  1. I am not being a smart @ss but did you think 181 or any Bronze age was indefinitely going to just keep trending up? You have been on the boards since 2013 so I assume you know how this works and without looking I would guarantee your 5.0 is worth more then it was pre "INSANE" spike. If you were just in it for making the most money imho the book was at a high mark a few months ago, Economic trends are point to a more traditional growth rate for this hobby and most other collectables ( imho the exception maybe being graded video games which are just coming into there own as buyers realize how rare some games are sealed and in high grade ). As to 181, GSXM, ASM 300 etc. we seem to returning to a more stable ( supply/demand) market, that being said I just sold a THOR 245 vf for $100 bucks and that was a good deal for the buyer so the MCU what hot and not THIS WEEK trend seems to be where all the action is these days.
  2. IMHO I think Tec 27 and of course Action #1 ( & due to rarity you could make a case for Supes #1) are just different animals altogether in terms of supply vs demand, do I think a solid complete coverless Cap 1 or Batman 1 would fetch a good price you bet but the historic significance of the big two really set them apart from everything else in our hobby. I am not saying that because I have a 27 I am saying that because I am a comic collector.
  3. THANK YOU! I Could not have said it better! In general I think most board members would agree this is a six figure book ( I think a copy that presents better would be a true contender for 150+) & if I really wanted to move it, based on the most recent TEC 27 sales and even on single page sales ( which are not even that common) those numbers seem to line up as that's the only data I had to go on until I posted this a few days ago.
  4. So Iv had several boardies privately PM me about my offers on the book & initially I was going to keep the evil bay offers private but after thinking about it I don't see what the big deal is if I don't show the ebay IDs The best 2 offers by far were the first day. One was for $115k & the other was 120k both seemed legit and one of the 2 guys came back and actually said he though the asking price was not really out of the ball park with the current market madness. Regardless of the text Iv had several offers asking about some kind of payment plan and asking what's the lowest I would take & would I consider any long term payment plan. Another buyer was sorry but he had to "beg" me to consider some kind of trade & cash deal but never named a price so I don't know if he meant 200k in trade or a lower price and trade? I have had 4 offers between 60-80k. The lowest offer and really rudest guy asked me why I think any comic with no cover would be even close to being worth 200k and he would be willing to do me a favor and would do 20k " with free shipping" He also told me I would be lucky to accept his offer. I also have had several emails telling how cool the book is & wishing me good luck. So after a few days there it is. Now PLEASE before anyone on here tells me I am nuts to not take the 120 offer read my post above. I will be damned if I would sell this book for the price of a 9.8 181 or GSXM ( both books that I love) It's just my personal feeling as I don't want to sell the book at or a bit above FMV ( which seems to be around 100-120k at this point) I think you guys on here get my point. Also I don't need the money I have a very nice Nintendo collection I intend to retire on On a side note below is one of the emails I got and it's just so typical of why after 20 years I really hate selling anything on the site, just way to much BS. "Greetings sir hope your day was great. I sent you a message around 7:20 pm this evening. I hope you received it . I had stated that I had an unexpected financial situation that had to be dealt with immediately , which put me in a disadvantageous position. I really really want this comic. Is it possible that we can negotiate a price ? Please understand first/foremost I am not trying to take advantage of you in any way shape or form. I ,with great humility ,am humbly /sincerely asking for the opportunity so I can purchase this item . Please let me know thanks " Agggggggg I hate these types of emails and buyers!
  5. That would be the plan if I really wanted to move it.
  6. I am the guy with the bad feedback 99.4 after 20yrs (30216) honestly most of the time I am at 99.9 but it's been a hell of year with the USPS and while I deserve 2 of those negatives the others were just ebay BS that I am sure many of us on here can relate to. Now about the book I 100% do not think FMV right now is 200k, but I figure what the hell last week a Nintendo game sold for 1.5M, a Hulk 181 & GSXM are both legit 100k books these days. This is a complete TEC 27......nuff said. I also want to note in the first half hour of the listing I had two serious offers both were above the " lucky to get 100k" number (which lets me know the book is now a legit 6 figure book) Both buyers were also willing to meet at a bank and do a cashiers check ( one buyer represented an investment firm, not sure what that means? but take it for what it is) The truth is I don't want to sell this book, If I really wanted to move the book then it would be on it's way to Heritage & let the chips fall where they will or I would have seriously considered both offers as they were very stand up & to my knowledge would be a record sale for a coverless comic. (it's funny they were both within 5k of each other) But cover or no cover, slight nip on a few pages or not its been my dream book since I was 13 yrs old & I honestly could careless if I die with my Detective 27, its one of only a handful of complete "poor mans copies" that exist in the world today and imho it damn sure is cooler then any 1980s video game. So maybe some people think 200k may be an insane number but it was meant to be a number that I could live with if I let my personal dream book go. ( this is no Hulk 181 or AF15 and once this is gone there is no replacing it). Hope that clears up any speculation or questions. PS I am happy to meet at any Hooters to do the deal

  11. I would love to see Evans in a true WWII movie ( I am thinking Private Ryan/Band of Brothers, I can just see him storming the beach at Normandy ) & NOT battling dumb @ss space age Hydra but just good old fashion Nazi's ( Indy did it just fine) & the movie ending with Cap reenacting the classic Kirby #1 cover and beating the s#it out of Hitler. But the Marvel Movie Universe timeline is all FUBAR. Problem solved..... he could be a timeline variant (thanks Loki). Lets make a movie!
