Personal Information

  1. I came with a list, and found key issues I had been looking for I was able to attend my second con, this past sunday in Tampa and came away realizing that as long as I am organized, I can purchase may key issues in a short time of time at decent prices. Although, I do like perusing the boards, scouring ebay, and visiting my LCSs, I definitely plan on holding on bigger purchases for key issues when the next scheduled con would be, for me that would be Nov 16th. I was able to grab the following this past saturday: New mutants 98 Detective Comics #1 (New 52) X factor 24 Spawn 1 Venom 1 All Star Comics 58 Amazing Spiderman 316 Amazing Spiderman 365 Since collecting in May of this year (2014), I have spent over 700 on comics. I even have a full half box already. As a novice in collecting comics, I have learned quickly to be smarter with what I intend on buying. I should buy what I want, not what I think I want. I also find myself organizing my comics in a myriad of ways, because it's cathartic and fun. I will do that again tonight! To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. 2. want to know where ideal places would be to purchase key issues In my infancy stage of comic book collecting, I try to refrain from grabbing anything I can get my hands on. I used to collect comics when I was in jr high school and Wolverine was my main guy and he still in. I have not make it one of my quests to seek out the Hulk #181. I have perused ebay and craigslist, been out bidded on comiclink, and did not see any Hulk 181s on my quest to find one within my price range. I will be attending another convention in early august, as it is a 3 day event. But I would love some suggestions as to what would be the ideal route to find a Hulk 181 at a fair price. 3. a list of what I purchased Here are the items purchased at my first toy/comic convention: God is Dead #1 = $5 East West #1 (signed by one of the artists) = $10 East West 3,4 = $4 a piece Amazing Spiderman #13 = $2 Amazing Spiderman 361 + The Dark Knight Returns (1&2) = $150 (guy was asking for $50 for ASM 361, $75 for TDKR 1, and $40 for TDKR 2) Moon Knight (2014) #1 = $4 One thing I definitely learned was that it is best to bring cash and not use your card there. Just curious what you guys thought about what I paid for my items. To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.
  4. my small collection as of 6/12/14 Hi guys, just figured I would just provide an update on what I have purchased so far: Southern Bastards 1,2 (recommendation by a comic collector I met in the store) Moon Knight 2014 #2 (so I will be on the look out for #1 and #3) Moon Knight MARK SPECTOR #1 Uncanny X-men 282 and 283 (for #25 - is that an ok deal?) Spiderman #1 (mcfarlane cover) To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.
  5. I'm new to the collector society, but not new to collecting I am blessed with a job that allows me to work from home. Ever since I have held this position, my down time at home has lead me to countless hours surfing the web, which eventually led me to toy collecting. Since I only collect specific lines, I.e masterpiece transformers, the hunt is limited which has me devote my interests towards another addicting hobby, comic book collecting. I ran into a guy at the comic book store last weekend, whom I met a few months before at a toys r us, and he introduced me to the collector's society as a reliable place to search for specific issues. I look forward to possibly purchasing from some of you To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.
