Still getting pressed books back with the mysterious finger bends. Will they ever learn.

ME, like Economy and Mags, pushed aside to get the Modern turn-around looking respectful. My last ME took almost 2 months, where in the past it was, before the Modern push, a week turn-around.

They do provide a return label. It's provided to print after you fill out the ME form (not emailed separately)

My 1/13/22 economy books are now in the GEI phase of life

I take a sharpie to the case and circle the scratch, debris and/or damage so that there is a better chance to get it fixed.

Received 10/25/22 25 MODERN Shipped 11/9/22 Beat my two Mechanical error subs (received 10/18) by about 8 days

I had mentioned not too long ago about two 1990's X-Men 1, graded 9.8, each arriving with one sunken staple (not fully popped). Returned as Mechanical Error and got both back regraded to 9.4 with no further communication. I called customer service and luckily I had a copy of my original submission page showing that they were originally both 9.8 (They are now only listed as 9.4 with no paper trail on CGC's end to show that they were originally 9.8). CGC actually took responsibility and credited my account for the loss of value plus refunded grading fees and I still own the books. The CS rep was very helpful, passing my info on to a claims rep and it all worked out in the end.

Means my end of January books will post soon.

They grade Playboy for the articles.

I submitted it and I agree that the piece was there when it was graded. But as usual, when you question CGC graders they seem to have an answer that's in their favor. I had close to 60 copies, bought wholesale in 1982 and although CGC says this is a common bindery tear none of my copies seem to have been affected. No grader notes, of course, and tear not noted on label.

Here is an example of the Wolverine Limited #1 Marvel tear... Confirmed by CGC graders.... Wonder if this example made it into the book?

You'd be just as well off storing it in mylar and double boarding the comic book. Chances of damage from shipping to and from CGC and what can happen through handling at CGC are something to consider. ( I just had a package with 2 slabs sent to CGC for a 2nd Mechanical Error fix be refused by CGC because of package damage by UPS). I know that some collectors like their collection all slabbed up but it's not really much better protection if you know how to properly store your books. The Joey is @joeypost and he is a highly respected presser on this board who, I'm sure, will share his expert opinion.

Nice book. Thanks for the pics. I'm concerned about the water stains keeping the grade down, even with a clean and press. Also, the cover looks like it's holding on to those staples by a hair, meaning a press might cause more damage. Some with more experience with grading/pressing a book in this condition, I'm sure, will weigh in.

I think if you share some pictures you'll get some better responses.

I imagine you can call when they are open. Hopefully you wrote the initials of the signer on the outside of the box so that they are not stuck with the normal submissions. They should be able to identify using your return address on the shipping label.

Yes, I was surprised when customer service asked me if I had pictures showing that the books were originally 9.8 and a bit shocked when I went to my submission page and found that the original grades on the original submission list were changed. Was it a deliberate attempt at a cover up? I don't know, but CGC shouldn't be damaging our books and think a regrade is a fix and ignore their obligations to their customers for their mistakes.

That also goes for graded books that have been damaged and are going back to CGC for a "fix" or review. I had returned (ME) two graded 9.8 books with post-grade damage and CGC regraded them to a 9.4 and just sent them back without contacting me regarding the change. I called customer service and found that there was no record of them originally being 9.8. The original submission list was changed to 9.4 but luckily I had taken a screen shot of the sub list prior to sending them back, showing they were originally 9.8's.

In general, if CGC has a Signature Series signing you can submit a SS slab to that signing. CGC will crack it open and do the deed.
