  1. Bagging and boarding! It feels like bringing a little order to an otherwise chaotic and indifferent universe
  2. ____ one of the harder jobs to do well. Period. Between the traffic, the management tracking every action, the sheer physical toll... it always amazes me they can still manage to muster a smile, hold the door & walk 4 flights to drop a package at one's door. I encourage anyone to walk a mile in their shoes ... become a driver helper for the season (as I have done 3 seasons). Guaranteed to lose 10lbs and see some beautiful sunsets.
  3. Hopefully CGC will keep the boards up on any legal / follow up actions taken in regard to this matter .
  4. Strap on comic bro gives me the ick like serious boomer level cringe bro. I mean bro clearly was triggered, toxic anxiety bro in his search for keys. Keys bro. So dumb. Beta male hide behind his camera bro - it wasn't him bro - it's his self diagnosis bro - it's carte blanche for his bad behavior. Spluh! Totes imposter syndrome. Red flags every where. So typs that bro resorts to gaslighting. I hope he gets therapy yaaaaah
  5. One other fun thing about Spawn is that it was cheaper than other comics too... holding a less than $2 price point long after the industry had blown past $4 per issue
  6. @newshane... did you ever have anxiety about maintaining the high grades? Opposite of acquiring them but maintaining 9.8+ books ... did that ever cause anxiety or worry?
  7. Spawn is a great example of how Image books just popped on the shelf color-wise. The early age of digital coloring. But also... Spawn and black covers amirite? LOVED them but also UGH they showed every little spine tick, color rub, finger dent spluh
  8. Seeing 6-7 again it really reminds me how Todd's eye is on his toys, but he's also about to take criticism of his writing to heart with these next issues ... a man of two minds.
  9. Spawn collecting seems very competitive (after the first 65+ issues). I've been a patient picker through the years for the issues I've needed and when I've hit a table / show ... the answer is likely the same - "another collector was just through asking that." It got to the point where I'd ask for any "oddball Spawn stuff" To collect it now seems intimidating. To put a run together like yours, newshane, seems not possible. The variants are exhausting, every once in a while one gets released at FOC and every local shop will miss it, eg 306 Gunslinger cover. Then it's $80. Or $35 for some other issue. It becomes transactional. Collecting Spawn is often an exercise in managing FOMO, and that is a part of nostalgia / collecting that is less fun. That said, love the thread and love the title!! Mcfarlane puts out a good product... and I'm still along for the ride.
  10. Only one time have I come across a BW #1 in the wild (regionally).... it was a VFNM copy for $100 and I flinched. Next time I saw it was around the 600 mark
  11. I wasted too many years on bad LCSs thinking I was loyal. A good LCS has saved me a lot of money on resale prices. There was a saying on the boards (maybe RMA)... cool once, cool again- popular once, popular again. It serves as a reminder that even when your books are down n out, worthless... if it's good stuff it will be valuable / desirable again someday. My example was my Valiant collection. I suppose you only make the tape pull mistake once before you use a tape alternative or cut the piece with a scissors before pulling the book out.
  12. Here's my old red label Modern- probably never crack it, just let it age
  13. Underground comix haul this year ... incl a portion of my SS gift exchange, the new Drew Friedman & a Freak Bros toque
  14. The lady got me this Batman x Staple collaboration ... unique! 🦇
  15. Happy holidays everyone- special thanks to SS @HighRadArt ... what a fun assortment!! Each gift was theme-wrapped ... including some psychedelic wrapping for the Freak Bros stash box / underground comix and this Batman wrapping hiding a haul of Spawn & Dr Aphra comics. Gotta step up my game next year! Thank you & more thanks to come. Best, Om
  16. I did not renew my membership because of this thread. I had paid for it and hoped to submit but haven't for 2 years now.

  18. The note and envelope address make it appear as though a kid took the book
  19. 100x yes. SCS, the creep engine, static, shards, indents, Newton rings, staple rust ... I've learned the hard way that 'getting' & 'keeping' a 9.8 comic are two entirely different things.
  20. Kitchen Sink Press comix often included printing info in the indicia ... the smallest number is the printing, 1 is first, 2 is second etc Similar to many book publishers
