  1. Beautiful cover that hits a nostalgic sweet spot for me. I agree it went higher than expected. I love these full detailed background covers from the 70s/80s.
  2. Man I missed out on the SM 259 piece when it was around $60,000. Now it's $315,000. Hmmm, well he does have a nice Larry Lieber Spider-man strip for only $78,000.
  3. Hmm, not sure any of these reserves will hit. I would think if a consigner insists on a reserve, the auction house should make it a low end # to ensure it sells. Not some pie-in-the-sky # with the hope someone out there trips it. Though I guess in this crazy market maybe they all hit anyway.
  4. I'm a bit on the fence for the G.I. Joe Skystriker. It's pretty nice, but doesn't blow me away. I would have preferred the Haslab project be a new/updated Joe Headquarters based on the original. I don't pick up many new toys anymore, but that would be a must have.
  5. Seriously, I haven't had a chance to watch the whole show yet, but it's been very interesting and we'll done so far. Love this book, and it's great to see how it was acquired and learn additional info about it.
  6. Wow, incredible pickup. Remembering what your interests are in reading previous posts of yours over the years, I guessed what it was you picked up before clicking the link. Glad you were able to have a second chance to pick up an important piece to you. This is definitely one of the more memorable covers from the run.
  7. You are right, it did end at $6,600. I think maybe the next bid would have taken it over $6,900 which I would have been unwilling to do. You are also right that this Springer page wasn't easy on eyes eyes, but it did have great content, and was a very memorable issue. I was looking at it through my 12 year old self eyes and would have loved to have gotten it.
  8. ... for a talking heads panel page maybe. Battle page? 2nd mortgage territory.
  9. Spectacular Spider-man #82 Milgrom panel page for $13,200? Yes, it has a couple small images of Black Cat, but really ?? Thought I had a chance at a nice G.I. Joe page, but I couldn't justify bidding more than the $6,900 that won it. I few years ago I thought I was slowly progressing toward the deeper end of the pool only to find myself back in the kiddie pool with my arm floaties on.
  10. G.I. Joe #5 cover for around $28,000. Wish I could have taken a run at it, but i knew it would go out of my price range.. Big nostalgia for me with that early Joe run.
  11. Pretty hefty price for a later in the run cover. I believe maybe 8-9 years ago a Donnelly Bro won it on eBay for around $7,000 ish. I think they sold it since then, so I don't believe they consigned it.
  12. Knowing what we know about the issues with collecting MOC Joes, I've been really surprised at the increasing AFA prices the last couple years.
  13. Glad you pointed this out or I would have missed it in the picture. As a Doctor Who fan, that is a really cool piece of memorabilia.
  14. Tough choice between the Spidey 18 or 34 pages as both are fantastic. But I like panels 1 & 5 on the 18 page better than any single panel on the 34. So, I go 18 by a hair.
  15. I agree. It was certainly a strong price for the Ditko Spidey, but that was a GREAT panel page for sure.
  16. Funny, I had the exact same thought zhamlau when I saw the thread title. I remember on Comicartlive a few months back there was a brief discussion about the desire for a Midwest show. Hoping it can come to fruition.
  17. Several J. Scott Campbell covers over $22,000. Those "posing superheroine" covers he pumps out are like printing money.
  18. The G.I. Joe #3 cover is on CAF. If memory serves, I remember seeing it on Bechara's wall at a convention maybe 10 years ago with a sticker price of around $20,000. Wonder what it's worth now.
  19. In the early 80s it seemed everyone in my age group at my school was into G.I Joe. Cartoons, Comics, toys, all of it. I don't know if the cartoon really holds up well today, but the comics and toys have a big nostalgia factor for many.
  20. I agree these have great stories and are two of the best drawn issues in the run. The artwork in 21 is especially phenomenal.
  21. Actually I never did get any bids in. I was tracking with the intent to bid near the end, but bids got too high for me to even participate.
  22. I had my childhood copy of this book available. It looks like this page was the 1st Roadblock and Duke appearance and they were not on any prior pages in the book. They introduce themselves to the rest of the Joes on pages that follow. I was tracking the OA for this page, and thought I had a shot at $3,000 or so. Shocked it went for over $12,000 even with the 1st appearances. Great page though.
  23. I was recently at the Chicago exhibit. Highly recommended as it is really well done. Fans of the movies, history of Marvel, and of OA should really enjoy. Most of my photos of OA are the same ones posted by Knightsofold and piper. Here are a few I didnt see posted yet:
