  1. Thanks for the "takes" I followed the auction closely because there was so much top notch material for the market to absorb, I hoped there might be a bargain or two among the lowly paperback cover art. There wasn't. Reefer Girl didn't surprise me, that is the most I've ever seen for a sleaze paperback cover OA. The study for it sold for 20K years ago so this was in the range where I expected it to be. Quite a few of the pb covers went far beyond estimates, the Raders and a couple of lesbian themed doing particularly well. Maybe it's time to sell my undercopy of "Reefer Girl"
  2. Number 6 is Number 1 in my book. Gorgeous book arrived today, everything pretty. Thanks so much. I started reading it again, of course, and am hooked.
  3. Well, I can't top that one tonight and I have some things to get ready for tomorrow so I need to clip that jay here and will resume tomorrow after work. Thanks
  4. Nude On Thin Ice by Gil Brewer Avon T-470 Paperback original, first print 1960 $70 FIRM Great bargain copy. Brewer was one of the best noir writers and this is considered one of his best PBO's. Combined with an ultra-classic cover, it's no wonder this one is usually listed in 3 figures. Pretty, glossy copy. Slight spine slant, a few light bends, small chip on back.
  5. Somewhere in this House by Rufus King Popular Library No. 276 1950 $25 Another nice "Killer" Belarski cover, switchblade this time. Tight and glossy. Has slight slant, a very faint reader crease and very light wear. A gorgeous cover
  6. While Murder Waits by John Esteven Popular Library No. 343 1951 $25 Real nice copy of a "Killer" Belarski cover Square, tight and glossy with a faint reader crease and a little indent to back spine area.
  7. The Shrinking Man by Richard Matheson, Gold Medal S577 1956 $40 True First Edition of this noted horror novel. Classic cover art by Mitchell Hooks Even more widely known for the movie which came out a year after the book. The film’s title was changed to "The Incredible Shrinking Man" A nice copy overall. Glossy and fresh.. Has slight slant, fairly light reader crease, otherwise light bends and edgewear.

  9. Lest We Forget Thee, Earth / People Minus X by Raymond Z. Gallun and Calvin M. Knox Ace Double #D-291 1958 $12 Sweet Ed Valigursky Good Girl in suspended animation cover. The Ed Emsh on the other side is great too. Nice Fine Plus/VF minus copy with hairline reader crease, tiny corner chip, very light overall edgewear
  10. Perelandra by C.S. Lewis Avon No. 277 1950 $55 Super looking high grade copy of one of the great classic Avon Sci-Fi books. Well worth a premium. VF or better. Unread, square and ultra glossy with near perfect lamination. Tiny spot of wear at the top right and rear left corners.
  11. Luana. Movie Novelization by Alan Dean Foster Ballantine 23793 February 1974 $35 Classic Cave Girl cover art by Frank Frazetta A superb unread copy with great gloss, minimal surface wear, a couple light marks and bits of color.
  12. No Time Like the Future by Nelson Bond Avon T-80 1954 $12 True 1st edition of this colllection with a nice Richard Powers cover. A cool later Avon science fiction title by an underrated writer. Fine/Fine plus. Appears unread, with great color and gloss, no reader crease, just a little crunch to the corner, storage wear around the edges.
  13. Stranger In A Strange Land by Robert A. Heinlein Avon V-2056 5th Print Print January 1966 $15 Neil Boyle cover art. 1st paperback edition, 5th printing, still with the original cover art. The 1962 Hugo award winner, Heinlein's most famous novel. Perfect reader if you want vintage but don't want kill an expensive 1st print. Fine minus. Solid tight binding. Nice colors. Reader crease, light creasing. Light edgewear. Great page quality. All these early thick printings are usually found creased and torn.
  14. The Man With Nine Lives/A Touch Of Infinity, Ace Double D-413 $18 Two true 1st Editions by Harlan Ellison. Ed Emsh and Ed Valigursky cover art A pretty nice copy overall. Tight and glossy, bright colors. Slight spine twist and uneveness. Faint creasing on "Infinity" side, touch of general wear, couple ink chips.
  15. Going to get started in a few. There's a bit of a mix in front of me... some Science Fiction, some Girls, even some Science Fiction with Girls
  16. Finally bagged a nice copy of the 1st Edition (PBO) of "Reefer Club" by Luke Roberts. Uni-Books No. 49, 1953 with the iconic Warren King cover. One of the toughest of the US drug books, it's compounded by being a "Uni-corn" with any kind of complete cover due to the paper thin covers. It has a nice chip off the back but still the nicest looking copy I've seen for sale in 7 years of looking. This completes the USA "Reefer Trifecta", along with "Reefer Girl" and the 2nd (Canadian actually) Edition under the Stallion imprint, re-using the censored version of the cover from "Basement Gang"
  17. They are definitely better for the most part than the cover art on the Black Lizards from the first revival in the '80's, although I will always be grateful for their efforts. I still read Black Lizards today, although I always prefer reading an original vintage paperback.
  18. Lots of excellent covers there. "Fright" is the king of the hill in that group as far as value/desireability imho. Looks like a real nice copy too
  19. Took a minute and cleaned up the thread, updated the Recap. Good to go. There's some high grade beauties and a couple of true classics still left there for perusal I'll be listing some more tomorrow.
  20. Ok, thanks all for visiting. I'm going to break for tonight. I have relatives over tomorrow so will resume on Wednesday evening if my time is clear
  21. Set of six Very Fine Pocket Book Science fiction titles with full silver spines $90 SOLD to Goldust40 I want to keep this set together as they came from the collection I bought - because of their uniform high gloss and near perfect silver spines, which are so prone to rubbing. Great cover art by Meltzoff, Bergey and Schulz among others. All flat glossy and unread looking. War of the Worlds has a small mark on the cover. More pictures available on request but rest assured, these look and feel like they walked out of a time capsule.
  22. Interview With The Vampire by Anne Rice Ballantine Books 28126 4th Printing December 1979 $45 Rare later printing with the amazing Gothic cover by Tom Hall. The only printing out of dozens to feature cover art rather than graphics. Square and tight with a reader crease, edgewear and crackling of the gloss finish.
  23. Donovan's Brain by Curt Siodmak Bantam Books #819 1st mass paperback edition, 1st Printing 1950 $40 "Living Brain" cover by Herman Bischoff. Doesn't get much cooler than this Very square and glossy. Has some spine stress and edgewear but a nice looking copy overall.
