I think I might have found a few "hard-to find-books" today! Got up at 5am and went on a 3 hour drive to a Craigslist ad I found yesterday. On the other end was a super awesome dude, on the wrong side of 60 and today was the day he decided to let a chunk of his 3 decade long collection go, because his "decorations" might be better off somewhere new!
It was easily my biggest random/WTF haul ever. The ad was bleak, pic was perfect.....tucked in-between pics of a sock monkey collection and an old broken grandfather clock. A couple emails asking for prices didn't go anywhere, so this morning my wife affirmed my "if you don't go look, it'll eat you up not knowing for sure what was actually there."
I left A LOT behind, but unfortunately I had to....For Now....So I ended up focusing on books I'll never see again, high Gerbers and neat war covers.
I literally had to beg, plead and pry the Powers Comics #2 from him, but it proved to be the biggest book I couldn't leave behind. He said it had to go back to his vault 5 times, but I insisted that if it wasn't included, I wouldn't spend as much. "dork hard ball?" And is it weird I think the Comedy Comics #1 is the coolest book of the bunch?
And yes a couple Qualified issues, but who in their right mind could leave some of them behind......Ummmm Action #16 (non Sup cover) in any condition????
The color and gloss on the Airboy #1 just blows me away. Humble Brag....Probably....
Now to try and figure out values when there's ZERO GPA on most of them. Gags #1 form 1937....NOTHING....A couple are highest graded and not a single book has been pressed or cleaned.
This will certainly go down as One of the Days! Thanks for listening! 😬
