation concerning this first appearance and I just had a buddy buy a stack of the wrong issues.. Rocksteady and Bepop's first appearance is Archies TMNT mini-series #1 from the 3 issue mini series They appear as Humans in several pages, and the plot is essentially focused around them becoming mutants however we don't see 'mutant' Rocksteady and Bepop until issue #2 of the miniseries. This 3 issue miniseries is essentially the first appearance of the Technodrome, cartoon Krang, and Bepop/Rocksteady. Don't be confused with the archie regular series, several specuators bought up my stock of 1 and 2 online this weekend but it was the wrong series! While you are at it, be on the look out for the new Bepop and Rocksteady destroy everything miniseries!
  5. cool apocalypse look and other costumes, movie looks worth seeing! I'm digging the 80's look. We liked Days of Future Past so we'll go see Star Wars and X-men Apocalypse..
  6. way too many salty sausages on this thread...
  7. good to hear, filling out my Sandman run (1-75) and 70's Vampirella run next, Sandman will be the easy one, Vampirella might take a little bit.. sifitng through marvel magazine bins last 2 days turned me on to Vampirella and Savage Sword for sure.. cool books. now I have to complete those runs.. I just filled out New Mutants 1-100 run from 50 cent - dollar bins, surprised to see lots of #1's floating about for a few bucks each, will probably change after weekend. If anyone wants to make the trek to Elwood city to Todd's Warehouse there is at least a shortbox full of New Mutants #1 in the unsorted marvel section floating about... it usually takes a few weeks before locals grab all the keys.. Out of 6 shops, found 1 MGN 4. luckily it was in VF/NM 9.2 unread for only $5 bucks! I let the clerks know but they didn't care. good hunting!
  8. I don't know. Maybe. Fast and Furious at least has the broader appeal of hot cars, hot women and stuntwork. That's a 3-legged stool as old as Hollywood. Suicide Squad? Maybe it will be the mission? Audiences rooting for them to save the world or puppies or something. And a cool soundtrack. Maybe that does it. edit: Never mind. I was just looking up showtimes for Ex Machina and noticed there's a Mall Cop 2 out. Seriously. Mall Cop 2. Apparently there's an audience for everything. Suicide Squad will be just fine. check out Mad Max Fury Road its how an action flick should be done! As for Suicide Squad, I'd take that over a million soulless Avengers sequels and X-team spinoffs. Harley and Deadshot look good, and the internet blasted guardians for months till it came out. Suicide Squad has ta lot going for it because its going to lay the foundation of the DC universe on film. DC fanboys need to be more like the Avengers fanboys and shareholders who support the film even if it blows chunks. but dont go that far. just be good keyboard warriors supporting dc. I was almost convinced Avengers 2 was good then Fury Road came out and shook me into sense. mad props for Beast in that one..
  9. The series was great imo, just difficult for mainstream to digest. Phantom Stranger, Dr.Fate and Spectre show similar to twilight zone focusing on various relics of the dc universe told in a simple way would have got it done, called Showcase or something like DC Vertigo showcase an entry point into JL Dark an entry point into Tim hunter there ya go retcon him to not look like Harry Potter farm constantine stories ( we have a world of awesome villains and anti hero angels demons amophic beings immortals and we get papa midnight?? reallly>>>??) entry into Shade changing man story entry into suicide squad tie over entry point into the endless and various easter eggs (worlds end tavern) thesally, etc..) entry point into swamp thing why cant hollywood get this right?
  10. Not only is MGN #4 the first New Mutants appearance, its the first appearance of Sunspot, Cannonball, Wolfsbane, and Mirage (Psyche) who were all mainstay characters of the team for most of its duration. Its an incredibly tough book to find in high grade so it's going to be coveted much more in the long run than New Mutants #1 considering the "Key" factor of MGN #4. It took me a while to find an acceptable raw 9.8 long before movie hype. I think the current entry point of $50-75 for a fine+ MGN #4 will sound much more reasonable now that NM#1 is approaching $20-40. MGN#4 is a must have for any x-men fan, easily a top 10 "X-men Key" for passionate X-men collectors. was for me at least
  11. thanks for the info, I wanted to add that not only is MGN #4 the 1st appearance of New Mutants. Its also the first appearance of Cannonball, Wolfsbane, Sunspot, and Psyche (Mirage). the issue has been unusually hard to find in high grade long before movie hype. It took me a few years to secure what i felt was a 9.8 or better during the early 2000's. Saw a few 9.6's and 9.8's added in the census when Days of Future Past hit (Sunspot) but not that many. a seller currently has a 9.6 for $300 and I think that is a great deal for 1st printing white pages, no pics yet though. high grade copies of this book don't exist.. the only 9.8 on evilbay is a canadian variant good luck rummaging through drek bins folks next few days!! Im sure some will come out of the woodwork now..
  12. you modern experts might know but what issues have Deadpool in a battletech suit riding a dinosaur (preferably a Trex or Triceratops) fighting TMNT ?? I need to stock up for future speculating.. instant gold that is
  13. 4/20 was yesterday What's the deal with 35 now? If something big happens in 40, then 40 and 1 will be the two issues of interest. 35 is just the start of that storyline. Or am I completely missing something? You're missing something Care to elaborate? true that, it (Batman 35 JL cover) was just a $6 book last week.. just checked ebay and its $15 minimum. it crept up over the weekend. same with vader #3..up to $12 Batman is supposed to be using a bunch of suits next few movies like the Hellbat, hopefully Insider, but mainly Justice Buster since how else is he going against Doomsday>? the kids (11-17 demographic) are ALL about superheroes in mech suits, dinosaurs, TMNT, and Deadpool. that's my 'far out' logic why Batman 35 could be a key.. seems far fetched to us, but hey "Looks at Macross #1 and that Iron Man 304 drek book".. Batman does happen to kick the JLA's in a Battletech suit. more like a armored infantry unit the Justice Buster but I dont want to get Battletech
