    Amazing Spider-man #176 VGish -- asking $4 + shipping

Great book, nice and cheap, wear to front cover is the worst of it.

Looks better, but some bending to right edge and a corner. Bends would press, but the more noteworthy defect is a small chip out of the right edge right below the N in the title.

Light spine wear, crease to lower right corner, bending with ever so slight color breaks to upper right corner. Still not a bad looking book for the price.

Looks better, but two long creases on cover.

And :takeit: this as well, if I met the free threshold.

Edit: Dammit, top of page again, sorry :S

Looks better, but light corner and edge wear to the covers (which would press better) along with a 1" diameter moisture spot to the gloss on the back cover explain the grade.

Probably the last book of the night for this thread...

    Amazing Spider-man #118 F/F+ -- asking $18 + shipping

Solid copy with light wear along spine, some light edge wear, a few spots in the gloss on back cover that could be light moisture (pages unaffected). Book has been pressed.

Similar tune as a couple of other copies from this bunch, looks good at arm's length, but a fair bit of non-color breaking (or slightly color breaking) bending on the front cover. If it were this alone a press would do wonders, even with the spine wear. At the top of the back cover there is a 1.5" half circle of moisture that only affects the gloss and doesn't appear to have stained the back cover or any interior pages. Still a great looking book for the grade.

Nice glossy and colorful copy. Light spine wear, but the main issue is some light bending with a tiny bit of color loss at the lower right corner. 95% of it would press out, but there may be at least a bit of creasing that would remain. Still a very sharp copy for the price.

Structurally the book is quite nice, the reading crease near the spine is the worst of it. But there is a bit of ink transfer on the title and back cover.

    Amazing Spider-man #103 VGish -- asking $10 + shipping

Structurally it is a solid copy, but wear at the bottom spine and plenty of ink transfer detract a bit. 4-5 interior pages have some extra ink smears that appear to be production related, these are a minor annoyance but do not prevent readability.

    Amazing Spider-man #107 VG++++ -- asking $13 + shipping

I know, it is a strange grade, but this is one of those books that looks better than a VG but I can't quite go Fine with the accumulation of stuff. The obvious is the light cover wear, scuffing along the spine, and ink transfer and light staining to back cover. There is also a touch of something stuck to the back cover (a short line in the name field of the coupon), not bad but I don't want to scrape at it. The less obvious is the light moisture stain at the top of the back cover that is visible inside both covers (doesn't show externally on front). Pages appear unaffected, and have great page quality. Color and gloss are very nice, giving strong eye appeal for the assigned grade. If you're looking for eye appeal at a discount this is your book.

Front cover looks good, well centered, great gloss, but back cover is the problem. Staining with a bit of material still adhering. Priced accordingly, and looks great in the bag.

Another solid VG, everything well attached at both staples and decent PQ. Small moisture stain at bottom of pages that slightly affects covers and does not affect any art.

  8. So, had someone take some stuff from my house, including a copy of ASM 129 I had, pretty much the jewel of my collection.  I purchased the book on eBay in November, so it was tracked by GPA.  I have an account, but current don't have much use for a subscription again, except to get the number on the book.  Was really hoping that someone with an account would be nice enough to get me the CGC number on the book for the police report.  The issue is the 5.5 that sold in November 2016 for $415 with a B1 next to it.

I will be getting a subscription again, just can't really buy comics right now, so don't have to much need for it currently.  I was hoping that you could look at your collection when logged in without a subscription, but you can't (that is the only comic in my collection :( )  The eBay purchase history picture is too small to make the serial out on and the other pics have been deleted.

I appreciate any help that anyone could give.  Also welcome all th criticism for not cataloging my collection better :)

  10. @ jsilver: Know I'm still new here, so my opinion might not fit the norm for the board, but in this situation I would consider a partial refund generous. Refund of the whole purchase or no refund seems like the 'fair' choices.

If the restoration was noticed on receipt and he asked for a refund of the book, or a partial refund, then I would side to him.

Waiting until all the books come back seems like a low risk high reward way to buy books. Buying raw is cheaper since it does carry more risk, but also has a chance for better deals. One of the risks is that a book will have restoration that is unnoticeable.

If you really want to offer a partial refund, $20 seems reasonable to me.

@highradart : I personally wouldn't expect any kind of refund to come from you. It is sad that the book is restored, but, like you said, it has changed hands since and been graded. A partial from you doesn't seem fair at all, unless you are trying to get a partial from the person you bought it from as well ;p

  11. 1. Luckily I don't have a WTB thread, so don't commit this one really. Have responded to all PM's in response to my Sig. :headbang:

    2. Really bad at this. A lot of it is that on my phone it is such a pain to type that I don't finish and forget. Really sorry for doing this and plan to get better. :sorry:

    5. Thought this was common practice here, hard to tell to a NEWB :P

    8. ~jsilverjanet Are you telling me to get my scissors ready for the books I bought from you on eBay?

  12.

As a newer member I still have a hard time remembering to double check the lists, other communities I am a part if are pretty good about banning people that are 'problems', or labeling them with tags stating they are suspended from making transactions while on 'PL' lists.

I don't know how well it would be to have one person being "responsible" for it, would be nice to have the first person that notices post the statement, just to make sure it is known as soon as possible after the thread starts.

Another idea might be to have the party nominating them, or the person adding them to the list posting it in the offenders Kudos thread. It would likely be the last post in the thread, so will likely be seen when checked, even if by newer members. It could be removed if warranted, emergencies shouldn't be permanently marked, but would be nice to have all that history in one place.

  13. Really great transaction from Designer Toast's ECCC Aftermath thread. Both books arrived in the same condition they were described as and were shipped very quickly.

Also would like to mention that he was willing to hold before shipping, allowing me to complete my move, and shipped as soon as I gave him an address. His books actually arrived as I was inspecting for move in, so very timely shipping.

Thanks and look forward to your next Convention sale or other sales thread.

  14. What do you guys think about the concept of a seller stating a set price for books and I'll take it governs but if all the books don't sell by the time the thread closes (time is indeterminate) then all sales are canceled (assume no money changes hands until after the thread concludes) is this within the rules and goals of the sales thread?

Who would buy anything in a sale like this. Not me, that's for sure. Whatever isn't selling in my threads gets discounted, or put back in the boxes. Did someone on here run a thread like this or what?

Is this in reference to that Mystery Box thread?

That is getting run more like a type of event that was discussed awhile ago. He has some decent books it looks like, with the one 'jackpot' book. Not my type of deal, almost like a lottery, but I understand why people would buy them.

My response was more in regards to if the items were listed. With mystery boxes Im not planning on getting anything specific, so I won't let other good deals pass me by.

  15. I don't know of it is within the rules and the goals of the sales thread, but it seems like a way to upset a few potential customers. Would hate to think that I'll be getting a book then an indeterminate amount of time later the seller backs out, or doesn't sell everything and so doesn't sell anything.

If you were undercutting everybody and everywhere else and the deals were to good to pass up you would sell everything. So maybe if that is the intention you will make it work.
