  1. Agree, great question. It's kind of a wait and see kind of thing. As seen in the Action #1000 threads, Action #1000 slabs don't say "1st appearance of Rogol Zaar" yet, especially the Jim Lee variants which has the character on the cover. So it's up to you if you want to take the risk or wait until you see that CGC gets on it and updates the label.
  2. Many dealers now deal with CCs and the like but I doubt they would hesitate if someone rolled out a wade of cash. I know I wouldn't feel comfortable having more than $1,000 on me and walking around a con or anywhere. That's what having a CC is for. Not sure what people have done if they really need more than $1,000 for a purchase and it had to be straight cash. Maybe meet the dealer at their hotel or a dark alley
  3. I would enjoy being special for day, of that's what it takes
  4. This is going to be my first Heroes Con, so pretty excited. Thanks for all the information on this thread! Looking forward to stopping all the booths!
  5. That Adventures of Superman #14 is a great issue and a great cover!
  6. HAHAHA, you know it's coming...
  7. So getting back to the question at hand...I am going to go with "NO". For a couple of reasons, I believe the company has lower standards of grading than others, so your book will more than likely (no promises) come back with a higher overall grade. However, you are looking at a lower quality of grading standards, so this will lead to the value of the book being lower (if you were ever want to sell it or trade it). I would advice to google and find out for yourself the reputation of PGX, and other companies, if you really don't want to keep the CGC Universal Grade "Blue Label". Good luck!
  8. Agree as well. Thankfully the Action #1000 variant(s) that i wanted were by my LCS (Kaare Andrews Third Eye Comics variant) , Curt Swan and the Jock variant. Here is the link to the Jock variant for Batman #50. Batman #50 I actually like most of the Batman #50 variants except for ones that are pretty generic. Mainly having Catwoman and Batman together is enticing me, especially in the wedding dress
  9. M&T Bank (Ravens) stadium is a mile away....so I blame Ravens fans too!
  10. I blame Orioles fans for seeing the museum every time they go to a game and probably not once going in! But in reality, I think the location was never a good fit and the marketing of GEM. I have never taken a trip myself but now I really want to before it closes. It's sad but at least it will have some notice being at the Library of Congress. This way someone doesn't really have to keep up with the pricing of having the items on display but unfortunately now the government has control of it.
  11. Someone get CGC on this quick, so newer slabs will have it annotated!!!
  12. The first scenario you presented seems unlikely but never say never. It takes a lot to crack a slap, take the book out of the sleeve and then resend it to get slabbed (probably not worth the trouble just to get you on not sending the correct book). I've been buying and selling on eBay for long while now and only had one situation that caused me trouble. Thankfully the situation was handled easily since I insure and put signature confirmation on my high priced items for sale. This will definitely keep you safe and piece of mind when it comes to scammers. The one situation I had was a high priced CGC SS book sent and the buyer sent pictures of the slab having very minor cracks and wanted a total refund. Thankfully I recent my previous pics of what the item looked like before shipping and also the insured confirmation with details to contact the insurer. I never heard from the buyer again, so I am assuming it was resolved. As mentioned, other 3rd party sites are good: Commic Link, MyComicShop, etc. I hope this thread doesn't deter people from selling or buying books on eBay.
  13. So just want to go on a rant that Marvel's paper quality is going down the tube. I just picked up Amazing Spider-Man #800 and WOW did it take me forever to find a good copy (9.8 quality) of just one of the variants! I know this has been an issue, especially with their MCU books (with the black covers) but I never thought it would affect an important/fundamental issue like ASM #800! Their blank covers have the best card stock cover out of any variant! I really think this will affect the number of high grade books that we see in Marvel Comic's future if this keeps up! How can this be fixed (if at all)?
  14. I think most notes on CGC labels state "Origin of the alien symbiote that eventually becomes Venom" ...thankfully. But yeah, most sellers usually put "1st appearance of Black Costume" in their heading, when it technically is NOT! Sticking to the thread, is there a way for your 9.8 to have it annotated like your 9.4 to read " 1st appearance of 'Aliens' in comics"?
  15. Agree with @Kevlar (who is definitely a good facilitator) Do you have another way to contact the facilitator? (i.e. phone, txt messaging, email?) I agree Facebook Messaging is not my cup of tea for contacting people, facilitators or anyone else. Just because it shows that someone has "seen" the message doesn't really mean they have thought about the message and are ready to reply. Facilitators are busy and they may want to answer your question appropriately. Also, I do know that Miller will be at other signings, so not sure why they couldn't get him at another show? If things don't get any better you may want to look at another facilitator... (hopefully the facilitator sees this post and gets back to you soon!)
  16. I think maybe a Sebastian Shaw/Mastermind movie

  19. Sorry to hear, I think a majority of us were pulling for you! Now with new sunglasses at least you won't be blinded by the websites deception (also thanks for keeping us posted until the end)
  20. Let's hope there is A LOT of downtime....or just tell everyone not to bring any Star Trek stuff so the only thing he can sign is other books such as Uncanny X-Men, etc
  21. I have also heard that CGC probably will not happen, per his request.
  22. I would say either Sentry vol.1 #3: http://marvel.wikia.com/wiki/Sentry_Vol_1_3 or Sentry/Hulk#1 http://marvel.wikia.com/wiki/Sentry:_Hulk_Vol_1_1
