  1. Well my first eagle has landed. My first submission to CGC. I dropped this off at WonderCon on 3/29 and got it today. Quicker than I expected. Came back a little better than I expected. I had it at 7.0 so I guess my grading skills aren’t too bad. This slab is THICK! I will have to add on to the comic room if I keep doing this. Now, I wait for my two “value” submissions…
  2. Flea market painting find. Not actual production art but a very nice amateur effort.
  3. Scored these today in a trade with a local guy. Blinding colors! Don’t have time to go through my FH Jungle and Jumbo comics but these covers seem real familiar. Possible swipes? I have a handful of very high grade Jungle pulps. Due to their traditional low values, now might be a good time to have some of them graded.
  4. No biggie, that’s what pressing is for. Seen one Action 1 you seen ‘em all…
  5. The Chicago Toy Show is one of the best shows of its kind in the US. Or at least it used to be. I haven’t been in maybe 8 years. Lots of amazing eye candy. And I have even found old comics there.
  6. Is that a bound volume? Some great overlooked digest covers there.
  7. Nice! I would have happily kept it even incomplete. It’s all about the cover and one I am very unlikely to obtain anymore.
  8. Thanks Andy. I got through and was able to see the graders notes but there is no scan. Maybe they haven’t posted it yet? Or maybe I have to pay extra for it? I did check the census page and my copy is not listed yet. I’m a GA collector. One thing I have learned is patience…
  9. I remember buying that Flash off the rack at the drug store. But by that time I was a Marvel Zombie.
  10. Hit a couple of unopened F case boxes yesterday. Got a couple Treasure Hunt Mustangs and this beautiful ‘71 El Camino purple Super! A whole lotta fun for a few bucks.
  11. Without reading all 7 pages, I would just say No, period. A seller has every right no matter what their reasons are, to ask what ever they want. A buyer has every right to say no. Try taking an old comic into a 7-11 and offer to trade it for a carton of milk. Ultimately, that will determine it’s true value…
  12. Here’s mine. I got it a LONG time ago. I bought it because 1.) It was a Giant, 2.) It was a Crime book, 3.) It had a purty dame on the cover and 4.) It was probably cheap. In the days that if it wasn’t a GA Timely, DC, an EC or a Barks book, it had very little interest. In those days, $50-75. bought a large stack of interesting books. Nobody knew who Matt Baker was. Just dumb luck I guess.
  13. Cool! Never have owned the binders or pencil cases.
  14. Yes. My Mr Gasser is a factory sealed bottom box. I hope he’s in there…
  15. Yes, 2 separate albums. I photographed both sides..
  16. Just read that my single high value pulp has been shipped. Grade is about what I expected. Can’t wait to see it… The lower value ones are still in grading. Will post when they arrive. Is it possible to see the CGC scan?
  17. A great Woody cover! I got mine MANY years ago on my honeymoon. Was in San Francisco and just bumped into it in a used book store. Still have it.
  18. Love those especially in black. I wonder what they were supposed to be used for? Mine is only a few inches thick. I assume there are 4 in the set. I’ve had mine like forever and haven’t seen another other than these.
  19. Great score Beau! Reminds me of all the “love books” I left in dollar boxes under the tables in the early ‘70’s. I was grabbing as many PCH books from those boxes instead…
  20. Amazing what eventually happed to Bob Wood. One of so many strange stories in the history of comics creators…
  21. Adam is probably the best seller on EBay. He gets some astounding results. And not every collector goes the big auction house buying route. The perception is you might have a better chance of getting “lucky” on the Bay.
  22. Picked this up at the flea market yesterday. It is a free monthly magazine with the goings on in the local antique world. Also auction results nationally on a variety of antiques. The cover just screamed out at me. I just had to know. Interesting article but what was of biggest interest to me was the full page article on PCH books. I have never heard of this collector or this auction house. Apparently, this auction happened beginning of Jan. Frankly, I never like seeing articles like this in the hands of “civilians”. Gives everyone the wrong idea. Sure makes it tougher on us flea market scroungers… Anybody here ever visit this library? Looks like the Sistine Chapel of comics.