  12. Yea buddy of mine just paid 15,200 for a very nice 7.5 wp with amazing centering with KE signature on inside so the 12k sale was a good buy, not a steal but on the lower end of FMV which on this book is a good deal. I want to point out had I not done so well on the FF #1 I don't think I would have pulled the trigger on the 8.5 for 27k which is on the high end of FMV. Every sale in some way is unique also from what I understand the book has not been pressed and if Eastman does another signing I could end up with a 9.0 again for 27.500ish.......... Damn its a funny hobby huh.
  13. No I added 6k to the 21 I got from the trade/sale. I am keeping the FF & while not a 9.0 signature I came pretty close & it has WP. So I look at it this way...I downgraded my book from a 9.0 to 8.5 & I paid 6k for the FF #1 2.5 & have 3 months to sell other stuff to do the kitchen.....I think I did pretty good on this one.
  14. UPDATE: Just bought this from a fellow boardie (Geofan) Thanks!..... All's well that ends well.
  15. One moment of patience may ward off great disaster. One moment of impatience may ruin a whole life. I sure someone will take that 25k off my hands at some point. Chinese Proverb
  16. The conclusion......................... In the end I decided to take the offer, I talked to my wife and she is cool with giving me the summer to sell a few less treasured books to help with the kitchen funds. SO THEN WHY TAKE THE DEAL? Here is why..... As of today the war chest now has 25k ( added some of my own funds from a few recent sales here on the boards last month) IMHO FF #1 is just as key/hot as the TMNT (100% not as rare) and while the dealer valued the book at 15K I legit think its a solid good looking 2.5 that might bring more very soon. But even if you value it at current FMV 15k with the 21k cash that's a darn good price for any TMNT 9.0 based on what I could find. The dealer freely admitted that he was over paying because he wanted my specific signature book( yes it was a beautiful copy) But I honestly think with some patience & luck I will find a nice lower grade suitable replacement with my war chest funds (7.5/8.5). So for me potentially having both books in my collection for the down grade seems to make a lot of sense as I love both books. The only down side I can see is having to move some of the lesser valued semi keys to help with the kitchen but any book being sold can be replaced at some point if I decide to do so.
  17. There are other books ( but I love them to lol) but after all the posts I think I can pull off the kitchen and replace the TMNT with a lower grade, I do all my work so that has big impact on the overall cost of a redo on the Kitchen.
  18. Its a 2.5 but its a good looking 2.5 no tape, no chipping ow/w and over all it presents very well for the grade
  19. After the post and thinking hard I am feeling like I am going to go for the deal, one last set of Can any one tell me what FMV might really be on the TMNT book? Also what's a decent say 7.5 going to cost me because if I can put 6k towards the kitchen and pick up a 7.5 for say 15/16ish it sounds like the move to make
  20. To be 100% honest I own a business and this would be processed through our accountant at the end of the year, so the tax aspect of the trade is really irrelevant to me. I sincerely thank you for your suggestions & input. However, I was really looking for some guidance in regard to the actual aspect of the trade as both books are very HOT right now but as noted a 2.5 FF #1 while not cheap (15/16k?) is not uncommon but the offer also includes 21k which would mean I am selling a 9.0 signature for apx 36k which seems very fair to me? So while I don't want to really part with the TMNT book it's a very legit offer based on what I have seen of recent sales? The cash while not needed would be a help to update my kitchen which is from when the home was built in 1997. I just have this feeling I am going to regret selling the book and that's why I came here among fellow collectors who I would bet have been in the same spot more then a few times.
