GPA shows a CGC 9.4 TMNT #1 first printing recorded sold at $46,500 on July 26 - a new record for the grade (unsigned).

ComicConnect also mentions the sale in their current auction for a CGC 9.6, but I don't know if they sold the 9.4.

Here the 9.4 that sold June 24, 2021. $58,555, but signed inside.

Also did y'all see this? Currently on ComicConnect listed at $250,000 and what looks like an offer of $220,000 declined.

It seems prior to today going quite strong the past couple of years.  A CGC 9.6 sold 40 days ago on eBay for 10,000

Agree.  The book has been going strong.

I am not sure if it was the rumors of the animation series. I think it has more to do with all the publicity of Usagi moving over to IDW along with the massive run up in TMNT books as there is a lot of crossover between TMNT fans and Usagi fans.  The print run of 2,000 and the black cover mean there likely are not many copies in 9.8 out in the wild.

I bought the 9.8 today and I was really hoping that it would go for quite a bit less than $31,000 like it did in its last CGC 9.8 sale.  I thought there was a chance of this happening between Covid-19, my personal opinion that the $31,000 price was too strong, and there being a CGC 9.6 copy in the same auction as well.  I was very happy that the previous copy sold for 36% more than what I paid for this copy.

Anyways I am now 1/3 of the way to becoming a member of the club.  Although I doubt I will ever gain membership as while TMNT is neat I don't see myself spending money on acquiring a 1st print and Cerebus was a great read but I only ever read the phone books, I never bought any individual issues other than "0" which I don't think was in the phonebooks.

  3. Hi Bree,

Thanks for this answer - I was actually going to ask this as well. In what cases would an interior signature be given a "qualified" grade? Or should we just expect in the future that a signature on the interior page would be given the universal label with the notation?

    Thank you

    R

  4. Hi all,

Came across this Amazing Spider-Man 300, which is signed on the inside page by Todd McFarlane. The owner said that he purchased this through the mail from McFarlane's store at the time of release in the late 80's.

So my question is, if I send this to CGC, will it be eligible for the universal grade with a notation of a signature/writing on the inside cover? Or will it get a qualified grade?

I understand the "other guys" will verify it, but I don't think that's necessary since it's on the inside and not the outside. My preference would be the universal.

Any advice you can offer is appreciated.

    Thanks

  5. Made a big trade/cash deal with Dave and everything was fantastic. Dave kept me in the loop throughout and we communicated all the way until we had all the books. Thanks again Dave, hope we can make another big transaction!

  6. Hi all,

I live in Canada and would like to know what the best shipping method for higher end books between Canada and the USA. Sadly, I have received books from the USA through FedEx and UPS and have had to pay a brokerage fee in addition to applicable taxes, often close to about $50-100 for something with a declared value of $500. If it is being shipped via ground courier, it's often higher, but less if it's sent express. Do you in the USA have to pay these brokerage fees when you receive books from Canada?

There is also a shipping service here that ships using US services, but the value limit is less than $800.

    Thanks
