Did this Livewire girl appear in the actual television animated show first prior to being in a comic?
If you're asking whether the episode or the comic came out first, I'm not sure, but...
I have the 1990s Superman Animated Series DVD set and watch the shows semi-regularly with my toddler. I had never heard of Livewire, but watching the episode (this a few months before the recent hype) I did think she was a fun character with some potential. Her name and costume are cool, and in this episode she did have some of the zing of the early 90s Harley.
I need to get my VHS slabbed.

Origin story, in comic books, describing how a character gained their special abilities and/or how they became a superhero or supervillain
It is definitely perceived as his origin, but the story does not accomplish this. It focuses on what happens on his planet and ends with him flying off, probably to meet up with Hulk.
I have no interest in arguing semantics with you. Have a nice day.
It's not really semantics. The story doesn't tell why or how he became Rocket Raccoon. I agree that this is the perceived origin.
It's kind of like saying that it's Constantine in Swamp Thing #25. The writers have said that it was supposed to be Sting, but the perception is that it's a cameo of Constantine.

Annihilators 3 is most definitely an origin book.
Batman Annual 1 is largely valued because of the new take on Freeze's origin. Plenty of first appearances in the new 52 don't command close to the dollar price that book does. Look at Bane for example with Dark Knight #6.
Origin of what?

How about X-Force 37 first origin of Apocolypse? With Rise of Apocolypse selling well, this may be overlooked.
Quick, name five Copper or Modern origin books that have risen in value...
Annhilators 3
Batman Adventures Mad Love
Suicide Squad 7
Hellboy Seed of Destruction
Batman Annual 1
Annhilators 3 <--Not actually an Origin book
Batman Adventures Mad Love <-- OK
Suicide Squad 7 <-- this was the only one I could think of when I typed the question
Hellboy Seed of Destruction <-- I'll take your word for it, don't know much about Hellboy
Batman Annual 1 <-- New 52? This is the first Mr. Freeze, that's why it's popular

Here's what I don't understand. Why would you spend $100 for a NM copy of Livewire's first appearance when you can get a low grade copy of BA12 for about the same price?
Seems like the greater fool theory at work.
You seriously collect low-grade copies?
You seriously "collect" comics?

There are a lot of better investments you could get for $100.

Good luck finding that All-Star first appearance. Rarity counts for some of the hype, if any really exists. Apparently intro into the new 52 is reason enough. That's fine just odd. If I am collecting anything from the clusterfk that is the new 52 it's Batman issues and first appearances that I dig like Cullen Row, Strix, Vyndktvx, John Diggle, Aunt Eunice and Volthoom while hoping for the new 52 debut of Snowflame.
I don't think anyone said that All-Star would be introduced, just that they are going to introduce more women so now people are scrambling. They may all be new characters, like Jessica Cruz. (who you say? yup)
What is the source for this? Where did DC say they were going to introduce more women?
One of the main reasons for the launch of the New 52 was to introduce more diversity.

First graded 9.8 TWD #127 has hit the bay. It looks like it has the corner split. Is an SS too and a doozy of a price for a normal cover that's a month old.

Like I said, if you can't back up the book you're pimping then you're just trying to push a turd sandwich on the market. The books Whetteon posted are all established books some of which are also tied to recent or upcoming movie properties.
Is there a Livewire movie coming out Kevin? Oh wait she doesn't need a movie, she's the next Harley Quinn!
It's finally been established what we are allowed to classify as worthy books. Only those books that have firmly established characters and/or are appearing in movies. There is no room for any new speculation or market fluctuation on anything otherwise.

these jokes you speak of must be told in the super secret forums because i havent read them. most people toss insults or spew anger when the don't have a counter argument. look, my view may be in the minority but it doesn't mean it's wrong. my desire if for universally accepted definition which i understand will never happen. not all comics preview a character at the end of a comic so if im collecting livewire i would want to own that comic, especially in the case as the art differs from the cover to issue 5. sounds like im helping collectors here not confusing them. dont let the amount of posts i have trick you, ive been collecting comics for close to 30 years. im not always right but i dont have an agenda either. i dont own any copies of sup adv 4 or 5
Oh, and btw, it's the same art.
I believe the saying is "...one born every day"?

I feel that X-Men 248 first Jim Lee needs to be added to this list, he is DC's main man now and let's face it this issue is where it all started. One of the best artists if not the best in the last 25 years and this issue should be in everyone's collection.
I would think that book would have to be an SS books to sell well. You can still find some core X-men collectors that want a 9.8, but an SS would do very well.
Raw it just isn't in demand a whole lot anymore looks like it pulls around $8 in NM.
...even less than that, I'm afraid.
Peace,
Chip
Looks like $9.57 to me.

But there is no legitimate reason for it and these books shouldn't be this high
What WOULD be a legitimate reason?

Malibu Sun #13 has a few things going for it (in no order of importance):
1. The size closely resembles a comic book.
2. It has practically the same cover as Spawn #1, but the eyes are red (think "prototype design").
3. It says "SPAWN" on the front cover.
4. The back cover features Spawn.
5. It's much scarcer than the tons of Spawn #1's floating around.
All of these things combine to make that book desirable to own (I do not own one). Is it a first appearance? Not in story, but it's hard to ignore the same cover art...
It's pretty common that the cover art is released before the book. If we are using that as a judge for 1st appearance, I see why this conversation is still going on.

All Justice League Adventures 13 FS on ebay are now sold.
So who is All Star and why should I care?
Seriously, didn't even pull this title out of the longboxes, never mind #13.
At first I was skeptical but Justice League 13 could be this weekend's hot comic. I forgot all about New Guardians 2. It seems do do well and I can't remember that cocaine villain appearing anywhere else.
Snowflame does cocaine to get his power. Are we really confused why that issue became sought after? All Star, well I don't know what she does but I would guess she is good at some sport.

Is that a Four Loko.....with the caffiene!

There are 2 X-men #130's in 9.6 on Clink for a lot less than that.
It's a 9.8, he just mistyped.

I got the book today and the bottom is simply a mis-wrap. I was worried that it was a rusty staple as well, but it's the ad on the back of the book wrapping over onto the front cover. Production error. Whew.
I have had about 6 of these and at least half had a bad wrap on them. Seems common with this book.

The only problems I have with All-Star are her name, costume and lack of appearances. At least Livewire has been in more that one comic.
Bingo!
Hard to compare her anywhere close to even Livewire when she only has one lonely appearance.
Overlooked and Potentially Undervalued Long/Mid-Term

I thought it was his origin until someone else brought it up. Then I reread it. Time to move on? Am I going to ruin your "investment" if the truth gets out?
