  1. wish I could but I don't have possession of them-metropoilis comics is selling them for me so youd have to go through them for pictures that are not shown through the link

but they are a cornucopia of history with great sundays and ads older and rarer then any superman or batman #1

hated to part with them but they were just taking up space and id rather pass them on at a reasonable price to someone who will love them

now granted they aren't in the best shape but paper from the 30's will brown and rip at times but I know you will be happy with them

  2. hi all-

I found this forum and am excited cause im looking for fans of this stuff-I have like four books of sundays put together in bound volumes from the 30s and 40s I believe selling through metropolis-not the greatest condition but historic and only books of its kind like it from the san Francisco chronicle-please take a look and consider for purchase (I could use the $ lol)

    thanks

  3. hey gator

what's up with cgc's quality assurance dept/customer control dept?

I pay a premium to insure my books are graded by at least two graders and shipped out with care and correctness

I understand the shear wealth of books that go through their doors, but before books are shipped its their responsibility to insure correctness for such a big company right

    so

I just got some books back from comic con and for the second time they sent back an incorrect book

a sensation #11 double cover was labeled sensation #97 (?!)

that's pretty annoying as I don't have the time or energy to send this book back for correction

if they make such a careless mistake with this it brings into question just how carefully they are grading my books and how much attention they are putting into it (sorry that its not an action #1 guys) im very displeased and don't want to be inconvenienced in any way

I suppose they are coming to a local convention in late September and I could go there and just drop it off

    but

    im annoyed and displeased

so my question to you is what would you do in my situation and have you ever had problems like this with them and their quality control

    thanks my friend

  4. hey my friend-

    question

I want to show good form, be polite and follow the rules, so if I have something up for sale in metropolis' comicconnect auction am I allowed to list (publicize) the items here on these boards to drum up interest or is that not allowed

    and

if so which forum or subforum should I list it in

    thank you

  5. Yes very typical. :/

That said, some of the Betty and Veronica covers are classics, and the stories are just as good as any other Archie title. I'm certain you will have no problem finding a great copy of #1. As a matter of fact there are 7 copies currently for sale on eBay as well as a bound volume that includes issues 1-20.

Why don't you scan or take a picture of that #2 and add it to Steve's Favorite Archie Covers thread … it certainly belongs there.

    so true!

and love that thread of favorite covers

as to why I don't scan or post=100% cause I have no computer skills or tech ability whatsoever.

ive tried but its usually a horrible mess so I stopped bothering

  6. being a typical guy, I was always more into archies girls betty and veronica instead of archie or pep-

the books are cool and cheaper

    I love the covers too

I have a #2 which Is a great chess cover and I will work someday on getting a #1 which isn't a key really other then being a #1 nor super expensive (relatively of course)

  7. gator I need your expert advice re: which would you get/what is the better deal/what would you do if you were I?

looking to get a superman 76

there is one on ebay graded at 3.5 for 750

and there is one on metropolis website that they have listed as a 4.5 (I question that grade with the spine role despite glossy cover) for 520 unslabed (I would pay to get it slabed by cgc but I wouldn't want it coming back lower then the 3.5 that I can get on ebay) so which would you get here are links to both thanks for your input keep going back and forth-dont mind spending the 750 if the book is going to end up grading higher then the metropolis book which doesn't look like a 4.5 to me, but I am far from an expert

  8. hi Gator-

how much or x guide should I ask for any random 'X" copy of a double cover book.

say I have a non key dc superhero book from the late 60's with a double cover, unslabbed that's like VG and OPG guides it out at like say....30.00. how much should I ask for it for the scarcity of being a double cover book?

    ty :)
