  1. It's funny how we can all look at the same results and get a 100% different interpretation of them. I think both Action and Detective sold pretty much where a lot of us thought they would/should land or even a bit higher then expected. The June Tec 27 5.0 WP ( good looking book) sale had me consider there was a chance this book might come in just under a million ( it was not a great looking book imho & the page quality has to be considered to have had some impact) & yet it ends up going over the 5.0 sale, it's just crazy times. The Secret Wars Zeck Page was just f#ckin insane and I don't care who bought it or how much money they have imho they got caught up in the " I gotta have it auction hype" & paid to much............................. but damn it was fun to watch.
  2. The most recent HA sale of a book close to the current 4.5 was a Tec 5.0 with big bad white pages & it did a solid 1,125,000.00 last June. The current book has Tan/ow pages so its a lower grade book with lower page quality ( nice looking 4.5 imho) But where do you think its going to/should hammer out at? Someone might get a bit of deal?
  3. . That stamp unlike a replaced staple is obviously not original from the when the book was printed. The stamp could have been put on there last week or 70 years ago. which if I recall was party of the same post/ conversation, So yes it is different from someone raising the condition of staples or pointing out corner blunting or a small crease? The book is graded and regardless of the stamp being there or not its is what it is...right? The stamp is clearly presented and visible. But when the stamp is from and when it was stamped is just silly, "I am the most skeptical S.O.B. when it comes to the marketing gimmicks and promotional tales in this hobby." Fair enough but the gimmick is meaningless the stamp may have an impact on the final price up or down I doubt it..... Here is what this book is its an ACTION #1 6.0 blue label the Rocket is clear and visible & the next owner ( god bless) should be thrilled because its a great copy with or without the stamp and IMHO the final hammer won't be based on the stamp. Now I am not the most skeptical S.O.B. in the world so to each his own......have all the conversation about the stamp you guys want, maybe we could all chip in and hire a private eye to find out when those stamps were made & do a You-tube special.
  4. Have we really gotten to the point where we are now wondering if the stamp is real or fake? Fact is this is a copy of ACTION #1 its a great looking copy and if it was stamped last week and that bugs you keep your money in the bank. It just feels like a bunch of old ladies with noting better to do on here sometimes. You know what blows me away as a collector ( not the stamp) But that 2 unknown copies of the most historic, iconic and bad @ss books in our hobby just popped up (no resto) so we can't complain about how we would never want one of those in our collection ( purple agggggggg). and both imho anyone on this board or any other board should be proud to own, stamp, no stamp or fake stamp from 1964..........................Nuff said.
  5. Yesterday when I said I was closing this sale I got a lot of emails & a couple of calls basically asking me the same questions: Yes I am open to PAYMENTS ( I understand several interested parties have all said the same basic thing they need to move stuff to come up with the funds, which being a collector I 100% understand) If I wanted this book there are not to many books I would not sell to add this to my collection. That being said if your considering making payments I am 100% firm on the price ( it's fair for what this is) and I also will need a serious deposit & we can workout the details between us.
  6. BUMP AND UPDATE: Hi I am going to be closing this listing Sunday, I understand this book may not be for everyone or maybe the timing is off? I also understand that several of you made very fair trade/cash offers and I considered them all..... THANK YOU. However some of the emails I found to be a little s#itty look this what it is & yes I know it's "not a perfect coverless copy as I was reminded by one offer" yes I also" wish it had the cover" and yes " I understand that it may sell for less then you offers at auction" That being said I might just sock it away another decade or maybe its off to Heritage and it lands where it lands. I seriously leaning on just keep it. I sincerely can't say thank you enough to all of you on the boards for the positive input and for the cool posts ( the one meme is classic). In the end this is Detective #27 and that's all that needs to be said. Have a safe and Happy Holiday. Frank
  7. To be honest I am not sure what else I might try here it seems like all the Action is really at auction these days, Iv seen books not sell here and then do 30% more at auction ( I assume the buying pool is larger) but I just felt like it would be cool/easier/faster if this landed here. I can say Iv had some pretty interesting PM trade/cash offers thus far, but it's hard to get excited about a trade when it's this book .
