  1. Dayum! This is incredible. helluva job inking the Maestro's work, Scott!
  2. Chaykin Star Wars pages are next to impossible to find, and if you do, good luck. The collectors who go after them have deep pockets
  3. Was way out of my league on most lots I was eyeing, and came up short on a couple of Byrne FF pages. But, I did nab the Ghost Rider #20 cover by Wagner. Actually surprised I got it for less than 10k consider the current market insanity.
  4. I knew the Larsen ASM splash would go big, but $50K is ...WOW.
  5. I thought $10K would get that page -- WAY OFF! my goodness the prices in this auction are bonkers
  6. congratulations on a GREAT pickup! I was watching it to see where it landed, not because I had a chance in hell of getting it. Such a great splash!
  7. We had a huge amount of sushi on the kitchen island, and at one point, while everyone was ogling the X-Men covers, I grabbed a Cockrum X-Men DPS from the able that was inches away from spilled soy sauce, hahaha (not all heroes wear capes)
  8. I may be wrong, but I think it was used for a fairly recent variant.
  9. I came up short on the two pieces I went after, the Sal Cap end page splash and the page from X-Men #110. Prices seemed strong across the board. The big shocker to me was the Bagley #361 "cover" selling for $62,000. It's not even the published cover for that issue! I know it was released years later as a variant, but still. That just seems nuts to me. Mike
  10. Does anyone have contact info for Keith Pollard or know if he has a rep? If anyone could connect me or point me to the right person, I'd appreciate it. Thanks! mike
  11. Most 80s DC original art is way undervalued
  12. bumping this to see if any collectors have come across this or know who owns this.
  13. This article falls short, way short, due to the fact the writer used one dealer as the source for his story. That's just...lazy. Sal reps two big time superstars, but to truly get a proper gauge of the market, why not talk to art dealers who sell a variety of OA to get a better sense of the strength of the market? Missed opportunity to properly assess the current market.
  14. Man, this was incredibly easy to do. Thanks for running this. It's so great to see all the amazing art people have purchased the past year. My entries are here: https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerybestofyr.asp?yr=2020&gcat=2070
  15. Thanks for the heads up, Brian. I just added some of my 2020 pickups. They will no doubt pale in comparison to some of the insane art some of the big-shot collectors have scored this year, but they make me happy, so I'd like to share the joy! https://www.comicartfans.com/galleryroom.asp?gsub=212703 Happy New Year!
  16. Some specific collecting goals for 2021: * a Ross Andru Amazing Spidey page w/MJ * an Aparo Aquaman splash * another Hostess ad * an Avengers page featuring Wonder Man * a nice Hawkman splash (silver or Bronze Age) Happy New Year, folks!
  17. Looks like he's just doing something nice for essential workers, not branding.
  18. Appears to be a cel from the Challenge of the Super Friends, circa 1978...
  19. This has been the subject of quite a few threads in an OA Facebook group. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I side with Liefeld on this. If it comes out of a printer, then it's not true original art. Which means I have no interest in it. I like the traditional pencil+ink style, and that's what I like to spend my $$ on. BUT, I can certainly see the appeal of mono prints for collectors of newer artists who, as a group, seem to be working more digitally. If you like a certain artist, like Pepe Larraz (whose work I enjoy as well), then a print is the only way you're going to own some of his work. I get that. I also get that newer collectors must have sticker shock when they first enter the OA collecting world, and these specialty mono prints offer a more affordable entry point into the hobby. I'm really curious to see how the secondary market for items like this develops. I haven't paid close attention to any auctions on Clink or Heritage -- have these started to show up there? Also, I wonder if the reps for some of these digital artists will encourage them to do some pages in the 'old school' style (or at least covers) so they don't leave as much $$ on the table. Just my two cents...
  20. I don't know the Miller Daredevil art market well. Is this price on the high end for a Miller DD cover?
  21. Another killer page! putting together a Byrne/Austin X-Men book is quite the 'Life Goal,' and I wish you luck! BTW, those Romita Droid covers are fantastic!
  22. I found CAL #2 much more enjoyable. Tons of great art to consider. I also purchased a nice 80s cover that was well above $2K. I hate posting art that isn't in my actual possession, so I'll wait until it arrives to share. But as far as online Cons go, I found this one to be a blast. Thanks for setting this up, Bill.
