  1. I just wanted to update this thread because I finally received the book. HRC apologized that it took so long and I am hopeful that the issues that they were having are behind them. I also appreciate the responses from members.
  2. I appreciate the replies. I don't have any social media accounts so after many polite phone calls and emails, I was curious to see if any else was having similar problems. I'm glad that doesn't seem to be the case, but its still disconcerting that its been 2 months and the responses from HRC are "it will ship soon." Hopefully it does.
  3. I sent them a Weird Mysteries #5 on November 2nd to see if some tape could be removed from the cover. The booked was screened on December 17th and it was determined that they could not safely remove the tape. I replied, no problem, just return the book to me. Unfortunately, after two months of emails asking about the book and being told it will ship soon, I still don't have the book. I have been told that the owner has been having some health issues, but I just wanted to see if anyone else is having similar problems with Hero Restoration Comics? Thanks.
  4. The feedback on this has been great, there is no doubt the cost to let CCS & CGC press and grade is a lot of money. I have had some suggestions to have someone else press the book to save some money, then send it in for regrading. I might do this if the book wasn't worth so much. The cost to ship with insurance and the possibility of this being the box that gets lost or damaged, I don't think is worth it. The easy thing is to have them send it back, but this morning I'm really leaning towards letting them press it. I appreciate the continued input on this.
  5. I appreciate all the feedback on this and I'm thinking of just having the book sent back as is. The fees for having it pressed and regraded combined are 5.5% of the estimated value. So with the last 7.5 selling on comiclink last week at $140K, that's $7700. But, if it came back as an 8, the $7700 would have been well worth it. I'm not looking to flip the book or anything. I just started having books graded for the day I decide to sell them all or if something happens to me, make it easy for my wife to sell them.
  6. Thank you. Here are the graders notes for it: address/date/name stamp right top of back cover crease left top of back cover multiple bend spine breaks color multiple crease right bottom of front cover breaks color small crease right top of whole book breaks color small indent left top of front cover small indent right bottom of back cover staple rusted top of spine Its OW and the date stamp on the back is great, really good place and clear.
  7. I resubmitted a AF15 7.5 to CGC that I had graded a couple years ago to see if it was a candidate for pressing. They contacted me yesterday to say it had a 50/50 chance for improvement with pressing. I showed the book to Gator at Heroes Con before it was resubmitted and he was right on with his analysis that it had a 50/50 shot at being upgraded. So I'm trying to decide what to do. It's an expensive gamble to take with no payoff if it comes back the same grade. Or, just have it sent back as is and its probably a more valuable 7.5 since it has a shot at being a 8. I'd appreciate some thoughts on this in case I'm missing something. Thanks. I don't have a picture of it graded, but here is one of it before it was originally submitted.
  8. I thought the 8.0 copy with "Stan Lee 75" written on the cover looked familiar. I went back and checked a for a copy I sold 6 years ago. If its the same book, maybe a .5 bump with pressing, but it did not have white pages.
