Dwellers in the Mirage by A. Merritt Avon 413 1952 $50
Another stone cold classic Golden Age Avon. This one fantasy with a Raymond Johnson nude Good Girl in the monster's clutches
Fine Plus/Very Fine minus. Square, glossy and tight with great colors. No creasing, just some very light edgewear, tiny color chip on back spine. Store stamp and marker price on title page

Gonna get this going again.
Never Kill a Client by Brett Halliday Dell 6300 1st Print November 1963 $15
Cool McGinnis GGA cover
Fine Plus/VF minus - Square and tight, has small bend on rear, light wear to extremities. Small shadow inside front cover, probably a tiny name sticker that fell off long ago.

I just finished George Martin’s “Fire & Blood” and have now started Raymond Chandler’s, “High Window”. I am just a couple of chapters in and thoroughly enjoying some Philip Marlowe.

Batman The Best of the Original Batman Signet D2939 First Printing March 1966 $15
First Batman paperback. Reprints the origin and other early classics.
Fine overall. Square and tight with great color. Minimal wear but has a crease that breaks color at top right, a finger bend on back and wear at the edges. Still a much better than usual copy.

A dreamy GGA cover confection by pulp master Rafael DeSoto on this Pop. Another one with a great 2nd painting done for the back cover.
Fine. Square and solid, pages tight and the book looks unread or lightly read, but downgraded for edgewear and some light cover fading and soiling, most visible in the whites.
40% off please

Last one for this morning as I have some sunday errands to run but I'll wrap it up tonight with a mixed bag of goodies
Coffin For A Hood by Lionel White Gold Medal 775 PBO 1st Printing June 1958 $20
Killer Darcy (Ernest Chiriaka) headlights cover art to one of my favorite crime authors PBO. He's got a .45 but her .38's are spectacular as they say.
A book that is far more than it's cover. White writes great crime capers that keep the pages turning.
Hard to grade. Has Very Fine, unread qualities but has some page edge fading and bending to the book from storage as shown. Covers are bright and glossy, smooth and uncreased.

Oh man, I missed some great ones tonight! They don’t hang around very long at all.
I will take this one…

If you know Pocket's, you know. Very hard to find 1st Prints of the early editions. One of the most collected early titles for obvious reasons.
Not very high grade but a nicely presenting copy of a book that is extremely difficult to find any better than this due to multiple issues, age (82!), papery lamination,, hard cardboard covers etc. etc.
Very Good. Solid and square, everything tight, retains plenty of gloss. The thin lamination is mostly present but has the usual lifts, losses and tears. Soiling on the back cover. Bright white pages. The lack of hard creases makes this remain nice looking from the front.

Memory of Love by Bessie Breuer Avon 196 1949 $15
Sweet headlights GGA credited to Ann Cantor, but as I revealed in my article, she was an art agent subbing work out to artists like Johnson. It is gorgeous work, whoever painted it and is indicative of how Avon moved on from the stiff art of the earlier 1940's during this time.
Fine/Fine Plus Solid spine with slight slant. Great colors, smooth covers with minimal wear and creasing. A very collectible copy.

The Long Wait by Mickey Spillane Signet 932 1st PB, 1st Printing May 1952 $20
Tough gangster fiction with a great Lu Kimmell GGA bondage cover. I have several nice Spillane Signets to list this week.
Fine Plus. Super glossy and new looking. Appears unread, other than a bit of rubbing on the spine edges and finger bend on back, only has some factory defects. A bit of the page edge dye on the cover and spine and a bindery tear at the top and bottom spine. Pages and inner covers are really nice for a Signet.

The Mad King by Edgar Rice Burroughs Ace 51402 $12
The first of the "Tall" Ace editions. A dynamic Frazetta cover.
Fine Plus. Appears unread or very lightly read. Square solid spine has a hairline crease. Color chip to top spine. Has a few pressure creases on cover that barely photograph. Age toning to the pages and inner covers bring the grade down a bit. Structurally very pretty
CLOSED. Thanks to all :) RECAP P. 7 Surfing Alien's October Horror and More! Golden Age paperback sale. As much Horror as I could "dig up"
