No one ghosted for Kirby. He had assistants that “helped” him out on commissions. As Mark Evanier said “that later on when he was ailing, Kirby had people who “helped him out a little on commissions — Jack actually had less assistants than anybody else who produced that much work — but nobody was ghosting for him.”

These so called “experts” also have huge egos and they expect people believe their opinions likes facts. Opinions are opinions and opinions can be wrong.

McFarlane and Capullo each worked on both pencils and inks I got the Spawn 26 cover straight from Greg. Not sure where they got that McFarlane worked pencils on the piece with Greg. This piece is like the others - Greg’s full pencils with McFarlane inks. I hope it didn’t go for 19k because of that reason.

Yeah - wouldn’t buy any of those. None of them look like Jack Kirby pieces 🤔

Hey listen you keep bringing this back to money. I don’t care Jack had help on this piece and many others who don’t mind. How many Jack Kirby Silver Surfer pencils with Dr doom do you know that exist? I am guessing not many. I know of one and he turned 100k down. Its a great piece to own and looks amazing on the wall. If you care kirby had help on it then that’s your preference

I wouldn’t get lost in the % numbers. Mark was nice enough to provide an idea that it’s majority Jack Kirby. You can jus translate that into “he had some help”.

Well I am only talking about the final image a person would see - so not apples and oranges . You see 70% kirby in SS piece and you would see a similar percentage in a final cover. Here maybe some people are only okay seeing a final product - maybe you’ll like this better

Yeah those Sotheby’s pieces can be suspicious because they are so mechanical - no life in them. So hard to tell with those recreations. The Silver Surfer pencils here were done way before that time and actually used to hang in Jack Kirbys home. So not to be confused with the different times and pieces.

Yes! - I spoke to and showed this piece to Mark Evanier (for you who don’t know him - long time friend and historian of Jack Kirby) And he said he remembered Jack working on this exact piece and it was when his health was ailing him and he had help with it. He said it’s around 70% by Jack. It really just confirms the last article written on this piece on the Kirby Museum website. And BTW that write up done by HA was done at the request of the consignor at that time. Rb