  8. DETECTIVE COMICS #27 (125K) CGC GRADED (NG) Updated info:: I have had a lot of question about time payments and or partial trade/cash deals. I will consider all of them as it never hurts to see what's on the table. PAGE: LIGHT TAN TO OFF WHITE CGC NOTES: COMPLETE, COVERLESS COPY SMALL PIECE OUT OF 2ND TO 7TH PAGE VERY SLIGHTLY AFFECTS STORY After the new year I am going to be sending a large part of my collection to auction including this book but thought it would just be a lot easier to move it here as I would love to have it find a new home to a fellow member if possible. I am not going to get into how this is in all probability one of only a handful of COMPLETE GRADED COVERLESS EXAMPLES OF ONE OF THE MOST ICONIC BOOKS IN THE HISTORY OF OUR HOBBY or that its really the best chance for a lot of collectors looking to own this grail or that I sincerely feel the book is priced below CMV ( a Giant Size X-Men 1 is now a 75k book) and that in a few years I will wish I had kept it. No I am not going into all that, I am just going to say this DETECTIVE #27 ............ not one page, not a few pages, but a complete copy except the cover. Price includes shipping in United States or please call me if you are serious and we can work on delivery options Wire transfer or certified check only No returns unless damaged during shipping ( 856 577 2795) Frank I can provide many references and I own 2 comic/collector stores in Southern NJ No probies or HOS• First definitive “I’ll take it” posted in the thread takes precedence over any PM
  9. Any book including Action get hammered a bit for Brittle pages. I think because BP just reminds us that at some point all these books will be a pile of dust. Except the ones with preservation to save them from extinction but they will all have purple labels But from top to bottom this country has no sense of itself. Brave heart Robert the Bruce:
  10. Landed right where most people thought it would/should in the current market. Good solid sale, the buyer gets to own a beauty of a book ( just a sweet copy) at a fraction of the cost. IMHO if cgc had the SAME book with a blue label and the resto noted this is a 450/500k sale. The f#ugly purple is the worst part about this book. I wish they would just go to an all blue system ( imagine the $$$ on resubmissions lol) the current system is outdated ( look purple! look purple! it badddddd it baddddddd) and really just continues to depress the resto market. I understand why it was done in the early days, but let it go, let it go............let it go already!
  11. I agree the days of the "average Joe" collector being able to afford any of the major GA keys in a decent unrestored grade are long gone. When you get past all bs about the color of the label ( yes, the purple is awful) the fact is resto or no resto it's not just another comic book it's a Detective #27 (“Indiana we are simply passing through history. This.....this is history.”) Anyone lucky enough to add that 7.0 Tec to there collection should hold there head high because that a damn fine looking book.
  12. I watched the video and I also did some of my own research & realized there was a lot of inaccurate or misleading information/speculation/opinions being narrated as facts. I don't have a dog in this fight but I do know the collectable markets & almost everything he said in the video seems to have been public knowledge and pretty easy to find & even known by many gaming collectors/investors long before this video popped up. I also remember this same kind of crapola all over the net 20 yrs ago when CGC books started to take off and we see where that market is at today So while we may be in the wild west days of graded games I think it's fair to say their world wide cultural impact & generational popularity leads me to believe the graded gaming market is going to continue to grow & see impressive numbers regardless of this so called conspiracy. What I find so hilarious is how collectors are taking all the facts in the video as 100% legit. It's kind of ironic but from the post I have read it seems like a lot of older collectors are feeling locked out of hobby ( which is one thing I can relate to in comics) & really want to make this a much bigger deal then it is.
  13. The very fact that we are talking about a 9.8 TMNT 1 being 220k or ONLY 150k is still mind blowing to me ( in a good way, it's the birth of a historic American franchise that will continue to entertain humans world wide for generations) On a side note I know a collector/dealer who has a goal of getting #1 1st print in every grade from 5.0 to 9.8 & I have personal knowledge of a recent ( a few weeks ago) private sale of a #1 to him for a number in-between the 150k & the 220k so maybe we are not quite at a legit 220k but as of 8/24/21 8.25pm est 150k is a good deal on this book, will that always be the case...who knows AF15 was stagnate for 4 yrs and now a damn 4.0 will cost you 40k+................... Either way TMNT is here to stay and if your lucky enough to own a 1st print in any grade enjoy it because its always has been & always will be a bad @ss book to own! "It's worthless. Ten dollars from a vendor in the street. But I take it, I bury it in the sand for a thousand years, it becomes priceless" .Belloq 1981

  16. Thats not correct depending on how the buyer does the return the seller 95% is just beat.
  17. 100% could not agree more ebay and the NEW buyer mentality that I can get a refund no matter what is a never ending story of seller abuse. Try calling ebay ( assuming you can get a human you can understand) & they could care less if you lose $1 or 50k "it's the cost of doing business" Which is pure BS, for example in this case the seller did nothing wrong, ( yet the seller has no protection) now because the buyer decided to crack the case, the buyer expects to get a full refund, how is that ok or fair? Are there awful sellers, you bet but in this case the seller is 100% right not to want YOUR reslabed book back. Come on once you crack that book or any book its on you. Let me put it this way if the book came back as having NO resto and was worth 3x what you paid should the seller expect you top give them the current FMV?
  18. Sorry thought I saw you were a member a long time ago, getting old and looked at the wrong member good luck with the book
