  1. It happened to me, so it's for real... I'll post what the grade is once I can see it
  2. I'm able to select a box stating something like "use pending payment amount to pay for shipping costs" at the very bottom of the shipping screen, before you click PAY. I've had a "negative" payout balance show for about a day until the processing payment gets added into the payout amount. May only work for USPS payments - it didn't work for UPS the other day (had to use CC). I'm not sure if this is available to all sellers, but that's been my experience. I've been on ebay for 20+ years and just recently became a "top rated" seller. Again - no idea if that plays a part or not.
  3. I understand that of course... I would also like to be able to understand just what sources that exercised opinion comes from. If it is based on CGC values or Raw values. Seemingly no one can answer this.
  4. see reply ^ - Also the customer service rep could not tell me the grade yet or anything really other than they reserve the right to do this
  5. I just called customer service and part of what I asked was how they determine value. The employee would not give me a straight answer where their values come from or how to determine them. They couldn't tell me whether I'm supposed to go by raw values or cgc values in the grade I think it's going to be. How are we supposed to determine what the value even is when the people grading the books don't make this clear? They just kept going back to effectively "we reserve the right to bump it and you agree to that by submitting" The reason I said the "only way.." is that this instance does not line up with their policy as I've experienced it. To this point I've always thought it was based on RAW values. I can't be alone in thinking that. Now I have been told CGC themselves will not make it known where their assessment of declared values comes from.
  6. **Updates on Pages 4 and 7** I received this email at about 1 AM East Coast time last night (7/20). The submission just went to Grading/Encapsulating/Imaging yesterday. -------- Dear Valued Customer,CGC has made an adjustment to your submission. Adjustments are made when comics do not qualify for the tier that has been selected. There are two possible reasons that a comic submission is adjusted:1. CGC believes that the value of the comic exceeds the maximum value allowed under the selected tier; or,2. The comic does not meet the requirements for the tier selected. (Examples: a non-modern comic was submitted under the Modern tier or the minimum quantity for the selected tier was not reached.)The following adjustments have been made to your submission:Invoice: _____ Line(s): 019This comic was moved from the MODERN tier to the STANDARD tier. Your account was adjusted by $49.50If you have any questions, please contact CGC Customer Service at 1-941-360-3991 or Service@CGCcomics.com.Thank you, CGC -------- Now, Near Mint copies of the book in question (Kanan #6) have been selling for $100 - $200. I understand max tier value for modern is $400. CGC graded 9.8s have been selling for $600 - $650. 9.6s have been $200 - $300. I didn't even think the book was a surefire 9.8. Seemed more like 9.6 at best IMO, but it came back a 9.8. I've honestly thought declared values were to be based on RAW values up to this point. I can't find a single obvious source or CGC customer service agent who will explain how they determine value or where the data comes from.. only that it's their sole determination. So is it Raw values, CGC values from GPA/Ebay, etc.., or something else?
  7. Thank you everyone! Follow up question I'm having a hard time with.. Would getting the slight spine roll/fanning fixed actually improve the grade at this range?
  8. Hi Joey, I've heard your name come up many times but I don't think we've had the pleasure of doing business. Hope you had a great holiday weekend. Yes, I'm in the process of doing just that. I always appreciate how helpful the boards are, and I try to be helpful when someone has a question I can help answer.
  9. I was thinking it could, but I appreciate the varied opinions. Do you think CCS can accomplish this? I don't know how much "tweaking of the spine" they offer. I'll likely need to give them a call but curious if anyone on the boards has had them do this. I know there are other pressers out there as well. Just a little nervous on a book this big (big for me anyway )
  10. Hi all I was fortunate to pickup this copy of Strange Tales 110 and would appreciate opinions on the grade. Please note there is a white backing board behind the book.
  11. I was fortunate to pickup a nice copy of ST 110, with a moderate spine roll (see photos). I'm a noob when it comes to pressing spine rolls out and really don't want to risk anything on the book. Would CCS be able to remove it or should I search for someone else? Or, would it not affect grade much on the book in your opinion. Thanks for any help in advance!
  12. Good lord, guys - everyone is digging up my old posts lately
  13. Yeah, somehow they got around that.. no idea how ! Thanks for bouncing ideas around and helping me narrow in
  14. Ahhhh yes, he is located in the Phillipines and it looks like they may not be included in the global shipping program. I think that might be it
  15. Maybe location related but i use Ebay's global shipping program. I'll look into that maybe
  16. Hmm, I checked my manual blocked bidder list and he's not on it - so I'm guessing he has had strikes against him recently or something. Here are my settings. And he's not winning or bought anything from me.
  17. I have an item up for $215. This ebay member sends me a message claiming they can't use Buy It Now, but will pay asking price in the form of a Best Offer... but he doesn't want me to send HIM an offer to complete via best offer Any idea what his game might be? I don't see how ebay could limit a buyer's ability to use BIN.
  18. My only submission (magazine) moved to Finalized/Shipped early this morning. They were signed by Eastman 3/5/21 per the notes. All Last Ronin split between 5 variants. two 9.6s (unexpected), the rest 9.8s, and one 9.9!
  19. Just checking in. My submission has been at Scheduled for Grading for some time now. Magazine, no pressing, Eastman sig only. Marked as received 1/26/21. I think mine were probably in the batch that Eastman didn't get to during the in-house signing. I'd venture a guess that they completed all the ones with remarks first during the in-house and had mostly sigs only for the "out of house" signing. Hoping for movement this week
  20. I've had Gemini's (without cardboard) get beat up so much that the book arrived damaged. Don't get me wrong, it's RARE, but it has happened. Rolling the dice and not adding extra cardboard would probably be fine 98% of the time... but I overpack for safety for sure and haven't had an issue.
  21. The majority of small orders (1-5 books) I've received that arrive without issues would be using the cardboard sandwhich Inside a gemini method (no bubble envelope). I've recieved everything from $5 to $200 orders this way. That said, accidents/damage CAN happen even with that method but it's very rare IMO with the exta cardboard sandwich and adequate "PLEASE DO NOT BEND" Markings/ labels. Side note: what source are you pricing the cardboard sheets from?
