Yeah I wasn't sure whether to put this thread in Golden or Silver Age, but I kind of consider it silver age myself.

Selling internationally on eBay... yea or nay?
TrevorP24 replied to oldrover's topic in Comics General
I've never paid double duty but they do charge too much. There is no duty on books entering Canada. You do however need to pay 5% GST. They are charging both duty and Tax in the GSP which I've complained about to Ebay before. I can't remember their actual response but it was some political nonsense that didn't even address my concern. But if its a book a really want, I'll still pull the trigger. It's not a big deal shipping to Canada from the States. Sellers just need to put the actual value paid on the package and customs never puts up a fuss. It's when you try to beat the system that things go sour. I wish more people would ship to Canada!! -
If you ever want to sell it (not that you should), let me know!

Yeah its pretty bad, but I thought just in case.... I wasn't sure how low you were willing to stoop

There's a beat up copy on ebay... https://www.ebay.ca/itm/Black-Knight-3-1955-Atlas-comics-Joe-Maneely-Rare-reading-copy/333098598767?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3D92c3303829d144e5b07168b232dd2dc5%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D15%26sd%3D333098598767%26itm%3D333098598767&_trksid=p2481888.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3Af89db226-5c89-11e9-b1ab-74dbd1805251|parentrq%3A0db80a5216a0ac3d1872bc7dfff5be8f|iid%3A1

Dane Whitman/Black Knight First Appearance #47 or #48?
TrevorP24 replied to Xenosmilus's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
I'm of the opinion that the key would be the first appearance of Dane Whitman. Much in the same way that the first appearance of Carol Danvers in MSH 13 is considered to be the key rather than her first appearance as Ms. Marvel or Captain Marvel. #48 is his first appearance as the Black Knight, but the Black Knight as a legacy character goes back much much farther (1955). Although those who don't read the books might just want the cover of #48. These are just my opinions though -
I was wondering if a boardie had this copy. Sweet!!!!

Very nice copy!

It seems that Stan's signature is worth more on higher grade rarer books. It appears to be an exponential increase in percentage the higher the grade goes

Very nice!

Very Nice! And yes very hard to find.

@ bc Joe Maneely art is amazing. It is a pity he died so young. He could have been who everybody talked about alongside Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko.

Aye Carumba! "picked it up" so casually. I saw the sale of this book on GPA.....

I went looking for a club for this awesome rare book, and couldn't find one so I thought I would start it up. I'm interested to see how many boardies have a copy of this one! This is undervalued in my opinion. First appearance of Sir Percy, the original Black Knight First appearance of the Ebony Blade, a legacy weapon that is among the most powerful in the marvel universe. First appearance of Morgan Le Fay These significant first appearances combined with the rarity, puts this as a key book. Here are my copies of #1 and #2. These are hard to find in any condition. I'd like to complete the set at some point.

Great Buyer! Wonderful to work with. Thanks for the purchase!

Welcome to the club

I saw Stan Lee at the Calgary expo a few times, and I remember the first time I saw his panel. He was asked about Doctor Strange and he said that Doctor Strange was Steve Ditko's brain child. Steve apparently came up with the idea, and character, Stan wrote the scripts.

That's a nice looking 7.0 I suspect there will be renewed interest in this book once the good doctor comes back to life. I almost sold my 8.0 signature series a couple years back, but the buyer was a no show at our meeting point. Actually pretty happy about that. Glad to still have it. Not gonna give it up anytime soon. I bought another one recently too, a 6.5.

Don't Pooh Pooh this Save Tibet thread!
TrevorP24 replied to ivegotneatstuff's topic in Golden/Silver/Bronze Age Only
I love this! The crisis in Tibet is one of the worst ongoing humanitarian issues today and it is pretty much ignored! I applaud you!
